Knowledge and experience 

You will bring: 

• A strong track record of developing and securing income through partnerships, sponsorship, membership, and/or charitable funding
• Experience building and managing commercial or strategic partnerships, including identifying opportunities and maintaining long-term relationships
• Experience designing and delivering programmes involving multiple stakeholders, sectors, and/or geographies
• The ability to develop robust business cases, including assessing opportunities, risks, and resource requirements
• Experience growing and engaging professional networks, memberships, or cross-sector communities
• Confidence working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments

Knowledge of the mental health, healthcare, design, or built environment sectors is welcome, but not essential.

The Paralegal will support the Legal team by providing high-quality legal and governance assistance across a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, data protection, charity governance, and compliance. This role will help ensure the organisation operates effectively, ethically, and in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, while supporting the charity’s wider mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

· Support the Legal & Compliance team with commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing, redlining, and contract lifecycle management.

· Assist with data protection compliance and related processes, including maintaining confidentiality and supporting GDPR obligations.

· Support governance, company secretarial, and charity law related matters as required.

· Conduct legal and regulatory research on matters affecting the charity and non-profit sector.

· Maintain accurate legal records, filing systems, and documentation.

· Assist with the preparation and management of policies, agreements, and governance materials.

· Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across departments, escalating legal or compliance risks appropriately.

· Liaise with external legal advisers, regulators, trustees, and other stakeholders where necessary.

· Monitor legal and compliance deadlines to ensure timely action.

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Law degree (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ Paralegal or relevant legal support experience.

· Experience supporting commercial contracts.

· Sound understanding of data protection principles and confidentiality requirements.

· Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

· Good judgement, including the ability to assess legal or operational risk and escalate appropriately.

· Confident user of Microsoft Office and comfortable working with legal processes and documentation.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Collaborative, proactive, and service-oriented approach.

As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Pembroke House is a centre for social action and residential community based in Walworth, SE17. We are seeking a dynamic freelancer to activate our newly opened outdoor Courtyard at the Walworth Living Room, while also maximising the use of capacity within the main building.

Contract Focus

Our focus is to establish the Courtyard at the Walworth Living Room as a premier summer destination through a vibrant social events programme and a high-quality local food offer, while developing a sustainable business model for courtyard activities.

Our focus times for the first stages are Friday evenings and Saturday daytimes/evenings, and we are particularly interested in attracting those living and working locally who are not available during the currently daytime opening hours of the Walworth Living Room, including young professionals and families.

You will have strong foundations to build on, including a strong programme of activities already underway at the Walworth Living Room, a semi-regular pop-up from Kaieteur Kitchen and growing local awareness of the Walworth Living Room as a venue.

Walworth Living Room

The Living Room offers a comfortable and welcoming space where people can drop in, have a cup of tea, and connect with their neighbours. We host a wide range of regular activities—from collage to ESOL classes to brunch to chess/board games—providing accessible and enjoyable ways for people to build relationships.

This regular programme is complemented by workshops, discussions, and creative sessions on topics such as sustainable food systems, local social services, housing rights, community art projects, and responses to current social issues.

The Courtyard

We now have an exciting opportunity to take the Walworth Living Room to the next stage by activating the spacious courtyard through new landscaping, introduction of a new food hatch (created from a converted shipping container) and new connections through to the large activity spaces within the main building. This development will extend the use of the site beyond the building itself, creating a more vibrant and inclusive environment for the community.

The courtyard can be integrated with the indoor spaces - including a large main hall (100 sqm) and a smaller lounge area (45 sqm) - allowing for flexible and simultaneous use across the site. Together, these spaces can support a wide range of activities and events.

The overall aim of this contract is to use these enhanced facilities to attract a broader and more diverse community, establish the Walworth Living Room as a well-known local destination, and create a space where there is always something happening for everyone.

Contract Terms

● Duration: 4 months (with potential for extension).

● Total Fee: £14560 (e.g. 3 days @ £280 per day).

● Location: On-site at Pembroke House estate, Walworth, SE17.

● Budget: There will be a small working budget to cover the costs related to this work.

Deliverables

We are looking to award a contract to an individual to deliver the following specific project outputs:

● Deliverable 1: Summer Events Programme. Design and execute social and cultural events on Fridays and Saturdays to attract various target audiences.

● Deliverable 2: Marketing & Audience Strategy. Produce and implement a marketing campaign utilizing free resources (Google Ads, Eventbrite) and targeted local outreach to build a consistent audience.

