We're looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who's good with people and good at organising them - someone who can recruit, train and keep in touch with the volunteers who make FFLAG's support possible.

About FFLAG

FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity and is the UK's longest established parent support charity in the LGBT+ sector. Our history began in the grassroots parent helplines of the 1960s, grew through the 1980's and 90's as we supported anxious parents and fought against the discrimination of Section 28, becoming a formally registered charity in 2000.

Our work sounds simple, but it is life changing. We help parents and families understand, accept and support their lesbian, gay, bisexual, non-binary and transgender family members with love and pride.

We offer a range of support options spanning 1-2-1 online and helpline support services to a UK-wide monthly group Zoom meeting and face to face local groups. We also have an extensive collection of online resources and guides. We attend as many Pride events as we can and our work supports thousands of people every year. This support is provided by an active base of FFLAG volunteers who are parents of LGBT+ children themselves, supported by other volunteers and allies.

What this job is all about

As Volunteer Coordinator, you'll make sure FFLAG's volunteers are properly recruited, trained and supported, so they can continue doing this work well. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

• Identify what volunteers FFLAG needs, then recruit, induct and train them, including DBS checks and references

• Maintain training, the volunteer handbook and the Code of Conduct up to date

• Maintain regular contact with volunteers, so they stay engaged, safe and supported

• Act as FFLAG's Safeguarding Lead, providing regular supervision to support volunteers

• Keep accurate records, liaise with Trustees, and report on volunteer activity to the Board

• Be a member of the Services and Support Committee

• Provide support to the Operations Manager with events, as required

What are the skills and attributes you will need?

This role needs someone who's organised, approachable, and motivated by helping people do well - but it also needs real, hands-on experience of volunteer coordination from day one, since it's a small, part-time role with no one else to lean on for this work. We're specifically looking for candidates who can point to evidence of previous experience in:

• Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers in a paid or voluntary role

• Keeping volunteers engaged and retained over time

• Handling safeguarding matters sensitively and appropriately

• Working independently and comfortably in a remote-working setup

• A genuine interest in equality, diversity, and the LGBT+ community

Please note: this role isn't suitable as a first step into volunteer management - we're looking for candidates who already have relevant, demonstrable experience in this area.

Role Context

Recovery in Community is a successful partnership between Manchester Mind and Gaddum. We support people to manage and live with their mental health in their community.  Staff are employed by both organisations but work together collaboratively and as a team.

As the Recovery in Community Worker (Referral and Assessment) you will be supporting people in who have been referred into Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) services but may not meet the threshold for secondary or specialist mental health services. The aim of this work is to ensure that people referred receive the right support at the right time.

You will work closely with the Referral and Assessment team at Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (GMMH) to take referrals and ensure people get access to the mental health and social support they need.

Role Purpose

You will be building trusting and kind relationships with the understanding that they enable people to be listened to and heard and that this makes a difference. You will be part of a team providing effective person-centred support to people who come through the referral and assessment hub – many of whom often have tried many times to get the help they need.  We want to enable people to feel connected within their communities – to services, friends and family.

You will also be building relationships with NHS and statutory services. The structure of the service is brief intervention (working with people for a short period of time) with a focus on supporting people to connect to community services and resources effectively.

You will be well supported in this role. The service takes a team-based approach, and you will be joining a team of five and you will be supported directly by a Team Coordinator as well as being part of the wider Recovery in Community Service.

We share skills, experience and learning across the teams so that everyone benefits and we can make a meaningful difference.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Take referrals from the GMMH (Greater Manchester Mental Health) Referral and Assessment Hub and build trusting relationships with people so that they receive the support they need to recover and stay well.

· Build relationships with other key professionals to ensure individuals achieve their goals (e.g. GPs, social care, community services etc).

· Support the development of a supportive and productive referral route into and out of the service, managing exit from the service safely.

· Support the development of this new service, responding professionally to changes as we improve and evolve our working practice collaboratively.

· Provide a trauma-informed service to people: listening, offering safety, choice and empowerment to the people you support so they can effectively engage with services and make sustainable links in with their communities.

· Identify and deliver appropriate interventions.

· Identify when people need referrals to secondary services or specialist mental health services and make appropriate referrals.

