Job description

About Picker
Picker is an Oxford-based charity with an international reputation for measuring and improving patient, service user and staff experience. Our mission is to make person-centred health and social care a reality for everyone. We work with NHS organisations, government bodies, charities and healthcare providers in the UK and internationally.

About the role
The Communications Officer plays a key role in raising Picker's profile, reputation and influence by delivering engaging communications across a range of channels. Working as part of the Platform Services team, you will help communicate Picker's research, impact and expertise to a wide range of audiences, including healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers and the public.

You will lead the day-to-day management of Picker's website and social media channels, create high-quality content including blogs, case studies, newsletters and press releases, and support the delivery of marketing campaigns for key projects, events and publications. You'll also work closely with colleagues across the organisation and external partners to ensure Picker's work reaches and engages the right audiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and proactive communications professional who enjoys combining excellent writing skills with digital marketing, website management and audience engagement to help improve health and social care.

Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working in a communications, marketing or related role.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience producing content for a range of audiences and channels.
  • Experience creating content such as blogs, case studies, newsletters, website copy and social media posts.
  • Experience managing and developing websites, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and engaging.
  • Experience using social media platforms to build engagement and develop online communities.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners.
  • A degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant discipline.

Experience using tools such as Canva, Google Analytics, Google Ads or marketing automation software would be advantageous, as would an interest in healthcare quality and person-centred care.

If you're passionate about communicating ideas that make a difference and want to help promote work that improves people's experiences of health and care, we'd love to hear from you.
