Location: Home-based with occasional travel (and a regular presence in the office).

The role of Director of Fundraising and Engagement will play a pivotal part in bringing the organisation’s five new strategic goals to life through targeted fundraising work made possible through strong relationship management, influential fundraising and engagement activity and effective partnership building with key stakeholders and donors.  Using a test and learn approach, you will develop a diverse range of donors, allies and influencers who care about the planet and who will support and amplify the charity’s work. The role will also be responsible for exploring global funding opportunities around the creation of new regional hubs and ensuring that Population Matters’ fundraising is supported by clear, compelling, positive, targeted communications.

The role will also sit on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working collaboratively with the CEO and other Directors to ensure the organisation delivers impact across its strategic goals.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in successfully developing and implementing fundraising strategies or plans, including leading a high performing team, as well as experience of securing funding from international sources or experience working in an international/global context. You will also have demonstratable success in developing and/or delivering an individual giving or legacy programme as well as a philanthropy or grant-seeking function.

You will have strong relationship building skills with major donors and individual supporters, able to align their giving needs with Population Matters’ work. Excellent communication skills will be combined with a resilient and optimistic approach and the ability to work independently with professional drive. Your Role as a Fundraiser for Hope for Southall Street Homeless

You will secure £210,000 p.a. to cover the running costs of HSSH.  This will include the salaries of five staff, grant-funding for emergency/ temporary accommodation for guests who wish to return to their home country (currently covered by a Government grant at 100%) and other running costs (eg insurance) and overheads (eg Third Sector body fees). 

Your responsibilities will include : 

Trusts

• To conduct an initial audit of existing Trust and Foundation donors to maintain and maximise potential income from these donors.
• To carry out prospect research using Fundsonline and other established Trust directories to identify new prospective donors.
• To establish a calendar-based pipeline showing submitted and planned applications, with required updates (including scheduled date, name, projected amount, and next action), to ensure timely and targeted applications and follow-up communications with donors (both existing and prospective).
• To monitor and respond to local and wider appropriate grant opportunities.

Corporates

• To scope local and wider district and borough opportunities for corporate partnerships, starting with warm contacts and existing donor networks.
• To build natural, face-to-face, contact and foster deep relationships with new corporate partners.
• To maintain a pipeline (as above) of corporate donors, prospects, communications, and planned approaches.

Community / Individuals

• To work with local community organisations and individuals, including those already engaged with/interested in HSSH and others, to raise awareness of the service, increase existing support, and generate new forms of support.
• To represent/showcase the work of HSSH through local events and forums, emphasising the need for, and the impact of, the service.
• In cooperation with the Social Media Management Group, to produce/ contribute to shared material/social posts profiling HSSH’s work and value, to the community, borough and wider bodies relative to our work.
• To prepare bespoke, scheduled, direct mail requests to individual donors, in the form of letters and e-mails.
• To maintain an up-to date information resource covering the issues relevant to local rough sleepers and migrants, to inform and evidence HSSH services.

Who We Are Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) is a charity founded in 2015 to provide a permanent night shelter in Southall.  The need for this was identified by the Churches in Southall Leadership Team – at the time part of the wider Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter initiative – due to the high number of rough sleepers in Southall, at the time, over 31% of all Ealing’s rough sleepers.

Job Purpose

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering professional customer service, work collaboratively across the organisation, and contribute to the success of the corporate plan. Financial accounting

• Oversee payments, purchase ordering, accounts payable, and ensure accurate recording of transactions in the general ledger.
• Lead the annual statutory audit, prepare statutory accounts, and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage tax returns for Phoenix community Housing and subsidiaries (VAT, Corporation Tax) and ensure compliance.
• Approve monthly payroll with People Services, reconcile salary/pension accounts, and ensure control accounts are cleared.
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts, process journals, and oversee company insurance administration

Management Accounting

• Collaborate with finance business partners to provide consolidated monthly accounts, financial statements, and cash flow reports.

Reporting

• Participate in the annual budgeting process and update the business plan until Board approval is obtained.

The Successful Applicant

• Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW, CIPFA etc)

• Experience of preparing VAT under the partial exemption regime, and a VAT shelter
• A positive approach to excellent customer service, care delivery and a commitment to quality
• Can demonstrate working independently and as finance lead with board responsibilities. (Experience in a Mid sized Housing Association is preferable).

