We are looking for a talented and experienced Research Manager to help us manage and be responsible for our research grants programme. This includes maintenance of our existing grant portfolio as well as management of our national funding calls and the award of new grants. The role requires the development of close working relationships with research stakeholders including our staff, the members of our Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP), our grant-holders and funding partners.

We currently have 38 active research grants, and award approximately £1.5 million of new grants each year. 

The Research Manager runs the grants programme with support from the CEO. In addition, you will work closely with the Communications Manager on research communications. 

You will be a self-starter, able to self-motivate and thrive on working with a range of individuals and organisations. You will be a skilled communicator, working with a variety of stakeholders, including our SAP, our Fundraising and Communications team and our grant holders. 

A successful Research Manager at Brain Research UK will have a full grasp of all elements of grant management. You will have a close working relationship with the fundraising and communications team to provide, in lay terms, explanations of projects to our donors. You will help drive excellence in our grant assessment and management processes, to ensure the best research is funded and appropriately managed.

About the role

As Senior Finance & Operations Manager at Future Frontiers, your role is to oversee the finance and operations functions for an ambitious social mobility charity with an income of circa £1.4m and a team of 20 people committed to achieving lasting impact for young people.

You will oversee day-to-day financial operations, manage a small team, and deliver accurate, timely reporting that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation. You will work closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure robust financial planning, compliance, and risk management. Your work will support and enable Future Frontiers’ mission and help us maximise our impact.

Your responsibilities

The focus of this role is on financial management and reporting for the organisation, as well as overseeing operations such as HR processes and IT. Core responsibilities include:

Financial Management and Reporting

• Run the monthly finance cycle to strict deadlines, ensuring accurate and complete data to support decision-making.
• Deliver concise monthly management accounts and variance analysis vs budget in a timely manner with insightful commentary to inform the CEO, SLT and Trustees.
• Oversee receipts and payments, reconciliations, and month-end procedures to ensure data accuracy and robust financial oversight.
• Lead on statutory accounts preparation and external audit to ensure full compliance and smooth audit outcomes.
• Continuously improve financial policies and processes to embed best practice and compliance with relevant legislation and Charity SORP.

Financial Planning

• Prepare annual budget documents, working closely with budget holders and supporting with forecasting and revisions to ensure realistic, well-informed financial plans that align with organisational strategy.
• Produce consolidated accounts, forecasts, and cashflows with commentary to support Trustees’ and SLT’s decision-making.
• Partner with SLT to provide financial analysis that drives operational efficiency and supports income generation and strategic projects.
• Support the SLT to develop multi-year income and expenditure forecasts to aid long-term funding and resource planning.
• Ensure the finance system structure, workflows and reporting remain fit for purpose and effectively support operations.

Operations and Compliance

• Manage relationships with key suppliers and outsourced providers, including landlords, payroll, pensions and insurers to ensure service quality and value for money.
• Oversee the recruitment and on-boarding of new staff, supporting the Finance & Operations Officer to coordinate the process, and supporting recruiting managers as needed.
• Ensure the maintenance of templates and processes to enable line managers to deliver the staff journey including inductions, staff surveys, annual reviews, and exits.
• Oversee the efficient usage of our database, systems and key platforms (including Salesforce, Xero, website), ensuring that the team is well resourced and has sufficient training to perform their roles.
• Oversee the management of IT hardware, software and systems, helping to keep Future Frontiers’ information secure and up to date, and acting as key liaison with third parties.
• Remain up-to-date on Charity SORP, legislation and sector best practice, supporting the CEO to ensure Future Frontiers remains compliant with HMRC, CC, ICO etc and is forward-looking.

People Management and Training

• Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Finance & Operations team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, ambition and excellence within the team.
• Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
• Support the building of financial literacy and understanding within the charity through training and supporting non-finance colleagues.
• Share your expertise and experience with colleagues across Future Frontiers to help foster a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

Wider contribution

• Contribute to department-, directorate- and organisation-wide projects and priorities through membership of project groups or taking on pieces of work in line with your skills, experience and development objectives
• Act as an ambassador for Future Frontiers, our cause and values in all engagements and communications with customers, suppliers, partners and supporters.

About you

• Experience, knowledge and qualifications
• Finance and accounting experience, ideally in a charity context (essential)
• Hold or be working towards a recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA (essential) 
• Demonstrable, up-to-date knowledge of Charity SORP (FRS 102) and financial regulations (essential)
• Strong understanding of financial systems, reporting tools and Excel, ideally with experience of using Xero or an equivalent system (essential)

We are seeking a dynamic Finance Manager to take charge of all fiscal matters to enable the charities work to continue to flourish and grow.  The post holder will be a member of the Senior Management Team and be responsible to the CEO, therefore they will be expected to contribute to the development of the charity.