· Independently travel to visit people in a range of settings across in Manchester and across Greater Manchester, adhering to lone working and risk management procedures.

· To integrate effectively with colleagues at Manchester Mind, taking a “one team approach” to deliver a seamless service, understanding the different roles in the Recovery in Community team and recognising each other's strengths.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and records using agreed case management systems, following standard operating procedures.

· Support people to engage in our service through coproduction, engagement events and feedback forms.

· Contribute to service reporting, monitoring and evaluation as required.

· Identify additional needs that people have and highlight them to Manchester Mind with a view to sharing them with Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust and commissioners.

All staff are expected to work within all Gaddum policies and procedures. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The Membership & Community Coordinator is a new role, created to support the membership functions at Science for Animal Welfare (SciFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA). 

Initially, the role holder will focus on delivering and growing SciFAW’s relaunched membership. They will play a central role in shaping the member experience, ensuring that our membership delivers genuine value and builds a thriving community. 

They will lead the day-to-day delivery of our membership offer across member, supporter and student pathways, creating engaging journeys that attract, retain and inspire people to connect with our work. From onboarding and renewals to member only events, communications and community engagement, they will be the person our members come to know. 

This role sits at the heart of the organisation rather than within a single team. They will work closely with colleagues across science, communications, income generation and operations. This role will work closely with the charities CRM and Office Manager who oversees the administration of memberships, our customer relationship management (CRM) software and data. They will also play an important role in gathering member insight and feeding it back into the ongoing development of our membership proposition. 

This is a highly autonomous and collaborative role. Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and working with colleagues across the organisation, you will translate membership strategy into action, taking ownership of implementation, continuous improvement, member engagement and retention. 

Our charities are small, and our work is often fast paced; as such we are looking for candidates who can work with limited supervision day-to-day and can work on multiple concurrent workstreams.

Key Responsibilities 

Membership 

• Implement and promote the new SciFAW membership offering to current, lapsed and prospective members, helping to grow and strengthen the membership community. 
• Develop the member, supporter and student membership journeys, ensuring a positive and seamless experience at every stage. 
• Manage the membership application approval process, including documenting Trustee decisions and administering confirmations and welcome communications. 
• Liaise with colleagues responsible for the membership operations and data to ensure the charities retain accurate records and use effective processes. 
• Administer and analyse the post-join questionnaire and use its insights on members' interests, affiliations and areas of work to inform future engagement, events and activities. 
• Lead a retention-focused approach across all membership, community, communications and event activities, ensuring members consistently experience value, connection and engagement throughout their relationship with SciFAW, while acting as their primary point of contact. 
• Analyse data and report on member acquisition, retention, trends and engagement. 
• Working with scientific staff, input into the development of the LINKS scheme, supporting its growth and strengthening its role as a membership activity. 

Events 

• Work with scientific colleagues to develop the charities’ programme of member-exclusive events. 
• Organise a programme of member-exclusive events throughout the year, aligned with plans agreed with the Head of Income Generation. 
• Co-ordinate the programme of member-only events alongside our annual conference, working with science staff and conference organisers to design, plan and deliver them. 
• Work with the wider team and external collaborators to develop events and engagement opportunities for students and early-career researchers, including careers-focused content at the annual conference. 
• Contribute to event planning to ensure events are engaging and responsive to member interests and feedback. 
• Work with administrative support colleagues to organise and deliver events, allowing you to focus on member engagement. 
• Provide occasional administrative support for corporate membership and sponsorship activities as required. 

Community and Communications 

• Act as the primary point of contact for members, providing a welcoming, responsive and professional experience. 
• Build strong relationships with members, ensuring they feel valued, connected and engaged with charities missions. 
• Craft the communications to members at each stage of their membership journey to optimise engagement and retention. 
• Produce a quarterly membership newsletter that showcases member stories, highlights opportunities and strengthens community connections. 
• Work with the Communications team to develop engaging membership marketing and retention materials across all SciFAW membership routes and for HSA individual members. 
• Collaborate with scientific staff to deliver member-only roundtables. 
• Collaborate with scientific staff to increase opportunities for members to engage effectively with the charity's grants, awards and scientific activities. 

