About the role

Fuel Poverty Action (FPA) is looking for an experienced Communications Lead to help us amplify our voice, extend our reach and increase the engagement of our members and supporters.

This new role is pivotal in communicating our activities and outcomes to our network of members, supporters, and the broader public. 

As the Communications Lead, you will work closely with our core team and report to the Operations Lead. 

What you might find yourself doing:

• Campaign Promotion: Promote our events, actions, and mobilisations to maximise participation and support.

• Managing Social Media: Oversee all content on our social media platforms to keep our followers engaged and informed.

• Regular Newsletter: Curate, create and send out our quarterly newsletter to update our supporters on our latest campaigns and achievements.

• Website Management: Keep our website content fresh and oversee any improvements or updates.

• Internal Communications: Help the core team to keep stakeholders engaged and informed

• Press and Media Coordination: Work with other team members to handle press and media relations.

• CRM Management: Assist our Operations Lead in managing our CRM system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of our contacts.

• Communications Strategy: Help develop, monitor and evolve our overall comms plan, alongside the core team, to ensure it has the most impact.

• Team Support: Provide insights and support to the core team as needed.

Key details

EIA’s fundraising team has benefitted from significant investment in recent years and this brand-new role will enable the organisation to develop and expand a network of philanthropic partners.

EIA protects our planet by investigating and campaigning against environmental crime and abuse. Their focus is to protect wildlife, forests, oceans, and climate.

Through undercover work, research, and documentation, the EIA exposes criminal activities and works to bring those responsible to justice.

The Philanthropy Manager will lead on the development and delivery of a new philanthropy programme, which will include developing tailored stewardship programmes for HNWIs, expanding the donor base through effective prospecting and cultivation, working with campaign teams to develop donor funding propositions and embedding effective systems to process and support growth in philanthropy.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will: 

• Develop a tailored stewardship programme for 5 and 6-figure level donors
• Work with campaign teams and the wider fundraising team to develop funding propositions for HNWI and a Case for Support for the different areas of EIA’s work
• Work with the support of the Head of Fundraising, embed effective systems and processes to support the growth in philanthropy
• Conduct regular prospecting and cultivation to identify new potential supporters

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Significant experience of identifying and cultivating relationships with high value supporters and securing significant gifts
• Considerable experience of developing and communicating high value funding propositions and writing compelling cases for support and applications
• Strong verbal communication skills, confident in communicating effectively and passionately with supporters, team members across EIA and senior stakeholders
• Commitment to the EIA values, work and support of wildlife trade and environmental issues

The successful candidate will track and analyse media coverage of MSF in the UK through daily monitoring and the production of a weekly newsletter and quarterly reports. They will also debrief members of staff returning from MSF’s medical projects, as well as pitching stories to news outlets. Role also involves some social media management and opportunities to contribute to MSF events, such as Scientific Day.

This role is an opportunity to gain exposure to media work and explore the day-to-day work of an international NGO and to understand how and why we communicate. There will be ample opportunity to learn more about MSF and you are encouraged to attend and contribute to weekly office meetings and operational updates.

Grant Assessment Manager

The role

Our Grant Assessment Managers form part of a centralised Grant Assessment function – a flexible and adaptable team which provides critique and assessment of applications submitted to the Football Foundation and Premier League Stadium Fund for capital and revenue grants, working within short timescales. In addition to the core function, Grant Assessment Managers are required to undertake Post Award Support to ensure the objectives of our grants are being met. This involves both face-to-face and remote meetings with grant recipients, where an assessment of delivery of outcomes, KPI measures and compliance with grant terms and conditions is made.

What are we looking for?

You don’t have to be a football fan to join the Foundation, but you must have a detailed understanding of grant application and grant giving processes and governance, coupled with an ability to effectively apply this knowledge to provide high levels of customer service. You’ll have experience of critiquing and assessing grant applications, as well as an understanding of the operations, requirements and challenges faced by community organisations, statutory bodies and not-for-profits.

You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience of communicating with and supporting a diverse range of colleagues and applicants remotely, as well as experience of producing detailed reports for decision-makers.

Grant Assessment Managers must be highly organised, with the ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities, adapting their approach for each programme to ensure governance and compliance requirements are met.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising

The Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising will support PETA’s global programmes by securing vital funding from new and existing supporters. This role will advance the fundraising potential of PETA France and PETA Netherlands and work closely with existing teams within the UK and Germany.

To solicit major gifts (£5,000 and above) to support PETA’s international programmes and campaigns.

