The Role

This is a new role which will be focused on a specific project to initially set up and support our member led Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) task group and subgroups. These task groups, with your support, will lead the direction that our EDI membership initiatives take. One of the primary core initiatives will be the delivery of a mentoring scheme for our members with an inclusivity focus.

To be shortlisted for this post, you must have:

• Excellent Project Management skills and experience

• Demonstratable knowledge of the EDI space, leading practises and ideologies

• Previous experience of working with members/volunteers including in an advisory and secretariat capacity.

• An understanding of and preferably experience of managing mentoring schemes.

Experience of working in a membership organisation or knowledge of the engineering profession would be advantageous.

Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community projects to tackle poverty and isolation, and empower and support children, young people and their families, older people, women and refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We also incubate and support local charities and social businesses to thrive, so together we can meet the diverse needs of the local communities of Wandsworth. Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for an Event Manager to join our Development Events Team on a fixed term basis, covering a period of maternity leave. 

Supported by an Events Officer, you will lead on the end-to-end planning and delivery of key events to support UAL’s first major fundraising campaign, launching this Autumn. Recently this has included a programme of bespoke cultivation events such as exhibition tours and Meet The Artist discussions, and annual flagship stewardship events such as the Scholars’ Celebration.

We are looking for an experienced Administration and Systems Manager to join our enthusiastic and friendly Operations team. Help Counselling is a small Mental Health charity providing one-to-one counselling, both in person and online to adults over 18.  We are also a well-established clinical training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training organisations in London.

About Help

Help Counselling is well-established Mental Health Charity with a heritage of over 50 years. We provide training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP. For ethical reasons, the work trainee counsellors / psychotherapists do is unpaid, i.e., they must volunteer their time.

This volunteer model enables Help to fulfil its charitable aim of providing low-cost counselling services. It can take between 3-5 years to qualify, and our training placements are for minimum of 12 months meaning we can also provide clients with long-term help. Having consistence and continuity plays a pivotal role in building a safe, therapeutic, and trusting alliance between the counsellor and client. 

The blend of low-cost and long-term talking therapy is much needed in a time of increasing demand for mental health support and increasing complexity of presenting issues.

About the job

The purpose of this role is to manage the daily administrative operations and a small administration team of 2 people. The objective being to ensure that we meet our monthly targets, are compliant with the requirements of BACP, run efficiently and deal with exceptions in a timely, ethical, and effective manner.

Currently our client volumes are between 250-350, we have approximately 90 counsellors and clinical team of approximately 20. 

We operate a number of cloud-based IT systems and have outsourced HR and Finance functions.

Key responsibilities

Team management
Directing the team to make sure work is scheduled, fully completed and managed efficiently.

Line managing and coaching team members to achieve their objectives and develop their skills, confidence and abilities. 
Systems management.

Managing the impacts and interactions between processes and systems which can be complex and far reaching. 

Monitoring and ensuring all systems used are accurate and up to date, performing, interpreting and following up on system audits.  
Information review, reporting and continuous improvement.

Create, review and report on operational data and use this information to solve potential problems or strengthen business performance. 

Evaluate processes and policies, look for and make improvements as necessary. Ensure that processes and policies are easy to understand and up to date. 

Stakeholder management

Provide a point of escalation and decision-making for queries arising from clients, counsellors, supervisors, training organisations and other stakeholders.

Quality of service 

Ensure all queries and contacts are dealt with professionally, accurately and promptly. 

Manage all aspects of the administrative tasks and process required.

The Candidate

Education & experience: 5-6 years’ administrative, operations, customer service and supervisory experience, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.  

Skills:

· Ability to analyse information and develop practical solutions.
Planning, critical thinking, problem solving, and task and time management skills.

· Interpersonal, line management, coaching, and verbal and written communication skills.

· Technical expert on MS Office suite and hands-on experience of CRM and / or clinical management system.

Introduction to Generate

Generate is a charity that was founded in 1972 by passionate volunteers who wanted to make sure that people with learning disabilities weren’t isolated in their local community.

Today that passion still inspires our staff: to support people with learning disabilities to live their lives, in the way they choose – enabling people to discover their passions, connect with their communities and explore ‘possibilities’. This passion drives the quality of the work we do.

Main Purpose of Role: To manage the portfolio of Generate projects related to promoting better health for people with a learning disability.

Responsibilities and Duties specific to this role:

• Collaborating with the other manager on the following:
• Day to day management of the Easy Health website, website management and membership management.
• Day to day management of the Easy Health social media: Creating regular engaging content and posting to the Easy Health twitter and Facebook pages, engaging with replies.
• Co-creating accessible health resources alongside Generate staffs with lived experience of learning disability.
• Designing and delivering training, in collaboration with co-trainers who have learning disabilities.
• Promoting Generate’s health training and easy read work.
• Increasing Generate’s earned income from health training, easy read work and contract delivery.
• Delivering on all the Health Project contracts to increase the accessibility of primary care services and reduce health inequalities for people with disabilities in Wandsworth and the UK.
• Manage a team of consultants and sessional project workers, some with lived experience of learning disability and autism.

Person Specification

We recognise that not every candidate will have all these skills and experiences but are looking for somebody who can show us that they meet a high number of them.

• At least 1 year experience of coordinating or managing projects.
• Experience of website management using a content management system.
• Applied experience of creating accessible digital products and platforms.
• Working knowledge of social media, online campaigns & community engagement, creating engaging and inclusive content.
• Experience of designing and delivering engaging and informative training, including online and blended trainings.
• Knowledge about health inequalities for people with learning disabilities, and the challenges this group of people face in accessing healthcare.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues with a learning disability and neurodiverse colleagues – understanding of reasonable adjustments.

The Role
Our Practitioner Led Assessment Service is the entry point for our beneficiaries seeking support from the Charity. Our Assessment Practitioners work in partnership with our beneficiaries to identify goals, individual needs and appropriate solutions.

The team provide advice, information and support and work collaboratively with the multi-professional team to ensure our beneficiaries are offered the right support at the right time.

Reporting into the Beneficiary Experience and Continuity Lead you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the practitioner led assessment service, holding a small case load and reviewing and resolving complex cases with the team. 

You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across health improvement and rehabilitation services, to ensure services are integrated, person centred, outcome focused and based on an ethos of recovery.

About You

About the role

The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

This new role will lead on Platform’s People and Process functions as we progress through the next stage of our exciting restructure process.

We are a flat-structured organisation that makes decisions collectively. We are currently developing and designing a new organisational structure based on sociocracy where staff are supported to work more collectively and strategically across our seven programs. 

The focus of this role will be on transforming and strengthening our HR systems and processes to centre compassion, care and liberation. As well as delivering the day-to-day HR functions within our small organisation, this role will lead on the long-term design and implementation of a People Strategy and a Learning and Development Strategy, supporting our staff to develop their own roles while growing as a team within our new structure. Key priorities for this work will be:

• Leading a review of recruitment practices, with a particular focus on equity and anti-oppression

• Leading a review of our line management practices and processes

• Supporting the review of our Socially Just Waging System policy

This role will sit within our new ‘Resourcing Circle’ - working with the Finance and Fundraising staff and liaising with our Board of Trustees.