Essential skills and experience required

• Experience coordinating a membership function, with hands-on delivery of member engagement, recruitment and retention activities and community building. 
• Proven ability to work independently and within scope, managing priorities and collaborating confidently with senior colleagues, scientists and external stakeholders. 
• Experience planning and delivering both online and in-person events. 
• Experience using CRM or membership databases for record management, reporting and analysis (both charities use Beacon CRM). 
• Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing audience-focused content such as newsletters, event communications and membership materials. 
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. 
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously. 
• Reliable and accurate in reporting progress, with a clear view of what's completed, what's outstanding and what's at risk 
• Strong presentation skills, confidence in communicating and presenting to external stakeholders and groups, including being comfortable making phone calls where necessary

We work to raise the status of bereaved families, strengthen professional and systemic responses, and influence policy and practice so that lessons are learned and future deaths are prevented.

About AAFDA All

AAFDA All is a four-year project developed in partnership with Imkaan to create, pilot and evaluate a culturally responsive advocacy and peer support service for bereaved family members from Black and minoritised communities who have lost a loved one to fatal domestic abuse. The project aims to reduce barriers to support, build trust with communities and specialist organisations, strengthen peer connection, and ensure that lived experience shapes service development, practice and wider systems change.

Role Purpose

The Project Co-ordinator will lead the development, co-ordination and day-to-day delivery of AAFDA All, ensuring that the service is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, safe, accessible and shaped by the voices of bereaved family members from Black and minoritised communities. The postholder will work closely with AAFDA colleagues, Imkaan, the Specialist Advocate, volunteers, community partners, statutory agencies and the Service User Advisory Group to develop referral pathways, support co production, co-ordinate peer support activity, monitor outcomes and embed learning across the programme.

Role Context

Recovery in Community is a collaborative initiative delivered in partnership between Gaddum and Manchester Mind. The service supports people to leave inpatient mental health settings and return to their community with the support they need to recover and remain well.

As a team, we deliver psycho-social interventions, advocacy, housing and welfare rights advice, peer support to adults as well as tailored support to young people (those under the age of 25).All we do is underpinned by listening and ensuring people feel heard – because we know that when people are listened to, they recover. The team works with colleagues within the mental health, primary care, inpatient and community sectors.

Role Purpose

As a Peer Support Worker, you will have lived or living experience of receiving mental health care or treatment in hospital. Using your expertise gained through this experience, you will support peers in their mental health recovery who are ready to leave hospital or are already in the community. Receiving support from your colleagues, you’ll develop and manage your casework practice and hold a small case load. 

You will walk alongside people to set achievable goals to ensure they get the support that they need, ultimately feeling connected to their communities – the right services and support network.

This role will work with a small but intensive caseload (max 12 cases for a full-time peer support worker) to focus on: 

• Repatriate: when people are sent to an out of area placement (OAPs) advocate to get them back to Greater Manchester so they can recover in their community. 

• Discharge: Supporting people when they’re ready to be discharged from inpatient mental health services to get back to the community and recover. 

• Prevent re-admissions: Work with people, post-discharge, to ensure they continue to get the support they need to make informed choices, stay well and ultimately thrive.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• To provide bespoke support to people that are ready to be discharged from inpatient psychiatric care to return to the community, building (with support) packages of care so they have a positive and sustained recovery. 

• To work alongside people post-discharge, in their community setting (e.g. home or supported accommodation) to ensure they get what they need to stay well. 

• To effectively manage a small caseload (about 7 people), being flexible to people’s needs and short-term changes in schedule. 

• To work in a person-centred, trauma informed, empowering and culturally appropriate way that enables people to feel listened to and heard.

• To help people engage with services and make sustainable links with their communities. 

• To use and develop your knowledge of community care, policies, legislation and services to get people the support they need to recover and stay well. 

• Identify when cases need escalation or onward referral and keep your line manager aware of case developments. 

• Independently visit people in inpatient and community settings in Manchester and across Greater Manchester, adhering to lone working and risk management procedures. 

• Occasionally visit people out of the Greater Manchester area who need to return to their community in Manchester (all travel expenses will be paid and non-commute travel time will be part of your working day). 

• Build relationships with colleagues within services (e.g. inpatient staff, social care, CMHTs etc) to enable improved collaborative working 

• Take part in multi-disciplinary meetings, representing the views of people, and their aspirations on returning to community settings. 