The responsibilities of this post are:-

• Create and record monthly sale invoices to send to clients and customers and credit control
• Process supplier invoices
• Manage petty cash, credit cards and cash flow
• Undertake payroll, expenses and pensions
• Check monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations,
• Prepare the annual financial budgets in conjunction with the Senior Management Team and CEO
• Prepare monthly accounts and reports comparing actual expenditure to budget for St James Centre and report any major variances to the CEO
• Prepare a summary financial report for Board Members (approximately 6 times per year)
• Work with the company auditors to support the preperation of he Annual Accounts

Person Specification:  You will need to have at least an AAT Level 4 qualification or a full or part qualified accountant ACCA/CIMA and a minimum of 3 years experience of managing finance in a medium sized Organisation. Excellent IT skills in Moneysoft, Sage, Excel and Word are needed. Knowledge of the Voluntary Sector is helpful. Willing to complete an enhanced DBS.
 

The job will be full time, which is 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.  Flexible start and finish time are avilable, around the core hours of 10am to 4pm, but we do require you to work from our Centre in Derby.

The salary is £35,921 per annum.  We offer 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.

Action for Stammering Children is the national charity for children and young people who stammer, their families and the communities who support them.

We exist to ensure that every child who stammers has the support, respect and confidence to live the life they want to lead.

Founded in 1989, we provide support and information to young people, families and professionals; champion research into childhood stammering; and campaign for policy and societal change. 

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced community manager enthusiastic about engaging our supporters, volunteers and fundraisers. In this role, you will be responsible for community outreach; effectively communicating our brand identity to help us  build and cultivate our supporter base. Line Management Reports: Clinical Managers, Outreach Therapist/s, and support staff.

Volunteers support our reception function on extended opening hours (after 5pm).

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Functions

 Working with the Board/ Trustees to develop ICAP’s clinical strategy including:

- Reporting to icap’s Board, on progress against icap’s clinical and operational strategy,

- Preparing Board Reports and Risk Register

- Deputise for the CEO.

Work with CGSC chair and trustee members to:

- Develop clinically appropriate Policies, Procedures and Processes. Promote a culture of learning within the clinical team, ensuring therapists are up to date and engaged with data collection, reporting and monitoring.

- To pro-actively participate as a member of icap’s Executive Team, attending board meetings, Clinical Governance Sub Committee meetings and a regular calendar of fundraising events

 Clinical Facing function:

Work with the Clinical Managers to support them with the day-to-day management of the clinical service.  Line Management oversight of the Supervision function of the organisation. Act as the DSL for Adult Safeguarding including the training, risk management, recording and reporting of all safeguarding activity. Ensure icap’s strategic objectives are understood and supported across the Clinical service. Review the Client Contribution policy to include full cost charging for services.

Oversee the Implementation and roll out of CORE CMS across the service. (New project)

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

 Clinical Leadership and Management experience in a small or similar organisation. Managing and working with minoritised or deprived groups with multiple barriers and limited access to psychotherapy. Experience of producing Board reports and working with commissioners, developing funding applications, and service level agreements for Clinical services. Experience of Clinical Governance and reporting targets and outcomes.

Training and 6+ years direct experience in using psychotherapeutic and trauma informed approaches with recognised post graduate psychotherapy qualification. Accreditation with either BPC, UKCP, BACP, ICP, NCPS and/or IACP. Evidence of up-to-date practice as recommended by relevant professional body.

Knowledge and experience of SharePoint and the Microsoft suite of tools.

5 billion people do not have access to safe, affordable surgical and anaesthesia care when needed. Can you help us address this neglected area of global health? 

Surgery and anaesthesia have a fundamental and growing impact on global health outcomes. Surgical intervention could address over 30% of the global burden of disease, and yet the poorest 33% of people receive just 3.5% of all surgery. Post-operative mortality rates 1,000 times higher than in some high-income countries can be found in parts of the world where surgery and anaesthesia have been neglected, and in some countries as many as 90% of anaesthetic departments do not have the equipment to provide a safe anaesthetic for a child. 

With 142 Member Societies made up of anaesthesiologists in 151 countries, the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) is uniquely placed to influence these inequalities and help ensure universal access to safe surgery and safe anaesthesia.

