Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and highly organised National Conference Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of our major national conference bringing together professionals, families and organisations from across the children's palliative care sector.

Together for Short Lives is the leading UK-wide charity for children living with serious illness, their families and the services that provide them with palliative care.

Every child deserves many moments of happiness together with their loved ones. But it's hard for them to thrive when services don't fully meet their needs, leaving parents and siblings feeling isolated and alone.

That’s why we’re here. To make sure that every family can thrive as they navigate their child's life, death, bereavement and beyond.

Together we support families to live their lives, through the ups and downs, offering practical, emotional and financial help.

Together we unite our sector by prioritising and sharing crucial research, leading guidance and standards, connecting professionals and raising vital funds for children’s hospice and palliative care services.

Together we campaign to make sure that children with serious illness and their families get the care and support they need, when and where they need it.

Supporting, uniting, campaigning, together.
We are Together for Short Lives.

About the role

Working across multiple teams, you will manage all aspects of the event from programme development, speaker and delegate management, and ticketing systems through to sponsorship support, on-site delivery and post-event evaluation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a flagship event that will strengthen learning, collaboration and influence across the sector.

Incremental hours increase over 9 month fixed term are planned as:

3 days/week (months 1-3) → 4 days/week (months 4-6) → 5 days/week (months 7-9)

About you

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience delivering conferences or large-scale events from planning through to evaluation.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budget, timeline and risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships.
  • Confidence using event, registration and digital management systems.
  • A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