Background

Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is a well-established charity dedicated to supporting refugees and asylum seekers from anywhere in the world who find themselves in the Royal Borough of Kingston and neighbouring boroughs. Since its foundation in 1991, RAK has been the main provider of direct services to refugees and asylum seekers as well as promoting refugee rights.

RAK aims to support refugees through the process from their initial reception in the borough through to final integration into the local community in order to enable them to live a fulfilling life and become accepted and active participants in our local communities.  We achieve this by accomplishing a variety of outcomes for refugee and asylum-seeking families through delivering a holistic service including advice, information, counselling, education, training, and assistance in access mainstream services and employment opportunities to help them rebuild their lives.

We are looking for a registered solicitor or someone qualified up to level 3, although we will also be happy to hear from people who are qualified up to IAA Level 2 Asylum. We are currently not in a position to support people to qualify for IAA Level 2, so please do not apply if you do not already have it. 

Purpose of the Post

Refugee Action Kingston provides free and independent information and advice on a one-to-one basis to refugees and asylum seekers on immigration (Level 3), welfare benefits, education, training, employment, housing, access to health and social care. Where we cannot help we refer clients to solicitors and other specialist help.

The purpose of this job is to provide an effective and efficient face-to-face Immigration Advice to IAA leve l2 or 3, within the aims, policies and principles of Refugee Action Kingston.  And to provide consultancy and advice to colleagues on Immigration and Asylum issues.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

Casework

• Provide face to face Immigration and Asylum advice and casework to IAA Level 2 or 3
• Act for the client where necessary by liaising with the Home Office, external agencies and other Immigration Advice providers in progression of a case.
• Negotiate and advocate on behalf of clients with third parties as appropriate, both verbally and in writing.
• Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
• Know and understand the limits of Level 3 IAA Advice and be prepared to refer or signpost onwards when work reaches these boundaries.
• Ensure that all casework conforms to RAK Advice Service office standards and policies.
• Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation
• Write and maintain notes on individual client cases, manually and electronically. To ensure files and appropriate records are kept in accordance with good practice and standards.

The Opportunity

The Director role is a new opportunity working across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partnerships encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. Across all our partnerships, we aim to design and deliver high-quality research and evaluation projects that help our partners make better decisions for children using good evidence.

As a Director, you will be a senior leader of the evaluation practice and a statutory director on our Practice Board. Reflecting this, you will have a key role in the success of the practice, both commercially and in terms of social impact, and help to shape and deliver the strategy for ImpactEd Evaluation as a practice within ImpactEd Group, reporting to the Practice Lead.

Job Title: Arts and Learning Strategic Lead

About the role

This is a brand new role, supporting the Head of Safe Ground with the strategic oversight and delivery of our programmes. Safe Ground has been at the forefront of designing and delivering innovative arts-based, therapeutically informed interventions within the criminal justice system and in communities across the UK. As we approach our 30th anniversary this year, we remain dedicated to challenging systematic injustice through the programmes we run and the partnerships we build. This role is a great opportunity to be part of our transformative goals, in being part of creating systematic change.

Using theatre arts, and culture, we design initiatives to support those impacted by the criminal justice system in gaining deeper insights into themselves, their relationships and their behaviours. We do this by equipping our participants with practical tools and building a community who are open to doing things differently. In this role, you will develop best practice around creative interventions, building powerful partnerships with commissioners, partners, and other key stakeholders, ensuring our programmes are being delivered to the highest standards. You will lead on the development of new and existing arts-based work, identifying gaps and opportunities for growth within the sector.

• Oversee the development of new creative ideas and programmes as well as programme adaptations and redesigns. Ideas could be linked to theatre productions in and out of custodial settings, short films, live events, symposiums, but may also include new art forms and working with new artists
• Development of a local / national facilitator network
• Create and deliver engaging high-quality programmes which support rehabilitation and reintegration for participants
• Design and deliver innovation arts-based high quality training and quality assurance support to management and delivery teams across the SIG network - focusing specifically on relationships, culture and communication, conflict resolution, storytelling, power-sharing and co-production

About you

• Previous experience in working and engaging with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Previous experience in developing, producing, and/or performing professional productions for example film, television, or theatre productions
• Proven experience in designing innovative arts-based programmes and extensive experience of facilitation of programmes and/or training for various groups
