We’re now looking for an experienced Project Manager (Partnerships & Communities) to lead the delivery of complex, high‑impact programmes across England and Scotland – working with partners, funders, colleagues and people with lived experience to turn strategy into action.

You’ll lead projects end‑to‑end – from early concept and funding through to mobilisation, delivery, evaluation and legacy – ensuring programmes are well governed, well delivered and genuinely impactful.
In this varied and high-profile role, you will be:
- Managing a diverse portfolio of projects, campaigns and partnerships, delivered to agreed scope, budget, timelines and quality
- Working closely with external partners, funders and suppliers to coordinate delivery and maximise impact
- Applying consistent, high‑quality project management standards, documentation and governance throughout the project lifecycle
- Leading risk, safeguarding, health & safety and compliance management across community‑focused programmes
- Producing board, partner and audit‑ready reporting, giving clear visibility of progress, risks, outcomes and learning
- Leading impact reporting and evaluation – turning data and insight into evidence, learning and future opportunity
- Managing project budgets, resources and supplier relationships to ensure value for money and compliance
- Supporting and developing colleagues, building strong project discipline, capability and collaboration across the team
- Representing our work confidently in presentations, reviews, events and partner forums
This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with colleagues across Partnerships & Communities, Group Projects, Operations, Support Services and external organisations.
Our ideal candidate:
You’ll be a confident and values‑driven project professional who combines strong delivery discipline with empathy, creativity and influence.
- Proven experience leading complex projects end‑to‑end in multi‑stakeholder environments
- A strong understanding of project governance, assurance, risk management and portfolio delivery
- Experience working with partners, community organisations or suppliers, building trusted, productive relationships
- Confidence managing budgets, financial planning and value‑for‑money decisions within projects
- Excellent communication skills – able to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages for varied audiences
- Experience using project management tools and digital reporting platforms (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Visio or similar)
- A recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent) or equivalent experience
- A genuine commitment to inclusion, co‑production and social impact, with an understanding of safeguarding and ethical delivery

- Researching potential prospects across the corporate and higher education sectors, including analysis of corporate ESG strategies and university access and participation plans

About the Role
ITE Tutors lead the development of trainee teachers to competence and expertise by the end of their initial training year. They will make sure that trainees effectively develop their practice culminating in recommendation of QTS and also academically with the award of a PGCE.
Tutors will design and deliver the curriculum and monitor its application and implementation in schools by trainees, supported by their mentors. They will foster professional relationships with schools and mentors to ensure trainee success and the success of the pupils they serve. Tutors review progress of cohorts and this information is utilised to enhance success of the cohort and to feed into continuous improvement at a programme level, and in the partnership with placement schools. Tutors will contribute to promoting the NIoT ITE programme and will also be involved in recruitment of trainees.

Develop and maintain frameworks to measure the outcomes of all services and programmes.

About You
Must-Have
Proven experience in research and impact evaluation, ideally in the charity or public sector
Strong skills in data collection, survey design, and analysis

Working closely with the Director of Fundraising and alongside the Strategic Partnerships and Trusts teams, you will be responsible for setting clear plans, developing effective fundraising approaches, and ensuring strong systems, processes and supporter experiences are in place to drive sustainable income growth.
You will lead the delivery and development of community fundraising, challenge events, individual giving through community activity, and in-memory fundraising. A key part of the role will be developing a clear and engaging events and fundraising volunteer offer, including an effective induction process that enables volunteers to fundraise confidently on behalf of Bipolar UK.
This role requires a thoughtful, organised and people-centred manager who understands how to balance ambition with compassion in a mental health charity context.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic leadership and planning
- Develop and deliver a clear community and events fundraising strategy aligned with Bipolar UK’s wider fundraising and organisational goals.
- Translate strategy into achievable annual plans, income targets and team objectives.
- Use insight, data and evaluation to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Work with the Director of Fundraising to forecast income, manage risk and maximise return on investment.
2. Community and events fundraising delivery
- Lead the planning, delivery and growth of a portfolio of community fundraising initiatives and challenge events, both in person and online.
- Ensure a consistently high-quality supporter experience across all community and events activity.
- Oversee web content and digital resources to support community and event fundraising
- Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities that align with Bipolar UK’s mission, values and supporter base.
- Act as an ambassador for Bipolar UK at key events when required.
3. Volunteer fundraising offer
- Develop a clear, accessible and motivating events and community fundraising volunteer offer.
- Design and implement an effective volunteer induction process, ensuring fundraisers feel confident, supported and well-equipped.
- Work with colleagues to ensure volunteer fundraising activity is aligned with safeguarding, wellbeing and organisational policies.
4. Digital campaigns and income growth
- Lead on the planning and delivery of digital-led community and events fundraising campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop supporter journeys, content and communications that drive engagement and income.
- Develop approaches to grow connected income streams, including regular giving and in-memory giving, through community and digital activity.
- Monitor performance, assess impact and report clearly on outcomes and learning.
5. Supporter experience and stewardship
- Ensure supporters are stewarded with care, empathy and professionalism, recognising the personal connection many have to bipolar.
- Oversee thanking, updating and re-engagement activity to build long-term supporter relationships.
- Ensure accurate and compliant use of the CRM and fundraising data.
6. Team leadership and organisational contribution
- Line-manage and support the Fundraising Officer and Supporter Engagement Assistant, providing clear direction, coaching and development.

