Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation is looking for a Challenge Events Lead to oversee one of the most high-profile areas of our fundraising. You’ll manage our participation in major third-party events such as the London Marathon, London Landmarks Half, Brighton Marathon and Ultra Challenges, ensuring supporters have an excellent experience while helping us raise vital income for our hospitals.

This is a senior role within the events fundraising team, giving you responsibility for relationships with external organisers, place allocations, supporter recruitment and stewardship. You’ll make sure that every runner, walker or cyclist feels supported from sign-up through to the finish line, building loyalty and long-term commitment to our cause.

You’ll also guide the Events Fundraising Co-ordinator, working together to keep everything running smoothly and to deliver first-class supporter care.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the Foundation’s involvement in flagship third-party events including the London Marathon and London Landmarks Half
• Leading relationships with external organisers and agencies, acting as the main point of contact
• Overseeing place allocations, ballots and registration processes
• Planning supporter communications, ensuring every participant feels valued and engaged
• Developing campaigns to recruit new participants through grassroots marketing and digital channels
• Managing budgets and keeping income and participation on target
• Working alongside and supporting the Events Fundraising Co-ordinator to ensure consistency and high standards across all activity

Position Title: Helpline Advisor
Reports To: Helpline Supervisor
Salary: £27,000 (0.5 FTE)
Hours: 20 hours/week (including 3 shifts/week, 5 hours each)

Role Purpose:

The Helpline Advisor will be the first point of contact for individuals reporting incidents of anti-Muslim hate. The role requires delivering empathetic, confidential, and high-quality support to callers, as well as accurately recording reports and ensuring all relevant procedures are followed.

Helpline Advisors will support service users via multiple channels—phone, email, SMS, online chat and web form, by listening actively, offering appropriate information, and making referrals to specialist services where required. They will work closely with the Helpline Supervisor and participate in debriefs and reflective practice after each shift or reported incident.

Advisors will also play an important role in ensuring accurate data capture, safeguarding procedures, and upholding the values of compassion, non-judgement, and confidentiality.

Role Responsibilities: 

• Answer incoming calls from victims of hate crime with empathy and professionalism.
   

• Provide support to service users using a variety of methods, including telephone, email, SMS, online chat, online forms, and other written reports.
   

• Provide clear, appropriate advice, support, and information to service users, using a non-judgemental and person-centred approach.
   

• Keep accurate, detailed electronic records of each contact, including advice given, support offered, and agreed referrals.
   

• Understand when it is necessary to seek support from more experienced colleagues or external agencies and take appropriate action.
   

• Make referrals to other agencies when necessary, including child and adult protection concerns, on the advice of senior staff.
   

• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with data protection and safeguarding policies.
   

• Engage sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who may be distressed, traumatised, or in crisis (trauma-informed approach)

Person Specification: 

• Experience in helpline, support work, or similar client-facing roles.
   

• Understanding of hate crime and its impacts, particularly on Muslim communities.

• Strong understanding and knowledge of anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia.
   

• Excellent understanding of British Muslim communities, their diversity, and everyday practices.

• Experience working with marginalised communities or individuals affected by discrimination or trauma is an asset.

• Familiarity with call-handling software or CRMs (e.g., RingCentral, Zoho) is desirable but not necessary.

Role purpose

To provide efficient, high-quality administrative and communications support to the Foundation and its Head of Foundation. The Administrative Officer will act as a central point of contact for internal and external enquiries, oversee day-to-day office administration, manage correspondence, and support the Foundation’s communications, events, and compliance activities.

This role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to support the smooth running of the Foundation.

Key duties and responsibilities

Administration and office support

· Act as the first point of contact (phone, email, in-person) for enquiries, providing professional and courteous service.

· Manage correspondence, including drafting, proofreading, and responding to routine communications.

· Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and databases.

· Support scheduling, diary management, and meeting coordination for the Head of Foundation.

