We all age and what we do now impacts the quality of services and, in turn, the quality of life, not only for over 55s today, but also for those who will be approaching this age bracket in future decades.
Our services are already having a big positive impact on the local community, with a relative of one of our Day Centre clients saying, "What a wonderful place the Day Centre is! The staff are all so friendly and caring with the clients. My mum loves going and it's a highlight of her week to spend time with other people of a similar age, chatting and having a lovely time together. Your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated, thank you all!"
We currently provide the following services:
- Day Services
- Help at Home
- Health and Wellbeing Services
- Dementia Services
- Footcare
- Information and Advice
- Community Connections
While we bear the Age UK name, there is an important distinction to be made between ourselves and the national charity. We are in fact a local independent charity that operates in the Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset area, and therefore rely on donations, grants, and corporate partnerships to support our operations and service delivery.
Our Fundraising and Marketing Volunteers will raise money that impacts the scope of our current services and provision of new services for over 55s in the local community. Responsibilities will include:
- Attending fundraising events and collecting donations on behalf of Age UK BPED
- Distributing our Guide to Services brochures within the local community
- Assisting with the planning and organisation of fundraising events
- Giving suggestions for future fundraising events

We're a small team passionate about working with politicians and decision-makers from all sides of politics. Our goal is to spread the word about Scouts and support policies that help our movement, including our young members and volunteers.
We believe it's crucial to involve young people in what we do. That's why we empower them to speak up about the things that matter to them, ensuring our work truly reflects what our members need and want. Right now, we have a team of 10 youth advocates who joined us last year, and we're excited to add 5 more roles.
We're also recruiting a volunteer team to make our team more diverse and bring in fresh ideas. This mix of voices and experiences makes our work even better, reaching more people and making a bigger impact. And as our team grows, we're dedicated to giving everyone the support, guidance, and chances to learn and grow.
As part of this team, you'll get to talk directly to senior leaders in government and run campaigns that change things for the better. You'll go to events like Party Conferences and meet other people who care about Scouts. Plus, you'll learn loads of skills like public speaking, campaign development, and working with others to make big things happen.

Thank you for wanting to find out more about becoming a member of Age UK Lambeth’s Board.
Our Board members are unpaid volunteers called trustees. They fill an essential role in ensuring our charity improves the lives of older and vulnerable people around the borough of Lambeth. We hope that this pack lets you know more about the charity, the role of a trustee and how to apply to become one.
We currently have seven Board members with space for up to five more. We want to find people who have a desire to direct services that enable lives to be changed for the better. We want to increase the diversity of the Board bringing different life experiences which match the Lambeth community, broad and diverse as it is. Ideally we want people that bring new skills and experience or enhance those already in place, but this is not essential. It’s not necessary to have previous Board experience.
Please check the Recruitment Pack attached.
We look forward to hearing from you!
How to apply? Whilst we want the application process to be simple, it is for us, a small local charity, a big decision. We need to make sure we have the right people on our Board, which means the process is not necessarily the quickest, but we hope at every point it helps ensure you are doing the right thing for you and us, by becoming one of our Board members. To get the process started, please send us your CV with a covering letter explaining why you think you would make a good Board member for Age UK Lambeth. Be clear about how you think your skills and/or experience will contribute to the effective governance of the charity. We are running a rolling recruitment programme, but if you can get us your application by 17th May you will be in time for our first tranche of interviews with shortlisted candidates, w/c 27th May. Following a successful interview you will be invited to attend a Board meeting as an observer. This gives you a chance to get a proper feel for whether being on our Board is for you. If both parties are happy after that, then you can be appointed as one of our new Trustees.

We are currently seeking applications in particular from those with experience in health and life sciences, digital, STEM disciplines, HR/people management, sustainability and green skills manufacturing but we operate in a fast-moving environment and would encourage applications from all individuals with a passion for education whatever their skill set.
What difference will you make?
