Frazzled is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, based on the power of emotional openness. Our free, volunteer-led meetings run online every single day of the year, alongside face-to-face groups, offering people a chance to share, listen and feel heard in a supportive community.
We're looking for a confident, positive self-starter with a high level of emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills and experience supporting volunteers to be our new Programmes Manager.
Working closely with the CEO, you will lead day-to-day delivery of our existing programme, support our facilitators and help them develop their practice, addressing concerns thoughtfully and promptly.
You will line-manage the Programme Support and Admin Officer, who handles scheduling and practical administration. You will lead on facilitator wellbeing, training and performance, and work with the Head of Fundraising on programme proposals and reporting.
Working pattern
Our meetings run seven days a week. We welcome flexible arrangements, including school hours. Some evening and occasional weekend work is required for observations and facilitator support, alongside travel to face-to-face meetings. All activity forms part of contracted hours, with cover agreed with the CEO.
Key responsibilities

- Oversee safe, consistent online and face-to-face delivery in line with the Frazzled model.
- Resolve cover gaps and operational concerns, escalating significant risks or resource decisions to the CEO.
- Ensure clear delivery and support arrangements for Ruby Wax public meetings and agreed special sessions.
Volunteer support and development
- Build supportive relationships with facilitators, offering encouragement and help with challenging situations while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
- Lead volunteer recruitment when required, oversee induction and training, and lead monthly volunteer meetings and shared learning.
- Carry out observations, give constructive feedback and coaching, and follow up development actions. Explore peer observations and provide refresher sessions.
- Address complaints and performance concerns fairly, and respond to safeguarding and wellbeing issues through Frazzled's procedures.
People management
- Set priorities and provide support and feedback to the Admin Officer, helping them develop independence and maintain clear handovers.
- Coordinate their fundraising support and supervise agreed observation work.
Programme development and reporting
- Work with the Head of Fundraising on proposals, providing realistic delivery plans, costs and capacity needs.
- Review attendance and feedback, lead survey design and evaluation, and provide checked evidence for applications, funder reports, trustee papers and the Annual Report.
- Maintain partner relationships and programme guidance, improve processes and support agreed projects.
