Wood Street Mission is a children’s charity helping children and families impacted by poverty in Manchester and Salford. 

We provide practical help to help meet children’s day-to-day needs and improve their life chances. We give clothes, bedding and baby equipment to struggling families, along with toys and books which are important for children’s wellbeing and development.

We support engagement in education by helping families with the costs of school uniform and run Book Roadshow events in schools to promote reading and improve children’s literacy. We work to raise awareness about child poverty and help thousands of children and their families every year.

We are looking to recruit a Grants and Trusts Fundraiser to join our growing team, as we take Wood Street Mission to the next level. You will be responsible for managing and delivering our Grants and Trusts income stream, developing long-term relationships with funders, and building on our small but successful track record. The Grants and Trusts Fundraiser is a pivotal role in helping us to accelerate our growth even further so we can help more children to thrive free from poverty.

The role is flexible between the office in Manchester and working from home.

Purpose of post

As the Grants and Trusts Fundraiser, you will be responsible for securing grants of varying sizes, translating the charity’s work across our five projects into compelling, high-quality applications for a range of audiences. Working collaboratively with the wider charity team, you will have a hands-on role in understanding our projects to ensure you can authentically convey our mission and our impact to funders. 

You will provide excellent care to existing and new supporters, ensuring reporting requirements are met and that funders are kept informed of how their support has enabled the charity to continue its work.

A key responsibility will be to contribute to and develop the Grants and Trusts fundraising plan. You will work to identify, secure and develop a robust pipeline of grant funders to maximise income and enable continued growth and sustainability of Wood Street Mission’s work. 

Main duties and responsibilities

1. To contribute to and develop the Grants and Trusts fundraising plan as agreed with the Fundraising Lead, to support the charity’s strategy

2. Meet agreed key performance indicators and to monitor and report on these targets

3. To keep up to date with funding policies and grant giving organisation news to inform the fundraising plan

4. To work closely with the Fundraising Lead and other members of the team to ensure a coordinated approach and excellent level of care for supporters, through appropriate and engaging communication methods

5. To research and develop new funders to support the achievement of fundraising targets

6. Frequently report on progress of Grants and Trusts fundraising to the Fundraising Lead

7. Work with the wider charity team to build a bank of individual stories and information for each of the five projects, to develop a Case for Support which can be adapted to different audiences

8. To work with the Fundraising Lead and the charity team to carry out a Full Cost Recovery exercise across all five projects, to provide a clear overview of the charity’s income and expenditure budget

9. Write comprehensive and persuasive applications to funders and prepare tailored presentations for a range of supporters

10. Build, nurture and account manage relationships with grant giving organisations, providing impact assessments, case studies and progress reports as required

11. Implement an effective stewardship process to maximise income and encourage long-term support, so funders feel appreciated and understand how their support has made an impact

12. Ensure grants are acknowledged promptly and reporting requirements are met within agreed timescales

13. To work alongside colleagues within the charity to identify potential grant funding opportunities and potential cross team working opportunities to ensure the charity maximises income across all income streams

14. Maintain up-to-date and accurate funder and volunteer records on the Beacon database, and to input data, donations and consent preferences, ensuring all data processing is GDPR compliant

15. To provide general administrative support to the Fundraising team

16. To represent Wood Street Mission as required at special events, and to proactively seek out new funding prospects and networking opportunities

17. To act as an ambassador for Wood Street Mission and promote the charity

18. To champion the Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practice, upholding a high standard of fundraising that is legal, open, honest and respectful

Personal Specification

Experience:

· Experience working in a fundraising or customer care environment

Your role 

This role sits in the Philanthropy & Partnerships Directorate, a high performing team that is responsible for all areas of high value fundraising including major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners and special events/high value committees. We play a vital role in delivering a stewardship and communications programme to support the wider Directorate with the knowledge, tools and expertise to recognise, thank and update our highest value supporters.

We will need you to: 

• Maintain and manage data lists and mailing processes for key communications, including biannual newsletters, season’s greetings cards and the Charity’s Impact Report.
• Support fundraisers to coordinate and deliver correspondence to donors and partners, including sharing news from the hospital or preparing routine updates, ensuring all communications are accurate, timely, and properly recorded.
• Upkeep all donor recognition information, including tracking members of the Charity’s stewardship circles and auditing donor recognition across the hospital.
• Coordinate donor recognition pages for the Charity’s annual Impact Report, working closely with the PR and Communications team.

The Fundraiser - Corporate & Events will play a pivotal role in enabing Deafblind UK to achieve its goals - helping us to reach more supporters, inspire long-term giving, and raise vital funds through corporate partnerships and charity-led fundraising events. You’ll be at the heart of building relationships, creating impact, and driving income that directly transforms the support available for people with dual sensory loss.

Reporting to the Fundraising Development Manager, the Fundraiser - Corporate and Events will be responsible for growing our existing supporter base and driving engagement, loyalty and income through innovative corporate fundraising activities and charity-led fundraising events. You will be responsible for implementing fundraising strategies, coordinating campaigns, and developing strong connections with businesses in order to generate income and meet targets.

The role includes helping to market and promote Deafblind UK events, with a focus on writing compelling copy for online and offline promotion. The postholder will have a flair for creativity and innovation, with outstanding supporter relationship management skills; to help enhance income generation through mass participation events. Our aim is to ensure all fundraising activities are delivered to the highest standards and are well-planned, exciting, safe, creative and challenging.

This is a highly rewarding position for a creative and dynamic individual to make a genuine difference to the support available for the 450,000 people across the UK who are deafblind.

