This role will lead the delivery of the Trase communication strategy over the next 5 year strategic period.

Working as part of the Impact team within Trase, alongside those engaging directly with companies, governments and financial institutions, you will lead a small team to deliver strategic communications - press, media, content production, events, social media, promotion and publicity, including outreach to multipliers and amplifiers. 

You will drive communications to support the engagement work of the Trase team, making tactical choices to best deliver the overall mission of the initiative.

Our communications work is purposeful, targeted and and evaluated for its contribution to our strategic aims - rather than Opportunity To See numbers or the number of pieces placed.

You will bring your experience of developing communications strategies on global issues working with multiple partners to find and tell the story of Trase, what we can learn from the data, and what this means for the world.

You will be part of a leading, multinational, multidisciplinary, and multilingual team of experts, working across the Trase initiative to help ensure the delivery of this exciting program of work is effective, manageable and fun. Required skills and experience:

• Track record in creating, delivering and evaluating communications plans; including press and media relations as well as a wide suite of digital communications channels.
• Experience and success in strategic communications i.e. using communications to deliver on strategic goals through many routes, including advocacy, engagement, partnership working.
• Track record of working with complex or technical information and making it accessible to a variety of audiences.
• Track record of working on global issues with multiple partners.
• Experience of building relationships with journalists, and partnering with other organisations to leverage impact.
• Experience working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, ideally in a geographically dispersed organisation.
• Management experience (line management, volunteer management, or freelance service providers).
• Fluency in English.

Desired skills and experience:

• Experience communicating messages that represent minority or underrepresented groups.
• Language skills in one or more of the Trase core languages: Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, French, Mandarin Chinese.
• Experience of working in organisations with a multi-project portfolio, and working with partner organisations.

Purpose of the job

 We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to lead and deliver strategic communications across all key external audiences. This role is central to driving awareness of the impact of UK Youth’s work, amplifying the voice of young people, and advocating for urgent action to support youth work and organisations across the UK. Key responsibilities

• Draft press releases, opinion pieces, and statements that position UK Youth as a leading voice in the youth sector. 

• Manage reactive and crisis communications, ensuring UK Youth’s reputation is protected and strengthened. 

 Campaigns & Content Development:

• Develop and oversee the production of high-impact content, including reports, blogs, speeches, and social media materials. 

• Lead on storytelling initiatives that amplify young people’s voices and highlight the real-world impact of UK Youth’s work. 

• Work collaboratively with the marketing team to align messaging across digital and traditional channels. 

 Advocacy & Influence

• Ensure UK Youth’s communications support and enhance policy and advocacy work. 

• Develop materials that translate complex policy issues into compelling, accessible messages. 

• Support campaigns that mobilise public and stakeholder support for greater investment in youth work. 

Experience

• Proven track record in strategic communications, public relations, or media engagement, preferably within the charity, public, or advocacy sectors.

• Strong background in stakeholder engagement, including working with policymakers, funders, media, and senior leadership teams.

• Experience developing and delivering crisis communication strategies.

We are looking for an Engagement Manager (East of England) to join us on a fixed term contract, for 12-months, to cover maternity leave.

About the role

The key purpose of the Engagement Manager role is to deliver regional Sight Loss Councils across the East of England and to engage with blind and partially sighted people across the region.  We currently have two Sight Loss Councils (SLCs) in this region, so the postholder will be expected to care-take and develop both SLCs, focusing on the retention of the volunteers engaged and making sure the projects and work they are involved in, continue with success. You will also be managing and developing stakeholder relationships across all the areas in which we work including transport and health sectors, as well with local authorities and arts and culture venues in the region.

You will have the passion and ability to use your lived experience or experience to influence change, for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people. As an experienced volunteer manager, you will engage and lead Sight Loss Council members in the implementation of the region’s business plans to bring about change across transport, health and the built environment, as well as areas of local interest such as arts and culture or retail.

You will be a self-starter and work well on your own but will also enjoy being a part of a team of other Engagement Managers across the country, with whom you can learn from, as well as share good practice with.

