Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

As a Regional Coordinator, you will build relationships and take ownership for what happens in your geographical area. Whether it be providing peer support to newly injured people in a clinical setting, facilitating wheelchair skills sessions, making referrals for ongoing support or supporting volunteers and fundraisers – you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives.

Role purpose

This role would suit someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a charity finance role, who has experience or knowledge of all the core accounts department processes and some understanding of different charity income streams. You might be studying for an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or ACCA) or be qualified by experience.

A training package may be available for an applicable accounting qualification.

Responsibilities

• Day to day management and systems administration of Xero accounting software, expenses software (ExpenseIn), and other linked financial applications.
• Carry out monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors and creditors, and set up payment runs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts journals (prepayments, accruals, depreciation, deferred and accrued income) and control account reconciliations.
• Being the systems administrator for the Fundraising CRM system (Donorfy) and linked platforms and applications (e.g. JustGiving, Stripe, EventBright).
• Database management of Donorfy and linked platforms and applications.
• Reconcile data between Donorfy and Xero, and where necessary, with other linked platforms and applications.
• Ensure Gift Aid returns are correctly submitted to HMRC (via Donorfy)
• Support with the development and implementation of new systems and procedures.
• Provide training and induction to new joiners in using Donorfy and ExpenseIn as well as for any other relevant platforms and applications.
• Business partnering - provide day to day support to the wider organisation with finance and fundraising system queries, payment information, and supplier queries.
• Working with budget holders to provide transaction reports, income and expenditure reports, and updates on payments from finance and fundraising systems to assist them to manage their project budgets.
• Assist Finance Director and Fundraising team where necessary with financial reporting to funders.

Skills/ experience

Essential

• Proven experience in all areas of accounts - purchase and sales ledger, banking and cash management, basic management accounts.
• Experience of Xero or similar cloud-based finance system.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly excel and an ability to quickly learn new systems.

Desirable

• Accountancy qualification or studying for (e.g. AAT, ACCA).
• Experience of Donorfy or similar CRM system.
• Experience of dealing with charitable income and an understanding of how to account for restricted grants.
• Experience of liaising with auditors and other external stakeholders.

Your Job Description 

As a Youth Project Leader, you will: 

• Deliver ReachOut sessions at the same partner school on the same day and time weekly during term time.

• Prepare your ReachOut sessions, following ReachOut’s curriculum and adapting the activities to the needs and interests of your assigned group.

• Facilitate engaging ReachOut sessions for the young people attending by ensuring that the voice of young people is listened to and impacts the way the sessions are planned and facilitated.

• Manage and support a group of volunteer mentors; supporting them to build strong rapport with their mentees and helping them to understand how to best adapt their mentoring approach to the young people they are working with.

• Support theyoung people in your session to reach and be confident in their potential by facilitating the creation of good mentee/mentor relationships and by running activities to build the ReachOut Character Strengths.

• Complete monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the sessions are as impactful as possible and set up strategies with the help of your line manager to help each young person in your group reach their mentoring goal.

• Keep in touch with the parents/carers of the young people in your group about attendance, successes and challenges.

• Manage your project’s weekly admin by planning your sessions, maintaining your attendance and providing detailed project updates to your line manager.

• Attend ReachOut events and socials with their mentors. • Follow ReachOut’s policies/procedures to safeguard young people.

• Act and communicate in a professional manner, in line with ReachOut character strengths and culture.

About the role

Medact’s Movement Organiser will work alongside our Campaign Leads and Head of Movement Building to grow our movement, developing groups of healthcare workers into confident campaigners who can make a visible difference in the struggle for health justice and peace. The successful candidate will spend approximately 80% of their time with one of our campaigners, and 20% participating in cross-organisational work. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, or experience of organising or campaigning around, issues related to economic justice or the climate crisis. 

About you

This is a skilled role, but you don’t need to have worked for an NGO or be a professional organiser to be right for it. You might have organised in your workplace or local community to take action on issues that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of injustices such as a poor environment, immigration or counter-terror policies,  low income or precarious housing on your patients, and wants to challenge decision-makers and hold them to account. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment organising and campaigning. Upskilling and empowering our movement is a fundamental part of this role, so you’ll need the ability to deliver training and workshops through an anti-oppressive lens.