This position is based remotely with frequent travel as and when required to carry out the duties of the role.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This role works to raise awareness of the issues faced by people around the world who have lost their homes to disaster. It creates positive media coverage for ShelterBox, profiling us as experts in emergency shelter, as well as supporting fundraising with media engagement and PR activities. The role also works to ensure colleagues across the organisation can talk about our work accurately and consistently by producing key messaging about our international programmes.  

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

ShelterBox is seeking a motivated and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.  

We are looking for someone who enjoys writing a variety of materials like press releases, statements, and Q&As. You will also enjoy finding stories and ensuring they are told ethically. You will enjoy creating news, working with the media and being involved in multiple projects.  

This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic fundraising and communications department working together to achieve our mission of no one without shelter after disaster. 

The role requires someone who is able to pivot priorities quickly when needed. When major disasters happen, our teams need to be able to flex very quickly to that focus. 

MAIN ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This role works as part of a small and dynamic Communications & Digital team. You will be focused on gaining media coverage for our international programmes that support people after disaster. You will understand the issues and opportunities of our work and secure media interviews. You will also support our fundraising campaigns and events with media engagement. 

You will work closely with the Head of Global Communications & Digital and colleagues across the Fundraising & Communications department to develop and deliver communications and media engagement activities supporting campaigns and driving awareness.   

This role also supports wider departments by producing centralised messaging to ensure colleagues talk about our work consistently and are aligned with our brand.  

The role line manages a Communications & PR Officer. It also works with the wider communications and fundraising teams on integrated campaigns, ensuring key messaging is aligned and PR angles and issues are considered. 

There may be occasional opportunity to travel when appropriate to countries where ShelterBox works for media opportunities. This travel is not mandatory. There will be regular travel to Truro head office to support media interviews, deliver training, and organisation collaboration days. Flexibility with working hours sometimes required especially during sudden-onset emergencies (TOIL available for additional hours.) 

PR & Comms Lead 

• Manage a variety of communications and PR activities to raise awareness of the needs of people who have lost their homes to disaster. 

• Produce a range of high-quality written materials for different audiences. 

• Develop strong working relationships with people across the organisation, including in our fundraising teams, and international programmes. 

• As a PR and communications subject matter expert, take a proactive approach to media engagement and communications. 
• Act as a Strategic EDI Liaison (see EDI role profile), embedding and leading EDI principles within your role by integrating the EDI strategy and action plan into departmental activities, ensuring inclusive approaches are applied, actions are delivered, and progress is monitored. In addition, work collaboratively with the wider Strategic EDI Liaison team to share good practice, coordinate cross-departmental initiatives, and support a consistent, organisation-wide approach to progressing EDI priorities.

Media Engagement 

• Maximise media opportunities for ShelterBox across national and regional, print, digital, and broadcast media. 

• Have a good understanding of the media landscape and actively keep across relevant stories and trends. 

• Work with colleagues across the organisation to find stories and create news. 

• Prepare and use a variety of high-quality, effective PR tools including press releases, quotes and comments, features, blogs and photo opportunities. 

• Sell-in stories, respond to media enquiries, and secure media interviews. 

• Deliver interview training for colleagues. 

• Prepare messaging and briefings for spokespeople for interviews and events.

The Katie Piper Foundation is a small, national charity founded in 2009 by Katie Piper, a burns survivor. We exist to provide rehabilitation to survivors of life-altering burns and traumatic scarring.

This is a new and varied role where you will be responsible for the development of our supporter-led fundraising and challenge events portfolio, be involved in event management and administration and provide exceptional stewardship to maximise fundraising from supporters and donors. This role is responsible for working collaboratively with the Head of Fundraising to develop and deliver our annual portfolio of events (including RDA UK organised events, securing places in third party events and supporting in aid of events), introducing new local fundraising opportunities, and building relationships within community groups. 

• To work collaboratively with the Head of Fundraising to deliver RDA UK’s community and events fundraising programme, ensuring income targets are achieved or exceeded.
• To explore, develop, and manage an RDA UK flagship event.
• To oversee and develop our challenge events programme, including open and bespoke overseas challenges.

As the Community Fundraiser covering East Anglia you will play a crucial role in helping the charity meet its strategic plans and objectives, which include campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.  Your role will be to generate and grow our income through community fundraising activities, contributing to a regional team target of more than £1.5 million.​

Insight Gloucestershire are seeking a Relationship Fundraiser.  This is an exciting and varied role incorporating writing funding applications, developing corporate partnerships, organising fundraising events and supporting volunteer fundraisers.

The role is based in Gloucestershire, and you will be travelling around the county to meet supporters and attend fundraising events.  You will need to regularly attend our office in Cheltenham.  There will also be occasional travel to our partner offices in Bristol and Devizes (Wiltshire). 

As Relationship Fundraiser, you will be playing a key role in ensuring the financial success and stability of our charity.  There is a wide salary band depending upon experience.  You might be coming to this role as an established fundraiser, looking to develop your career, or perhaps you have transferable skills having built great relationships in another sector.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow a new challenge events programme, as well as plan and execute key flagship events for Cherry Trees. You’ll work closely with the Community and Partnerships team and the Head of Fundraising and Communications to increase participation in these areas and maximise the profitability of our bespoke events.

A Daylight Fundraiser will answer to and work alongside the CEO to convey the Daylight Vision and build relationship with key Christian figures. With guidance and information from other members of the team, the Daylight Fundraiser’s primary responsibility will be to research trust and grant funding opportunities, tailor applications to donors and nurture relationships in a way designed to inspire funding partners to take the gospel with us into UK prisons.

Daylight is a national charity currently predominantly funded by Churches and individual Christians, with a small but significant income stream from trusts and foundations.  Having recently re-visioned for a post COVID / intranet-in-prison age we recently celebrated our 20th Anniversary and are positioning for growth.