Other information
The role will involve extensive travel within Britain as part of building your profile and that of the organisation with central and devolved government in Scotland and Wales, and increasingly with the devolved regions of England.
There is flexibility on location given the requirement to travel and that your office will be home-based. You will need to travel to in-person quarterly team meetings (usually in London or West Yorkshire) and to Board meetings which alternate between online and London. It is expected that travel will be by public transport and easy access to the rail network is therefore required to ensure journeys can be made sustainably.
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. We use a flexi-time system with core hours 10am-3pm, and are committed to being a flexible, supportive and understanding employer. This is a permanent position with a probationary period of six months.

· Maintain and improve operational policies, procedures and controls in line with charity regulation, GDPR/data protection and recognised good practice
· Ensure effective delivery of core operational functions (administration, supporter care, governance support, data management and supplier coordination)
· Protect the Trust’s reputation by maintaining high standards of quality, confidentiality, safeguarding and risk management
· Monitor progress against the operational plan, tracking risks, issues and dependencies and reporting regularly to the Chair/Trustees

Finance
· Manage day-to-day financial processes for the Trust, ensuring appropriate approvals, controls and timely processing
· Oversee expense claims and supplier payments in line with policy; ensure accurate records are maintained for audit and reporting
· Track and report on income/expenditure and operational costs, highlighting variances and supporting budget planning with Trustees and finance support (where in place)
· Maintain a clear audit trail for key financial decisions, contracts and delegated approvals
Planning and Organising
· Develop and implement operational plans that translate Trustee priorities into clear workstreams, milestones and accountabilities
· Plan, organise and prioritise team workload and resources to deliver objectives, balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term planning
· Maintain and review the organisational risk register, escalating issues and ensuring proportionate mitigations are in place
· Maintain and review the Trust’s policies and guidance documents
· Monitor and report delivery, performance and compliance (e.g., quarterly/annually as agreed), supporting effective governance and continuous improvement
Decision Making
· Make operational decisions to deliver the Trust’s agreed plans within delegated authority, escalating strategic or high-risk matters to the Chair/Trustees
· Lead and line-manage the operational team, including recruitment planning (where applicable), workload allocation and resource deployment
· Liaise with external partners, supporters, volunteers, suppliers and professional advisers to support delivery and maintain effective relationships
· Liaise with the Chair of Trustees and the Trustees on a regular basis.
· Evaluate and improve processes, systems and ways of working to enhance quality, efficiency, supporter experience and internal control
· Identify learning and development needs for the team and support continuous improvement and professional development
· Manage operational capacity and prioritisation, ensuring resources are aligned to the Trust’s delivery commitments
· Approve expenditure, contracts and commitments within delegated authority and in line with policy

· Chair of Trustees and Board of Trustees (including sub-committees), providing timely updates, papers and delivery reporting
· Operational team and volunteers, providing leadership, coordination and support

Supporters, donors, partner organisations, volunteers, suppliers and professional advisers (e.g., finance, HR, legal), acting as an operational point of contact as required
Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Style Required
Essential
· Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), with strong digital/IT capability (MS Office and CRM/databases) and a clear understanding of GDPR/data protection.
· Proven experience in an operational leadership/management role, delivering organisational plans, improving processes and achieving measurable outcomes.
· Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with Trustees, colleagues, volunteers and external stakeholders.
· Strong people management skills, supporting staff through change, setting clear expectations and creating an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
· Demonstrable experience working in or with a charity/not-for-profit, with a good understanding of governance, compliance and supporter-facing operations (experience in human health, animal health or science an advantage).
· Strong judgement and analytical skills, able to manage competing priorities, budgets and risks and to deliver reliably in a small-organisation environment.
Desirable
· Understanding of the UK charity regulatory environment and good governance practice.
· Experience working with Boards/Trustees, including preparing papers, reporting on delivery and supporting effective decision-making.
· Knowledge and experience of fundraising operations and supporter care.

Job Context and Special Features
This role is a key senior management position within Humanimal Trust, with responsibility for ensuring that strategy is translated into effective delivery, that the operational team is supported to perform at its best, and that the Trust operates with strong governance, compliance and financial control.