As a Health Advocate, you will organise our women’s group sessions, a space for women to connect and learn more about their health. You will encourage women to join the sessions and develop an engaging group of health professionals to lead, educate and share knowledge within the groups. You will also be providing information, practical support and advocacy to the women on a one-to-one basis, ensuring they are accessing other organisations and services.

You will bring to this role expereince of delivering community health support to communities of minority women living with multiple disadvantages. Experience of engaging and developing relationships with local partners to enhance support provided to women; and managing several priorities at once and adapting to quickly changing circumstances of our beneficiaries. You will be someone who is highly motivated, personable, and committed to making a positive impact in the community.

You will be joining a team of diverse women who are dedicated and passionate about making a difference to the lives of women living in East London. Sister Circle is a charity putting women's health first. Our team of staff and trained local volunteers support women who are pregnant, have experienced pregnancy loss and trauma, or female genital cutting. We provide holistic support for women living with challenging circumstances and who are at the highest risk of experiencing poor health care during pregnancy and accessing sexual and reproductive health services.

Relationships of trust are central to our work and we take a non-judgemental approach. Our work is trauma and culturally informed.

You will share the values of Sister Circle and be committed to addressing the inequalities experienced by women from black, asian and ethnic minority backgrounds.

Job Description

Post Title: Social Switch Training Coordinator

Location: The post will be based primarily at Redthread’s head office in Brixton with some days at Catch 22’s central office and working from home . However, all Redthread team members must have a flexible approach to working on other sites across London when needed. There will be the need for regular visits to Catch 22’s main offices and activities that take place at various locations across London, and the UK.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The nature of Redthread’s Social Switch work means that occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Salary: £31.500 per annum + benefits

Contract type: 18-month fixed term, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

DBS Check Required: Enhanced with Barring (Child & Adult Workforce)

Purpose of the Post

As a Training Co Ordinator you will be the main lead on delivery of accredited training to frontline practitioners, professionals, and community partners.

To improve professionals’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the online space for young people, so that they can better support young people to have a safer online journey.

Be the main contact with professional services/ community groups to review existing training and development of bespoke modules for different audiences, prioritising safeguarding and contributing to a shared aim of improving online safety for young people.

Main aims of the role:

• Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, HWR Board, Staff and Volunteers to develop print and digital communications and printed materials to support the work of Healthwatch and its outreach and engagement activities.

• Develop relationships with sector, national and local media

• Ensure a consistent brand and identity is maintained and support colleagues to ensure quality communications across all products and initiatives.

• Manage the HWR digital and print communications channels, such as enewsletters, social media and print newsletters. • Ensure and maintain the online/ Web presence of Healthwatch including Twitter and LinkedIn

• Secure local, regional and national press coverage of HWR work in a variety of publications.

• Support and sustain information, advice, and signposting services to ensure individuals are directed to appropriate health and social care services.

• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion by ensuring that communications are accessible to all segments of society.

• Publicise volunteer opportunities and their role in improving the delivery of health and social care services.

• Ensure compliance with Healthwatch England brand guidelines and protocols.

• Co-ordinate the design and production of press releases, information and promotional materials required by the team.

• Assist the CEO and the team with the production of reports as required.

• Review and monitor materials produced by other organisations and feedback areas of potential interest to the team.

• Provide general admin cover for the Healthwatch Redbridge office – answering telephones, dealing with general enquiries and visitors to the office.

Main activities of the role:

• Collate copy, edit content, design, and launch print reports on the work of Healthwatch.

• Collaborate with staff across Healthwatch to develop outstanding digital and print content for all HWR channels.

• Collate, develop, and manage content for the HWR website and ensure the website is kept up to date.

• Collate, develop, and manage content for Healthwatch email marketing.

• Manage the HWR social media presence with engaging content.

• Support the delivery of Healthwatch events and engagement programme.

• Monitor effectiveness and impact of all communications activities, making recommendations for change.