● Deliverable 3: Food & Beverage (F&B) Setup. Oversee the kit-out and setup of the shipping-container as a point of sale and service hatch, in coordination with the existing Walworth Living Room kitchen.

● Deliverable 4: F&B model. Establish a collaborative model with a pool of local food partners, including the setup of the shipping-container point-of-sale and kitchen kit-out.

● Deliverable 5: Operations & Compliance Pack. Create a suite of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for kitchen use, including food safety vetting for food vendors , and on-site fire evacuation procedures.

● Deliverable 6: Financial Viability & Data Report. Produce a final report supported by performance data (footfall, revenue, community reach) and recommended business models for future sustainable seasons.

● Deliverable 7: On-site Execution. Lead the safe and compliant operation of all scheduled events, acting as the primary premises supervisor and fire warden during activation.

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have:

● Operational Leadership: Proven experience running or supporting commercial/semi-commercial event spaces or F&B operations.

● Strategic Mindset: Ability to develop and test business models based on data and community feedback.

● Compliance Rigour: Minimum Level 2 Food Safety certification (Level 3 desirable) and a strong understanding of H&S and licensing. Current Personal Licence holder, or willing to obtain one, in order to oversee the sale of alcohol onsite.

● Community Engagement: Experience working with diverse communities and a passion for the vision of Pembroke House.

● Invoices: Submitted monthly

As Commercial and Legal Support Officer you will provide practical, hands-on legal and contract support across the organisation and contribute to meeting objective as we implement a new, temporary structure as part of a planned sabbatical. This is an opportunity to help colleagues manage legal risk well, improve how we work with third parties, and ensure the charity can deliver timely, proportionate support across a varied and busy portfolio of activity.

The Pop-up Shop Lead will manage all aspects of the Derry Castle Street Pop Up Shop, including leading and supporting volunteers, maximising income generation and ensuring an excellent customer and donor experience.

As this is a newly established pop-up shop, the post holder will play a key role in setting up, developing and embedding the shop within the local community during its first year of operation. This includes building volunteer capacity, developing donation streams, establishing effective shop systems and contributing to the evaluation of the pop-up model to inform future retail development.

They will manage and deliver the Income Generation strategy, annual operational plan, and income forecasting and develop accurate annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against plan and meeting KPIs and targets.
We are looking for an individual able to demonstrate a good track record of success in achieving and exceeding set income targets in corporate fundraising as well as devising, driving and delivering corporate fundraising plans. Excellent written and creative skills, with experience in developing relationships is crucial as is the ability to organise, prioritise, and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines. Strong networking skills with the ability to manage high-profile relationships professionally and tactfully are essential.

You will work to forge and sustain long-term, constructive partnerships with new and existing partners that help us grow funds and achieve our charitable goals. You will: 

· quickly learn and be able to articulate well our campaigns and victim service and their evidence base, our funding need, and the actions that corporates can and should take to prioritise safe and green use of roads, through funding us and supporting our campaigns

· find and unlock access to senior leads within companies not already working with us (e.g., public affairs, communications and corporate social relationship teams) as well as taking up the reins of stewarding relationships with some of the companies already working with us

· listen and understand corporates’ priorities, understanding their budgets, potential to fundraise within their teams and networks, and their safety, sustainability, policy and pr priorities; and articulate what Brake does and our need for help

· forge, together, actionable joint plans that generate funds for Brake from a company, directly or through their supply chain / customers. You will achieve six figure funding targets, by generating five figure funds from new and existing partners

The Conference Manager (FTC) plays a significant part in delivering Hospice UK’s programme of conferences for our hospice membership. As a newly created position, you will take the lead on our one-day conferences while also supporting the delivery of our annual National Conference. 

Our conferences are central to our strategic aim of bringing the sector together to share expertise, collaborate and celebrate innovation. Your work will ensure our conferences are delivered to a high standard and that hospice delegates have access to relevant and timely learning opportunities.

The Team

The Conference team is made up of the Senior Conference manager and the Programmes Team Administrator, with support from the Deputy Director of Programmes, Director of Programmes and subject matter experts across the organisation.

It is a mighty team of two, managing a portfolio of 5 in person conferences across the year, from our role focused one-day conferences of around 130 - 150 delegates to our annual National Conference, which welcomes over 1000 delegates.Our team works across the organisation and collaborates with lots of internal and external stakeholders. 

About You

You will have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and be confident building relationships with a wider range of stakeholders.
