About the role

We’re looking for a Programme Lead to drive forward a bold, nationally significant initiative designed to support educators in responding to one of the most complex and urgent challenges facing young people today.

This project will help schools engage with issues that affect how students form beliefs, navigate digital spaces, and make sense of the world. You’ll make sure the right things happen at the right time, driving both the strategy and the detail that bring this ambitious programme to life. You’ll coordinate multiple stakeholders, shape and manage delivery timelines, and maintain project fidelity.

You will work alongside the Director of Teacher Development, as well as other colleagues from our ITE, ECF and NPQ Faculties, as well as the Research and Best Practice team. You will also work closely with diverse external stakeholders including schoolteachers and leaders and young people.

Working closely with the Head of World Fellowship and Philanthropy, you will nurture and expand a global donor community, encouraging existing supporters to open their networks, and helping new donors feel part of a mission to empower and invest in young people. Given our work with an international network of supporters, a candidate interested in the international philanthropy space or with direct experience working with global philanthropists would be particularly well suited for this role.

It is envisaged that this role will be an even split between relationship-building and new donor

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment of donors

• Identify, vet, select and approach suitable donors at all levels, working in close collaboration with the Chair of World Fellowship, and other key ‘introducers’ .
• Promote and grow the Foundation’s Legacy fundraising programme, identifying and planning approaches to prospective legacy donors and supporting approaches to third party introducers.
• Develop and recruit lapsed donors to the World Fellowship.
• Write and submit proposals to donors to secure gifts.

Donor relationships

• Develop and deliver the Foundation’s ‘Fellowship’ programme; meeting the needs of different levels of engagement and promoting progression through different donor levels.
• Develop and maintain a robust framework for management of donor relationships
• Conduct and review due diligence of prospective and existing supporters.
• Undertake any other duties as required to support the successful delivery of Fundraising and Foundation objectives.

Project Management
Lead and prepare publications and relevant communications for all donors and supporters.
Be the Philanthropy team lead for specific events, overseeing the donor journey and financial
targets associated with the event.

Main duties and responsibilities

Leading PBE’s public events strategy and delivery

• Work with our Head of Communications and senior team to design and implement an events strategy as part of the communications and fundraising strategies.
• Event strategy and programme planning: drawing on expertise of PBE colleagues, trustees and relevant stakeholders to plan, market and deliver an engaging and innovative programme of online and in person events to budget and deadlines.
• Event design, delivery and follow-up: planning and managing operational delivery.
• Responsibility for logistics of events including guestlist development, speaker invitations and stewardship, ticketing, internal briefings, contractors, venue liaison, event marketing and follow up.
• Active communications with speakers and attendees before and after events to maximise impact.
• Stakeholder engagement with events: Researching and drawing on advice from colleagues on interesting, engaging and diverse speakers relevant to PBE’s strategy, and drawing on PBE’s research and analysis projects as well as the wider media landscape to actively identify opportunities and agendas for future events.
• Supporting the organisation of joint events with charities and social sector organisations, working as part of a small and dynamic communications team to maximise the impact and visibility of PBE’s projects and publications externally, and the organisation of private research roundtables.

Supporting development and income generation

• Work with the Director of Development to ensure our events programme supports PBE’s fundraising approach by engaging funders, helping to identify new business opportunities, and contributing to funding applications. 
• Working with the Development team to manage the design and delivery of fundraising and stewardship events including small private dinners, roundtables, panel sessions in person and online.
• Collaboration with the Development Director to identify mission-related commercial opportunities from our events, such as sponsorship.

Delivering effective communications

• Collaborate with wider communications team to deliver greater reach and impact for PBE through our multi-channel communications strategy.
• Support communications colleagues to create and deliver compelling digital communications to support our events programme
• Managing data, reporting and insight to improve our events: Maintenance of all records of activity in the CRM Salesforce, and liaison with the Head of Systems and our Operations Team to improve systems and processes.
• Perform additional duties as required to ensure the smooth running of PBE and the communications team.

About you

The role would suit candidates from an events agency or in-house events/communications background, able to work operationally and strategically, working with and advising senior staff internally and externally.

Candidates should be able to point to a strong track-record of creating and delivering events and stakeholder engagement, with sufficient experience to lead and co-ordinate a diverse programme of in person and online events to reach policymakers and the wider social sector.

What will I be doing?

