This role will include supporting birth relatives to meet with adoptive parents and to help birth relatives understand the importance for children, to keep connected to their relatives and significant people from their past.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with birth relatives whose children have been placed for adoption and you will have a good understanding of the adoption process.  You will work with relatives from a range of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences and those who may be neuro diverse and you will need to demonstrate understanding, respectfulness and adaptability to your social work practice.

The programme holds a particular focus on trauma and trauma-informed practice, including a specialist module on working with the impact of trauma, and on trauma-informed practice in education. The programme runs for one year full-time, or two years part-time.

Job Title: Partnership Development Manager

Salary: £34,500.

When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.  

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.   

Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

• Making use of multiple tactics to secure meetings with prospects including, for example, cold calling, emailing, running events, event networking and social selling on platforms like LinkedIn.
• Ensuring that risk-screening and due diligence processes have been completed in line with Magic Breakfast’s Ethical Fundraising and Due Diligence policies. 
• Understanding each prospect’s strategic interests through meetings, discussions and research and defining the mutual advantage in partnership. 
• Developing and delivering engaging, relevant and impactful pitches and written proposals to prospective partners.

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Purpose of the Operations Manager role: 

As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the effective day to day management of key business support services including operations, IT data and premises. The role includes line manage responsibilities of the inhouse team as well as maintaining key relationships with outsourced companies to ensure objectives are met.

 

Key duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager:

Operations: 

• Manage the non-pay elements of the Operations Budget, including IT budget. (approximately £400K annually)

This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practices to support our work in our services nationwide. As well as this, you will design, deliver and evaluate high-quality safeguarding and practice training to support and develop our direct practice colleagues.

We are currently looking for someone with a wealth of safeguarding experience and confidence in training delivery to join our dynamic, ambitious team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to:

-Provide safeguarding advice, guidance and instruction

-Design, development, review and delivery of safeguarding-related training across the organisation.

-The delivery of quality practice-related activity within the Youth Impact domain.

-Contribute to relevant cross-organisational groups, such as policy development.

-Manage internal audits, case file reviews, internal fact-finding, and leading learning reviews of safeguarding and quality practice-related matters.

Background - Number Champions

We set up Number Champions in 2018 to transform the lives of children in state primary schools who struggle with numeracy or lack confidence in maths.  We employed our first staff member, our Head of Operations (HoO), in 2022 and our second, an administrator, in 2023.. 

We are the only charity systematically working in-person with young children in our field.  Early support will put children on track to achieve their full life potential in a world where some fluency with maths is an essential building block. Success in this one area can increase their self-esteem and their involvement in education as a whole. 

Now in our sixth year, we are working across 14 London boroughs in 32 partner schools, with over 110 In-School Volunteers supporting more than 300 children. We plan to increase these numbers each year. Our medium-term vision is to expand across London, while maintaining the highly positive impact we have achieved to date. 

We are proud to have received two national awards last year recognising the work of our volunteers, and we are currently shortlisted for a 2024 award.

The Administrator role 

Our HoO has taken the lead in developing the charity and in giving us the capacity to expand further while maintaining quality of delivery. The administrator reports to the HoO and manages the bulk of the administration processes of the charity.  

The role is for an equivalent of 2 days a week, during school term-time only. It will be almost all remote, although you will be expected to attend occasional meetings in Central London (or possibly North London if that is more convenient for you). 

We intend the role to be permanent, but we are offering an 11-month contract September to July pending confirmation of funding. 

Impact on the organisation 

You will take on key responsibilities for administration and for contact with different groups of stakeholders. In a small professional team, you will have the opportunity to suggest ideas and to influence the development of the charity.

Core responsibilities 

• Manage the administration processes of onboarding volunteers and schools
• Gather, capture, and maintain the charity’s data in our management system
• Communicate with volunteers and with office and finance staff at partner schools
• Raise invoices
• Manage basic bookkeeping
• Assist in purchasing
• Provide occasional cover for other staff, as required
• Other activities as required from time to time to support the HoO, SRM, and charity.

Required skills and experience 

• Administrative or professional background
• Attentiveness to accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (and knowledge of Google Suite would be advantageous)
•  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive working relationships remotely with staff, volunteers, and schools

Basic bookkeeping experience is desirable but not essential.

Benefits 

25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, prorated for a 2-day-a-week role. 

(Although the role is for only 39 weeks a year we will pay you for  33 days annual holiday reduced only by 2/5 for working 2 days a week.  This increases your take home pay by about 4% compared to also reducing holidays by 39/52 for weeks worked.)

Role Summary:

As the In2careers Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the alumni offer which is the In2careers platform. This currently includes a mentoring scheme, monthly newsletter, online workshops, Alumni Conference, job boards and more.

You will be responsible for developing any new activities and initiatives for this platform that build on our aim of getting young people from low socio-economic backgrounds into employment. 

Duties and Responsibilities

As the In2careers Manager you will be someone who enjoys working with young people and has an understanding of the barriers facing young people from low socio-economic backgrounds to access higher education and STEM careers.

This role sits within the Development team but has strong links across the organisation.  This role has elements of fundraising mixed with programme delivery and will suit someone who can get excited about programme development and delivery as well as building lasting partnerships with key funders.
 

Your specific areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to:

• Evaluating current activities and developing new ideas and initiatives for the programme

• Securing partners that support the mission of this programme

• Generating income for the programme

• Developing and delivering the ongoing Alumni mentoring programme

• Online and in person event development, management and delivery, including careers fair and networking events

• Generating relevant content for the platform

• Maintaining up to date records through the programme’s database, supporting

• Managing the evaluation of the programmes in collaboration with the Operations team

• Communicating Alumni activities to the wider team

• Supporting team members to create reports and other Alumni data related activities

• An understanding of social and economic barriers that prevent some young people from progressing to higher education and STEM careers.