The Owned Events Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity’s evolving portfolio of owned and virtual fundraising events — a strategically important area of growth for the organisation.  

Working as part of a dynamic and cross-functional fundraising team, this role leads on the planning, execution and scaling of original event products — from large-scale mass participation experiences like the St Thomas’ Abseil, to creative, insight-driven virtual campaigns and supporter-led challenges. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of owned and virtual fundraising events — from concept through to post-event evaluation — ensuring operational excellence, creativity, and supporter satisfaction.
• Deliver large-scale in-person events such as the St Thomas’ Abseil, including venue and supplier coordination, safety planning, risk management, insurance, and on-the-day execution.

Work environment

• The post holder should expect to:

• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

As a Health Editor, you’ll play a key role in doing this, through creating and commissioning high-quality written, audio and video content to support people with heart conditions.

You will generate ideas and produce high-quality, engaging and accurate content in a variety of formats (e.g. video, quizzes, infographics, interactive tools) across a range of channels (including web, email, print).

Collaborating with colleagues and other teams, you’ll use data and insight to inform the creation and optimisation of content; ensuring the people who need our support are at the heart of everything we do.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you bring experience of writing, editing and proof-reading content (ideally health content) and interviewing people for first-person stories and journalistic features.

With the ability to work quickly under pressure, prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines, you have experience of creating and/or managing the creation of multimedia content (e.g., video, animation, interactive tools), working on a print or magazine product, and generating and gathering ideas for content (including by audience insight and SEO techniques).

Flexible and open to challenges, you will be great at producing high-quality, engaging and accurate content, collaborating with you team and colleagues across the business.

Able to understand complex medical or scientific materials, you will ideally have a background in health, and/or a good level of science literacy.

Working arrangements 

This is a part time role working 21 hours per week as part of a job share. Ideally working days would include Tuesday as a cross-over day between the job share partners but flexibility around this can be discussed.

The salary range shown is the full time equivalent and will be pro rata for part time hours.

This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week, on average, in our London Office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

One in 2,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, which are a group of conditions, including haemophilia and von Willebrand disorder, that result when the blood cannot clot properly. 

As many as a third of bleeding disorder diagnoses have no known family history and can be the result of a random gene mutation. This means a bleeding disorder diagnosis can come completely out of the blue.

THS brings together people with bleeding disorders and their families to share experiences and understand more about how to live well with a bleeding disorder. Together, we can all make a difference.

About the role

We’re incredibly lucky to have a generous and dedicated community who are always looking for new ways to support our work. We are looking for a passionate fundraiser who can take ownership of our community fundraising and empower our members and supporters in their fundraising ventures. The role of the Direct Marketing Executive is a varied one. Working with different teams and suppliers, you will be supporting and delivering direct marketing campaigns across a range of media channels. The acquisition programme is an evolving one and there is change and growth happening in a lot of interesting areas at a fast pace.

As well as running day-to-day activities, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the wider acquisition team by ensuring data and supporter engagement processes are running smoothly across campaigns. Team and Programme Support

· Tracking and evaluating competitor and industry trends, collaborating with the other Direct Marketing Executive to provide recommendations to the wider team for potential improvements and testing opportunities.

· Keep up to date on the latest developments within the sector relating to best practice in fundraising.

· Proof-read direct marketing materials and collateral.

· Regularly attend, support, and contribute to meetings and events.

· Ensure compliance and adherence to the most recent regulations and codes of practice.

 

What we are looking for:

· Experience of using Microsoft packages; particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

· Proof reading.

· Administrative experience.

· Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.

· Willingness to collaborate and work closely with other departments and external suppliers.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to communicate with people of all levels.

· Strong team player and self-motivator.

· Strong focus on results and continuous improvement.

· Flexibility to work some unsocial hours and willingness to travel independently.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Our Office: Our office is at 3 Riverside, Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge, CB21 6AD. 

Salary: Circa £24,000 per annum, plus benefits