As Governance Manager you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, professional, and effective governance service across the Federation and associated entities. You will work closely with our CEO, Governance & Programmes Officer, Board and other volunteers and leaders as required to deliver a number of key governance activities. This includes virtual and in-person meetings of the WFSA Board, Council, and General Assembly.

You will contribute to the expanding governance functions of the Federation family, with a focus on streamlining processes, improving organisational efficiency, and enhancing leadership communication and collaboration. There may also be a degree of mentoring and support for some of our smaller Member Societies wishing to improve their own governance functions. 

The role necessitates building effective working relationships across WFSA, including with Board, Council and Committee members, as well as the Secretariat (what we call our staff team).

Hybrid working is offered with up to three days per week able to be worked remotely and two days spent in our small office in North London. The role will involve some international travel and evening/weekend hours at times.

Through this Dutch registration, WFSA also holds not-for-profit status with tax exemption in the USA (known as: 501(c)3 status). The Federation is headquartered in the United Kingdom. Since 2016, WFSA has also had a separate humanitarian arm, “WFSA (UK)”, which is registered as a charitable company in England & Wales. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Support

• Act as liaison between the CEO and internal and external stakeholders, drafting communications and ensuring clear, timely information flow; supporting scheduling of meetings and tracking of actions and, with support from the CRM Manager, ensuring key contacts and relationship data are accurately and securely maintained on the organisation’s central database.
• Coordinate meetings and agendas with the CEO, Director of Finance and Operations, Chair of the Board, and Board sub-committees; manage papers and follow-up actions.
• Organise external meetings, including venue liaison, room bookings, and travel arrangements.
• Provide administrative support to the Senior Management Team (SMT), including preparing reports, presentations, and other materials as required.
• Coordinate SMT and Programme Board meetings including compilation and circulation of agendas and supporting documents.
• Prepare regular status updates on project progress; maintain a record of agreed actions from meetings and liaise with team members to gather updates and ensure timely completion.

Board Support & Impact Reporting

• Support board-level processes by coordinating meeting logistics; prepare, compile and circulate materials including agendas, minutes, reports, and presentations;.
• Maintain accurate records of meetings including tracking and reporting on Board decisions and action items, ensuring timely follow-up and completion.
• Assist in developing and maintaining risk management and impact reporting frameworks and tools for the Trustee Board.
• Collect, analyse, and report on data related to AVUK’s strategic programme impact and outcomes.

Governance and Additional EA Support Duties

• Support the Director of Finance and Operations and Operations Manager to ensure AVUK’s legal obligations regarding governance, record-keeping and reporting requirements are maintained.
• Oversee office management and liaise with landlords at AVUK centres in London, Bicester, and flexible workspaces in Glasgow and Leeds.
• Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CEO or Senior Management Team, including planning and execution.

Fundraising and income generation

• Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.

A leading national charity at the forefront of reproductive healthcare is seeking a compassionate and strategic clinical leader to join its Executive Team as Chief Medical Officer. Each year, this organisation supports over 100,000 women and couples across more than 55 clinics, with the vast majority of services funded by the NHS. In addition to abortion care, the charity also provides contraception, STI screening, counselling, vasectomy, and contact centre support to ensure faster access to care.

The Role

The Chief Medical Officer will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, with responsibility for the clinical strategy and medical workforce. They will act as the organisation’s Responsible Officer, overseeing professional standards and revalidation, while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance are maintained.

Working in close partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer and Deputy Chief of Nursing, Midwifery and Quality, the postholder will co-lead the development and delivery of clinical strategy, ensuring services are ethical, sustainable, and firmly grounded in person-centred care. They will also provide expert clinical advice to the Board and offer visible leadership across the organisation.

Externally, the Chief Medical Officer will act as an ambassador, engaging with regulators, NHS partners, academic institutions and professional bodies to influence change, build collaboration, and advocate for reproductive rights.

The Person

• Full registration with the GMC and evidence of revalidation

Executive and Finance Officer

We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised Executive and Finance Officer to play a vital role in the operations of Centre for Mental Health.

This varied and interesting role supports our CEO and Board, managing day-to-day operations and taking on key finance and HR responsibilities. This will include financial support: reconciling accounts, processing invoices, supporting our Board by organising meetings and helping with many aspects of recruitment, onboarding and assisting our staff team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our team’s success.

You will need to bring outstanding organisational skills, strong IT ability, and experience in financial processes (with knowledge of Sage 50). Experience of working in a charity is desirable.
