As our Events & Communications Assistant, you’ll be right at the centre of everything we do - helping deliver engaging events, creating content that connects with people, and bringing our work to life.
You’ll work closely with our Fundraising & Communications team to plan and deliver events, promote them across digital channels, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From coordinating logistics to posting on social media and supporting supporter communications, you’ll play a key role in making things happen.
This is a hands-on role that includes the practical delivery of events. You’ll be involved in setting up and packing down, transporting equipment, and supporting on-site logistics. This can include lifting and moving equipment, putting up gazebos and stands, and driving the event van.

Duties and key responsibilities
Challenge Event Support
- Provide day-to-day support to the Senior Challenge Events Officer across Sarcoma UK’s challenge events portfolio.
- Act as a point of contact for fundraisers participating in challenge events, responding to enquiries and signposting them to the right support.
- Support the delivery of the London Marathon, including stewardship and the setup of the Running Show and after party.
- Help administer the challenge events process, including registrations, deadlines, record-keeping and post-event evaluations.
- Assist with the organisation of event-day experiences, such as cheer stations and receptions, to support participants and celebrate their achievements.
- Help compile reports and evaluations for events within the challenge event portfolio.
- Support research into new challenge events to help grow the charity’s portfolio.
Communications
- Support the creation of challenge event content for online and offline channels, including the website, working with the Senior Challenge Events Officer and the Communications team.
- Help compile impact messages for fundraisers.
- Help gather fundraising stories, case studies and achievements to share with the Communications team.
Supporter Care
- Provide friendly, gold-standard support to challenge event fundraisers, helping them access the resources they need to maximise their fundraising and stay involved long term.
- Help deliver personalised stewardship journeys to support participants in meeting or exceeding their fundraising targets.
- Respond promptly to fundraising enquiries by post, email and telephone.
- Help ensure fundraisers receive timely recognition, including letters, certificates and impact updates as appropriate.
- Send fundraising materials and packs to supporters.
Administration and Compliance
- Maintain accurate supporter records using Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Help ensure Gift Aid is captured at every opportunity.
- Help monitor and manage event fundraising stock.
- Work in line with fundraising legislation, including GDPR, risk management, health and safety regulations, and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Conduct.
Other
- Provide event support, which may involve occasional weekend or evening work.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of Sarcoma UK by undertaking other duties as required.

Main purpose of post
This is a new role for the marketing team at Weston Park Cancer Charity. The Communications and PR Manager will play a critical role in telling our story, championing our mission, and amplifying the voices of patients, families, clinicians and supporters.
To lead and deliver impactful, brand-building communications and PR activity that increases awareness, deepens engagement, and strengthens Weston Park Cancer Charity’s reputation across South Yorkshire and beyond. This role will:
Communications Strategy & Planning

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, you will play a key supporting role within the fundraising team, assisting the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Communications team. With a key aim of delivering agreed activity and growing income from corporate partnerships.
This role focuses on supporting the identification and recruitment of new regional, national and international corporate supporters, while also playing a lead role in managing and stewarding existing partnerships, with particular responsibility for communications activity and delivery of sponsorship activities and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting New Business Development
- Assist in researching and identifying prospective regional, national and international corporate partners aligned with the organisation’s mission and values
- Support the development of tailored proposals, pitches and presentations for potential corporate supporters
- Help prepare outreach materials, including emails, decks, and briefing documents
- Maintain and update prospect pipelines and CRM records
- Attend meetings and events with prospective partners, taking notes and following up on actions

Managing Existing Corporate Partnerships
- Provide day-to-day support in the management of existing corporate accounts

As our Community & Events Fundraiser, you will play a key role in developing and delivering an engaging programme of fundraising activities. Working closely with the Head of Income Generation & Engagement, you will help grow income, strengthen supporter relationships and ensure events are delivered to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and delivering a community and events fundraising programme to achieve income targets
• Building strong relationships with fundraisers, supporters and community groups to maximise engagement and retention
• Planning and managing a range of events including challenge events, special events and third-party activities

The Head of Fundraising and Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving Bowel Research UK's fundraising strategies and audience engagement initiatives.
This position is responsible for embedding and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing the charity’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.
You will have the autonomy and scope to drive elements of your work and take ownership of your own objectives. You will be required to collaborate on decisions to shape and deliver initiatives, programmes and processes as required for each area of income delivery.
Key to the success of this role is a strong understanding of individual giving fundraising – an area that is underdeveloped at Bowel Research UK. This role blends the strategic oversight and leadership of a Head of Fundraising role, with the hands-on expertise of an IG fundraiser. Experience across other income streams would be a huge benefit as the role leads all fundraising income streams, but experience in individual giving is essential.
The successful candidate for this role will be someone who has already operated at a senior level within a charity such as at Senior Manager level, or Head of in a specific income stream.

We are a local, independent charity based on the Wirral, supporting people living with dementia, their carers, and former carers by providing community-based activities and day trips. About the role
As our Fundraiser, you will help us develop and deliver a practical fundraising plan to support the charity’s continued growth. Person specification
You will bring:
· Experience in fundraising, community engagement, events, grant applications, relationship management, and working towards targets.

· Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to speak engagingly in public and to write clearly and persuasively, and use social media effectively.
· Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several pieces of work simultaneously.
· A practical, hands-on approach suited to a small charity.
· An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, dementia and the needs of people living with dementia, their carers and former carers.
