About the role 

As we embark on a new ten-year strategy, this is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a radical and ambitious approach to partnerships with businesses, building on the successful partnerships we have with Lloyds Banking Group, Specsavers, Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley Homes and many more. 

This pivotal role will lead the development of a corporate and commercial engagement strategy across Crisis, growing and deepening our portfolio of corporate partners, broadening their support for our organisation and our cause, and inspiring them to act within their businesses. The role also involves leading the continued development of our fundraising and partnerships outside of London, creating a national support network to end homelessness. 

While the role is directly responsible for strategic and corporate partnerships, the post holder will lead across the charity, ensuring a joined-up approach across retail, service delivery (including Crisis at Christmas), brand partnerships, venture philanthropy, investments, and innovation. 

The role also involves membership of the Brand, Marketing & Fundraising senior team and the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group, where it plays an important organisation-wide leadership role. Additional investment has recently been made in the team, and senior leadership and the Board have committed to supporting its success. 

About you 

We’re seeking someone with significant experience developing relationships with the corporate/commercial sector and a successful track record in organisations comparable in scale and complexity to Crisis. You will be ambitious, with a strong understanding of our challenges and how to make the most of opportunities to create new relationships with partners and think differently about what it means for a business to support a charity and social cause.

London, SE5 8FJ – agile working, minimum of 40% of your working week (2 days) in the office  

One of the UK’s best-known providers of Homelessness Services, The Salvation Army, is looking for a skilled and motivated Finance Officer to provide business support to our Homelessness Services in Southern England and Wales.  

As a member of a small team within the Finance Department dedicated to supporting Homelessness Managers, the post holder will focus on contracts for Housing Related Support (HRS), modelling costs over contract life, reviewing financial performance, and meeting contract reporting requirements. The Salvation Army currently holds 32 contracts worth £14 million in Southern England and Wales.

Key responsibilities:

• To support Homelessness Services (HS) to prepare an annual budget for each existing service (both accommodation-based and non-accommodation based), and for new services that it wishes to bid for at tender.
• To support HS in reviewing I&Es and monitoring financial data to optimise the in-year performance of its services.
• To complete financial monitoring returns for commissioners of existing HRS contracts.
• To track contract periods and advise on invoicing requirements to ensure income is received promptly.

The successful applicant will have.

• Financial skills including budgeting, analysing I&Es, developing financial models, to enable strategic and commercial decision making.
• Knowledge of the funding regime for HRS services and supported accommodation, and ability to differentiate between costs eligible to be funded by HRS contracts and accommodation charges (housing benefit).
• Knowledge of HRS delivery models, ideally gained through experience of commissioning or delivering HRS services.
• Ability to present complex information in an effective and professional manner, in both verbal and written form.
• Intermediate to advanced level Excel capability with ability to collate, manipulate, interrogate, and report on complex data.

Your responsibilities will include line management, budgeting with the senior management team and deputising for the Executive Director with full operational oversight of all Generate projects.

About you

You will have extensive project management experience, data analysis and reporting skills, plus exceptional people management. You will probably have a relevant degree in social care or community development or equivalent skills or qualifications in business/marketing.

Do you work in an information, advice, guidance, or a support setting? Are you passionate about welfare rights and supporting students? Do you love developing and coaching people. We’re looking for an Advice Service Manager to lead on the day to day management of our Advice Service and grow and develop our Advisors.

The Students’ Union Advice Service supports a student population of 50000 with case numbers averaging over 3000 per year. We’re here to empower students to exercise their rights and options if they encounter problems during their time at university. We offer one-to-one advice on academic issues, housing, money and student finance issues and student life.

We’re currently going through a service transformation, and we want to lay the foundations for a thriving and sustainable Advice Service, able to meet growing demand and complexity of cases. We’re embedding a new staffing structure, and we’re looking for an Advice Service Manager who can support our staff to transition into the more senior roles available. You’ll lead on staff training and development so that we achieve our transformation plan.

