ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring an established Deputy Manager looking to progress and utilise their own skills and experience to make meaningful change. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a cluster of services and teams. Our services support homeless adults with complex and enduring needs. We are looking for a motivated, energetic and dynamic professional who is passionate about providing exceptional support to residents and team members.

You will have overall responsibility of your service and team, aiming to deliver a high quality, trauma informed service to your residents. Your role is to ensure full contract and regulatory compliance whilst being a role model/leader for your team to achieve KPI's and other requirements as per the service needs.

Shift/Working pattern: 37.5 hours a week in service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, you may also be required to work outside these hours as per the service requirements and needs. You will also take part in our on call service. You will be based across various services covering the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) area.

Our services provide 154 units of accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. The services are 24 hour supported accommodation sites.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Provide leadership and management throughout the full employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular one to ones and team meetings to support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed.
• Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.

Service Delivery

• Support the Service Manager with the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively alongside the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Support the Service Manager in managing the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development
• Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment

Job Title: School Engagement Manager
Reporting to: Director of Transformations
Hours/days: Full-time 40 hours per week (will consider part-time & flexible working)
Location: Flexible / hybrid with a minimum of one day per week in the Brixton office. The role will involve travel to various locations in London, and some travel to Yorkshire/South West, so would therefore not suit fully remote working.

About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to foster engagement between our charity and schools and kitchen teams seeking support to improve their school food. This is a significant and important role for our rapidly scaling charity, ensuring effective communication and engagement with schools, academies and stakeholders to maximise our impact.

You will be supported by our Director of Transformations, and work closely with our Senior Programme Managers, and the Director of Partnerships and Impact.

Your role will be critical to the successful delivery of both our core programmes which are delivered across England. This role will be primarily focused in London, but will include supporting the engagement of schools in locations across the UK as we develop new hubs. You will be joining a dynamic and growing charity who are passionate about delivering exceptional training, skill sharing, expertise and know-how to advance the quality of food preparation, food service and food education in schools.

Key responsibilities:
● To work with the Director of Transformations to develop and execute a school engagement plan, in line with our scaling strategy and current funded programmes.
● Work closely with the Director of Transformations, Director of Impact and Partnerships and the Senior Programme Managers to assess and propose suitable programmes of support for schools, multi-academy trusts and caterers interested
in our School Chef Educator Programme and School by School interventions.
● Lead meetings with Senior Leadership of prospective participating schools and academies, supported by our Senior Programme Managers where appropriate.
● Work with our Senior Programme Managers to identify suitable schools and participants for our funded training programmes, ensuring a high uptake of available places on our funded training programmes.
● Maintain accurate data records and ensure our contacts database is up to date with relevant school, participant, partner and engagement information.
● Build relationships with academy trusts and other strategic educational and youth organisations to market our programmes and champion our work around school food.
● Work with the Senior Programme Managers to build upon our current onboarding and customer journey for schools and training participants, developing and improving this for future schools and cohorts.
● Act as a collaborator and key influencer amongst colleagues to develop approaches and engagement resources that will facilitate a stronger rapport with schools.
● Working with the Director of Partnerships and Impact, effectively and efficiently handle new enquiries, manage the sales pipeline, outreach campaigns and support the onboarding process for schools and participants.

Skills & experience:
● You have interest and belief in our mission, to improve child health through improving food and food education in schools
● You are an excellent writer and communicator with strong presentation and facilitation skills
● You have experience of maintaining and building business relationships with a wide range of audiences from individual schools to large academy chains, through to partner delivery organisations and local government departments
● You are confident liaising with decision makers at all levels 
● You have experience of CRM software, and of building a strong sales pipeline and proactively securing business development opportunities
● You have the ability to listen, understand and interpret customer requirements
● You demonstrate self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing, growing organisation
● You have stakeholder and partnership management experience
● You have experience marketing programmes to schools
● You are a proactive, confident communicator with an excellent understanding of the education sector, and the key developments and approaches that will resonate with schools looking to develop their staff and transform their food offer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Business Development Manager to join our growing charity. Responsible for winning new business and retaining existing contracts to achieve financial and growth targets, this is a pivotal role at Kinship. Purpose of Role

The Finance Business Partner is the bridge between Finance and the other Directorates we support. The focus of the role is to provide finance expertise to budget holders to help them to understand their financial information and make informed decisions about their areas.

It is someone who truly partners with budget holders, to understand the key drivers, needs and priorities of different areas of the organisation and works with the relevant stakeholders to deliver our ambitious strategic goals.

The role

Support to budget holders:

• Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all areas of the organisation.
• Establish strong relationships with and become the finance point of contact for budget holders with queries.
• Review monthly performance with budget holders and agree any revisions that are needed.
• Provide high quality financial support and training to budget holders on processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Implement and maintain strong business processes to support record-keeping, analysis, and good decision-making.

Monthly reporting process:

• Support the Head of Finance with month end process, to include: reconciliation of legacy funding with outsourced support organisation, accruals and prepayments.
• Run and review cost centre reports prior to sharing with budget holders.
• Distribute cost centre reports to budget holders and discuss variances .
• Compile incorrect transactions from budget holders and post correcting journals. Investigate reasons for mispostings and instigate corrective action.
• Produce management accounts and related variance analysis for Executive Leadership Team.

Budget and quarterly forecasts:

• Lead and coordinate the annual budget process, 3-year planning and quarterly reforecasting.
• Produce templates and guidance to support budget holders with budgeting and forecasts.
• Arrange meetings to discuss and support budget holders with completion of templates.
• Work with the Chief of Staff to align the annual budget and business planning processes.

Funder proposals and reports:

• Support Fundraising team and Programme implementation teams with proposals to funders.
• Work with budget holders to develop and maintain list of funding, timelines and reporting requirements.
• Prepare financial reports for external funders.

Ongoing support:

• Work closely with the Fundraising team to improve and strengthen reconciliations, reporting and system links between the CRM system (Salesforce) and the Finance System.
• Develop and deliver training to staff and volunteers on finance processes and understanding financial information.

• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Support Finance process improvement activities.

Finance team tasks:

• Creation of and running reports and transaction queries from SUN systems using Q&A.
• Managing quarterly VAT return process.
• Support annual external audit to include preparation of schedules and financial statements/notes.

Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post holder by the Ramblers.

The person 

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CiPFA or equivalent formal qualification) or in the final stage of qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

• Substantial experience of charity fund accounting (SORP).
• Knowledge & extensive experience of finance systems (SUN systems desirable)
• Knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce desirable).
• Experience of business partnering in the charity sector, working with budget holders to prepare departmental and project budgets and forecasts.
• Experience of communicating complex financial information effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Substantial experience of producing management accounts and variance analysis.
• Experience of working collaboratively and in partnership with individuals, groups, organisations and stakeholders internally and externally.
• Experience of dealing with charity VAT.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.