To build and advance relationships with PETA entities’ major donors and prospects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a strategy for international for major gifts fundraising
• Manage and maintain a portfolio major gift donors and prospects, across PETA international entities
• Effectively steward donors and prospects
• Develop personal engagement plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications
• Solicit major financial contributions from targeted donors
• Manage a pipeline of prospects, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level
• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Maintain accurate records on PETA entities’ databases with relevant information and research
• Work with the prospect researcher to obtain useful information, helping make appropriate asks
• Participate in budgeting process
• Monitor donors’ motivations and interests – keeping accurate and up to date records in the database
• Develop cultivation events within regional hotspots throughout PETA entities
• Work collaboratively with PETA staff across PETA entities
• Maintain a clear understanding of – and the ability to articulate – PETA's objectives as well as details of specific PETA programmes
• Maintain departmental information, files, and records related to legacy estates
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant departmental software (e.g. ROI, ResearchPoint, Raiser's Edge, etc) in order to improve communication with donors
• Assist with the preparation and proofreading of mailings and other communications, as needed
• Work with the wider major gifts team and VP of International Fundraising on all aspects of cultivation and stewardship
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Perform and manage any other projects or duties requested by the supervisor
• Be aware of GDPR and its implementation in European territories

Established in 2021, Opportunity Green is a fast-growing not-for-profit organisation that helps to identify and unlock opportunities to tackle climate change. We build ambitious coalitions, support climate vulnerable countries in international negotiations and find innovative legal pathways to fight climate change.

Our legal team works on climate legal actions relating to the aviation, shipping, buildings, steel, and agriculture sectors in the UK, EU, and internationally. We provide strategic legal analysis to support decarbonisation in these sectors; undertake legal interventions, including legal challenges and litigation; and undertake legal advocacy, including submissions to international courts, states, and the United Nations.

We are now looking for a Senior Legal Manager to build our work on strategic legal interventions to help drive sustainable finance flows and systems across our sectoral focus areas.  Our objective is to use legal levers to ensure that finance flows are directed to projects and activities that are aligned with a 1.5°C pathway. By using the law, we believe we can effect change in the operation of financial markets, bringing about systemic change in the activities and operations of these sectors.

What’s the role?

Reporting to Opportunity Green’s Legal Director, you will be leading our sustainable finance legal interventions, with an initial focus on the aviation and shipping sectors, and you will be responsible for developing our sustainable finance workstream.

You will be joining at an exciting time, as the team takes forward various legal actions and looks to develop new interventions. You will be working at the cutting edge of climate law in new and emerging areas, and will be required to identify and develop strategic legal action ideas that could help to drive change across the full legal lifecycle, from delivering policy-level change, to crystallizing the financial risk of investment in inadequate climate action, to shifting the investment profile of ineffective transition activities through bringing corporate accountability and greenwashing actions.  

You will be responsible for the day-to-day development and running of cases and other non-contentious legal actions, including coordination with external counsel where relevant. You will also work closely with a wide range of NGOs with technical, scientific, and campaigning expertise.  

We are particularly interested in applications from those with a background in financial law and litigation.

Our legal team is already achieving outsized impact with a great team spirit. We are looking for someone who is analytical and organised, but who is also a people person with great communication skills, a collaborative approach and a passion for fighting climate change. Opportunity Green is a growing organisation so you will also be involved in supporting other aspects of work, such as contributing to funding proposals, developing campaign strategy, providing legal input into communications, and taking part in our committees.

· A passion for using their legal skills to direct finance flows away from ineffective solutions and towards sustainable activities, who is brave enough to try new things and persuasive enough to convince others to follow their leadership.

Desirable skills and experience:

We do not expect any candidate to have all the skills listed below but rather we look for transferable skills and potential as well as past experience.

· A high level of self-motivation and commitment to Opportunity Green’s values, ethos and purpose.

· Qualification as a solicitor or barrister (practising or non-practising).

· Experience in litigation, ideally in the financial and regulatory sectors. 

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to manage other team members. 

· An ability to see solutions to complex problems through a creative legal lens.

· Experience of writing high-quality legal analysis and/or court submissions.

· Excellent attention to detail and an ability to work with technical and legal material, but also an ability to think strategically and not get bogged down in detail when that is unhelpful.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and interact with lawyers and non-lawyers from around the world with kindness and respect.

· Passion for stopping climate change.

· Excellent time management, and the ability to meet deadlines, logically tackle problems and set and communicate priorities.

The successful candidate will be offered an annual salary of £60,000 plus 10% employer-contributed pension. Migrants Organise is a national platform where refugees, migrants and allies organise for dignity and justice in solidarity fe for all. We are looking for an Organiser who believes in freedom and justice for all and the universal right to health, with the skills, initiative and interest to work with the team to continue to grow the Patients Not Passports campaign in a changing political environment and the ability to facilitate power building, action in pursuit of long-term structural change. 

The Access to Healthcare Organiser will help shape Migrants Organise’s strategy to grow an organised refugee and migrant solidarity movement as part of the Patients Not Passports campaign, alongside our partners at Medact, in order to bring about systemic change to end the hostile and racist immigration enforcement system in the NHS. The Organiser's work will include identifying, recruiting and supporting people charged or denied healthcare and facilitating their participation in the Patients Not Passports campaign, as well as supporting migrant movement builders to organise, lead and deliver organised and effective social justice actions locally, regionally and nationally alongside supporters and allies.