It is equally important that the post-holder is able to develop relationships within national networks, seeking inspiration and guidance from other parts of the country, to support Feeding Liverpool’s role in leading the Good Food Plan, and to act as a conduit for resources and inform work in Liverpool.

The Food Enterprise Coordinator/Lead will need to be hands-on and active within our communities. Feeding Liverpool aims to work flexibly with employees, and there will be the opportunity to work from home. However, given the nature of the role it is important that you will be able to commute to the office in Liverpool City Centre, and meetings across the city, on a regular basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Food Enterprise Coordinator/ Lead

Main Purpose of the Job:

• To support the development of a network of food businesses with the aim of establishing and embedding healthy and sustainable practices and values.

• Develop relationships with stakeholders within the food system to support the creation of shorter and more value based supply chains. 

• Develop initiatives, campaigns and strategies to promote good food businesses to the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop a network of food businesses with the aim of establishing and embedding healthy and sustainable practices and values.

• Be the food alliance’s main point of contact for Liverpool’s social, small and medium enterprises in the food sector. 

• Arrange and facilitate regular meetings to understand the challenges and priorities of the sector and how the food alliance can support them. 

• Work with existing partners to develop a Good Food Business Charter, and support other local food enterprises to become network members and adopt the principles set out in the charter. 

Develop relationships with stakeholders within the food system to support the creation of shorter and more value based supply chains. 

• Alongside key stakeholders, develop a shared definition of what ‘local food’ is, taking into account the capacity of the local supply chain and the needs of procurers.

• Work alongside local food system ‘actors’ to establish connections between procurers and the local supply chain, and identify barriers that require mitigation. 

• Support innovative ways to support local, value based supply chains taking effect. 

• Provide support for both established and newly developed local food access initiatives — including markets, food hubs, and community retail schemes — that enhance community access to healthy and sustainable food. 

Develop initiatives and campaigns to promote good food businesses to the public. 

• Explore existing activities that promote good food enterprises to the public in Liverpool, and align them to the Good Food Plan and Sustainable Food Place Silver Award application. 

• Promote Liverpool’s good food enterprises to the public through well-aligned campaigns, events, and communications.

General Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with Feeding Liverpool’s team, trustees, and external partners to achieve strategic objectives.

• Promote the ethos of the Good Food Plan in all activities.

• Maintain confidentiality and align all actions with Feeding Liverpool’s values.

Reporting to: Feeding Liverpool Director
Hours of Work: 30- 37.5 hours per week, subject to negotiation (some evening/weekend work may be required).
Notice Period: Three months
Salary: £27,500 - £37,000 per year, dependent on experience (pro rata).
Location: Liverpool region. Hybrid working at home, in communities and in Feeding Liverpool’s office (L1 area).

We are working in partnership with SongBird Survival, an independent charity working to solve the ecological crisis for songbirds through scientific research, to secure their new Scientific Research and Impact Manager.

Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. Their goals are to drive impactful conservation through scientific research, protect songbirds by raising awareness and inspiring action, and safeguarding the most at-risk songbird species in the UK. SongBird Survival do this by commissioning independent scientific research into the causes of the catastrophic decline in songbird numbers, translating research findings into actionable strategies, which aim to make a tangible difference in the protection and preservation of songbird populations. They also campaign for change, working with other NGOs and policymakers.

The Scientific Research and Impact Manager role is at the heart of SongBird Survival’s mission, ensuring that their research not only advances scientific understanding but also influences policy change, engages stakeholders, and strengthens communications and fundraising strategies. The postholder will oversee research projects, build key partnerships, and turn findings into practical conservation strategies. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Degree level education in Ecology or an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience, with comprehensive knowledge of songbird and other small bird ecology.
• Knowledge and understanding of how scientific research is commissioned and delivered, as well as the ability to assimilate and appraise relevant information.
• Track record of translating scientific findings into policy, communications and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of UK environmental policy and its impact on conservation efforts.