As well as management, you’ll be taking on your own cases. You’ll enjoy this role if you’re interested in the law and getting to grips with regulations and policies and you’re passionate about helping people to understand their rights and challenge poor practice. As Advice Service Manager, you’ll also be using your expertise in this field to coach your team on managing their own caseload and delivering high quality advice. You’ll contribute to building strong relationships with our stakeholders. This role will really suit you enjoy speaking to people and networking. We want someone who can build positive working relationships for access to collaborative working and new opportunities for the Service.

You’ll be joining a supportive team and have access to regular one to ones as well as external restorative supervision. We are looking for someone who has experience of advice giving but you aren’t expected to come with knowledge of all our areas. Training will be given. We’ll want to hear about the knowledge and skills you have from previous roles and how you can bring the skills you’ve developed and apply them to this opportunity.

Job Title:  Fundraising Officer

Location: Central London

Reports to: Head of Branch Operations

Salary: £26,500 pro rata (4 days per week)

Background:

Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.

Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.

As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Role description:

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage branch Community and Events, taking a lead for specific awareness events and fundraising events or activities.
• Organise events, including liaison with venues, suppliers, monitoring expenditure, volunteers and participants and ensure all preparation is complete.
• Ensure an excellent level of supporter care and stewardship with supporters is maintained and developed.
• Provide regular reports and information about activities, supporters and volunteers.

• Previous experience working in fundraising in either a community, challenge or mass participant event capacity.

· Manage our external communications, including our website, Mailchimp newsletters and Twitter account.

Experience and Skillset:

• Experience of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with individual fundraisers/supporters and/or, managing fundraising events.
• Experience of working to budgets, targets and plans.
• Experience of working with and supporting volunteers.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations.

· Knowledge of and ability to develop and coordinate online giving donation platforms.

· Ability to work independently, and as part of a small team – including with volunteer stakeholders – when required

Hours of work and Location:

The basic hours are 28 hours per week spread over four working days. Within these hours there may be need to work some evenings and weekend days depending on when events happen, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities should be carried out during weekdays.

The amount of out of hours work will be agreed on an ongoing basis.

Time off in lieu will be allowed in agreement with the Head of Branch Operations and in line with the staff handbook and the European Working Time Directive.

(*) - At present, the branch office is located in Soho but Central London Samaritans, as an organization, will be moving location to a new site in Marylebone in early 2025. We are disclosing this now as the successful candidate would be expected to move with us when the branch office is rebased, so please do take note of this.

Limitations:

The post holder will be required to work within the rules and regulations of Samaritans and accept the authority of the Director and the Chair of the branch’s Board of Trustees, who have discretion to delegate authority to the post holder and to withdraw it.

Summary of the role:

The HR Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HR operations, focusing on delivering high-quality HR services. The role oversees employee relations, employee experience, learning and development, reward, resourcing, talent management, people analytics, EDI, wellbeing and payroll. The HR Manager will ensure the effective execution of HR processes and the maintenance of HR good practices across Muslim Aid, with a specific focus on using HR metrics to inform strategic decisions.

About the Role:

1. Oversee and manage all aspects of HR operations, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational policies.
2. Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive all necessary training and introductions to Muslim Aid policies.
3. Manage the recruitment process from job posting to hiring, ensuring a smooth and efficient candidate experience.
4. Respond promptly and effectively to HR-related inquiries from employees and management.
5. Conduct training sessions to educate employees and managers on HR policies and best practices.
6. Oversee the performance review process and ensure it is conducted fairly and consistently across all departments.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in managing HR operations and a team within a small to mid sized organisation.
3. Strong background in employee relations, including handling disputes and ensuring compliance with employment laws.
4. Excellent leadership and team management skills, capable of mentoring and motivating the HR team.
5. Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.
6. Strategic HR management abilities to align HR functions with organisational goals.