• Project managing and providing advice on research/evaluation of CRUK activities ensuring that the methods, analyses and communication of results are appropriate, high quality and have maximum impact

• Interpreting and communicating research/evaluation results effectively to internal and external stakeholders

• Developing a sound, rounded knowledge of topics relevant to reducing cancer incidence and improving cancer outcomes, as appropriate to their portfolio of responsibilities, through review of evidence, and close collaboration with colleagues within the team, department and the whole of CRUK

• Contributing to the critique and synthesis of research, data and insight through the preparation of evidence briefs and evidence-based content, distilling key points

• Preparing PowerPoint decks, one pagers, reports, and conference presentations/posters to a high standard, working with colleagues and/external researchers as appropriate to communicate insights and influence future work programmes

• Maintaining good working knowledge of behavioural research evidence relevant to specific projects (e.g. barriers to bowel cancer screening participation) through interrogation of the evidence base and via internal and external networks

• Helping to ensure research/evaluation budgets are appropriately managed and distributed within and between projects across Policy, Information and Communications

What skills are you looking for?

• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience working as a researcher or evaluation specialist, ideally in health

• Knowledge of behavioural research evidence, ideally relevant to cancer prevention, early diagnosis and cancer treatment

• Extensive experience carrying out quantitative and qualitative analysis (e.g. statistical significance testing, thematic analysis)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to flex communication style to suit a range of professional and lay audiences

• Project management experience with the ability to prioritise effectively, balancing project level tasks with strategic focus 

• Ability to quickly analyse and draw robust conclusions from scientific papers and reports

• Demonstrated experience in survey design and analysis

• Drive and determination to deliver high quality research and evaluation

The Role 

Fundraising and Impact Coordinator

o Assist in the planning and execution of a diverse range of fundraising applications, events and community initiatives

o Support the management of event logistics, including participant communication, volunteer coordination, and on-the-day activities

o Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to ensure smooth event operations and build strong relationships for future collaboration

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Alumni Engagement team who provide support to an alumni base of almost 40,000 contactable alumni of the Sutton Trust programmes. These are generally young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds who move into highly competitive universities, courses and careers. The alumni community has grown rapidly over the past 3 years and now expects around 6-7000 new alumni to join each September. Engagement covers supporting their transition to university and into the workplace through communications, events and programmes. It also spans alumni volunteering, our Alumni Leadership Board, and working with our Development team towards alumni giving.

The role is dynamic and diverse, requiring you to be able to think strategically whilst devising and delivering on operational delivery plans, and we are looking for a confident and experienced team leader during a period of maternity leave.

This role is part of the Programmes Leadership Team and will work closely with the Director of Programmes, Head of Employability Programmes and Head of University Access & Digital on shaping the strategic direction of the team and its programmatic work. The role will also connect closely to the work of the Development Team as we look to devise and implement a segmented alumni giving scheme, as well as the Communications and Policy team, and may evolve to take on new projects over time.

Main duties

• Strategic leadership to alumni engagement, including:
  • Embedding alumni relations and programming across the organisation, ensuring alumni are considered or involved in all areas of the Trust’s work
  • Managing budget and project timelines to ensure projects are delivered effectively
  • Working with the wider programmes team to ensure a smooth transition for Sutton Trust beneficiaries between programmes and the alumni community

• Alumni Engagement and Volunteering:

Person Specification

Donor relationship management and stewardship

We are rapidly expanding our service provision over the coming months, and are seeking a full or part-time Project Administrator to join our passionate and energetic team. Location: Hybrid. Staff work remotely and from the Medact office in East London. London-based staff work in-person as a team one day per week, and staff based outside London come in at least once a month, with support for travel costs. Applications from outside London are encouraged.

About the role 

The Campaign & Programme Lead: Climate & Health supports health workers to campaign for just and proportionate action on climate change, working closely with our Movement Organiser and other colleagues. Currently our work focuses on the intersection of climate and housing, working to end the public health crisis of fuel poverty and poor-quality homes. In particular this role is responsible for national advocacy and campaigning on fuel poverty and housing, supporting members to organise in their local communities, and being a key part in the Homes for Health campaign team.

The role involves holding Medact’s key knowledge base on climate and health issues. You will build relationships across the health community and wider climate movement, from establishment institutions to frontline workers and grassroots groups. 

About you

This is a skilled role but you don’t need to have had a job in an NGO before or be a professional campaigner to be right for it. You might have worked with your local community to campaign on a social justice or health issue that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of these issues on your patients and wants to challenge the systems that drive inequity and marginalisation. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, academics, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment campaigning and an eye for a good media story.
