Job description

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Global Assurance Manager to be based in our central London office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Internal Audit Manager with significant client service and people management experience, the ability to understand complex financial and operational risk, and proven experience of delivering risk-based internal audit.

This is a truly global role, in which you will work with the Global Assurance team located across three 'hubs' (London, Nairobi and Manila) to ensure a uniform voice, and the delivery of the annual programme of work. You will be required to undertake international travel (30-35%), take a lead role in developing and building relationships with senior management teams - at our offices in London, as well as specific focus on key relationships in Latin America and the Caribbean and West and Central Africa.

In this role you will also deputise for the Director of Global Assurance whenever needed, and act as account manager for Save the Children UK - a Save the Children Member organisation to whom Global Assurance will also provide internal audit services in 2020

In order to be successful you will bring:

  • Significant post-qualification experience in risk-based internal audit, preferably in the public and/or not-for-profit sectors
  • A proven ability, and experience of, communicating, negotiating and challenging risk and control practices at all levels, and in large, complex organisations
  • An 'outcomes' focus with direct experience of understanding complex risks and processes, working understanding and experience of applying risk-based internal auditing and a good understanding of the three lines of defence model
  • A proven ability to focus on key issues and the 'big picture' as opposed to a compliance-only approach; and the ability to communicate these in writing
  • Experience of leading, working on, and delivering multiple projects, with conflicting priorities, on a timely basis
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multi-disciplinary (preferably global) teams in a matrix-managed structure, with strong people-development experience
  • A proven track record of producing high quality, effective oral and written communication in English (and preferably also in French) for a wide range of audiences
  • A desire to work in countries where Save the Children International operates, some of which are fragile states. The travel will requirement will be 30-35%, but some flexibility would be required to cover any additional need.
  • A track record of continuously improving the way internal audit services are being delivered

  • Proficiency in French is highly desirable for this role

We offer a competitive salary in the context of this sector, along with 30 days annual leave and a company pension scheme. Full business travel insurance, accommodation, and a per diem allowance is provided whilst travelling.

The Organisation

We employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realise the right of children and to ensure their voices are heard.

We are working towards three breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

  • No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
  • All children learn from a quality basic education and that,
  • Violence against children is no longer tolerated

We know that great people make a great organization, and that our employees play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitions for children. We value our people and offer a meaningful and rewarding career, along with a collaborative and inclusive workplace where ambition, creativity, and integrity are highly valued.

Application Information:

Please apply using a cover letter and up-to-date CV as a single document. Please also include details of your current remuneration and salary expectations. A copy of the full role profile can be found at

We need to keep children safe so our selection process reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse.