• Support the ongoing service development, drawing on your role as an ‘Expert by Experience’ and using what you hear from the people you support to contribute to the development of the services by reviewing and contributing to improvements. 

All staff are expected to work within all Gaddum policies and procedures. This role is subject to a enhanced DBS check.

This is a key role in a small and ambitious Communications and Events team, which will sit at the intersection of day-to-day strategic oversight and hands-on delivery. You will develop and deliver engaging marketing and digital campaigns, in line with organisational and communications priorities, manage our year-round events programme, strengthen our community engagement and ensure consistently high standards across Climate Spring’s marketing, digital and events activity.

This role will be perfect for a motivated and experienced marketing and events all-rounder. To excel in this role, you will need to be proactive, highly organised, detail-oriented as well as able to independently manage complex projects and build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners. 

Key responsibilities:

Marketing and community engagement

• Lead the planning and delivery of cross-channel marketing plans (including digital campaigns, events and outreach) to promote Climate Spring’s industry programmes, initiatives and projects, alongside wider organisational campaigns.

• Develop and deliver audience and community engagement strategies that increase participation, strengthen audience journeys and build lasting relationships with our creative community, alumni and industry partners.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to identify priority audiences and community needs, ensuring that the right people are - and stay - engaged through relevant activity and events.

• Develop and manage partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities to extend the reach and impact of Climate Spring’s work.

• Work with industry and production partners to support and collaborate on the marketing and promotion of Climate Spring-supported film and TV projects. 

• Oversee the effective use of planning tools, calendars and reporting processes for marketing, campaigns and events.

• Track performance across campaigns and events, using data, insights and feedback to make recommendations and improve future activity.
   

Brand management and content oversight

• Act as a guardian of Climate Spring’s brand, ensuring consistency, quality and professionalism across all digital, marketing and event materials.

• Provide editorial and visual oversight of presentations, assets and digital content, ensuring that materials align with Climate Spring’s brand guidelines and messaging. 

• Review and provide feedback on copy and materials produced by junior team members, including newsletters, digital content, event materials and other promotional assets.

• Oversee the implementation and use of branded templates, brand guidelines and internal processes, ensuring consistency and quality of marketing, digital and event materials throughout. 

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and with our creative community to identify stories, opportunities and insights that support audience engagement and the promotion of Climate Spring’s work.

• Support senior colleagues with the creation of high-quality presentations and branded materials for meetings, presentations and speaking engagements.

• Contribute creative ideas and direction for digital campaigns and associated digital content.

Event management

• Lead the delivery of Climate Spring’s programme of online and in-person events, including timelines, invitations, registrations, logistics, suppliers, communications and post-event activity.

• Ensure events are delivered to a consistently high standard and provide an excellent attendee and participant experience.

• Support the delivery of Climate Spring community building events, in collaboration with internal teams.

• Work with the Head of Communications and Events to support Climate Spring’s presence at international film and TV festivals and industry markets.

Operational and team management

• Working with the Head of Communications to maintain and support clear workflows, processes and quality control for marketing, communications and event activity across the organisation. 

• Identify opportunities to improve ways of working and professionalise internal workflows for marketing, digital and events.

• Line-manage and support the professional development of the Communications and Marketing Coordinator.

• Act as a deputy for the Head of Communications and Events as required.

• Identify where specialist support is required, such as graphic design, photography or video production, and manage freelancers as required.

Essential experience and skills

• Experience in a marketing, campaigns or communications role, delivering measurable impact on organisational reach, profile or audience engagement.

• Experience developing and delivering integrated marketing activity across multiple channels, using insights and feedback to improve activity.

• Proven experience delivering successful online and in-person events from planning through to evaluation, ensuring a high-quality attendee or participant experience.

• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently, maintain effective workflows and deliver projects to a high standard.

• Experience growing and engaging communities around programmes, events or initiatives, demonstrating a strong understanding of audience engagement.

• Excellent written and editorial skills, with experience reviewing, editing and quality assuring content.

• A strong visual eye and understanding of branding, with experience using Canva or other design software to create or adapt and oversee high-quality, on-brand materials.

• Experience using email marketing platforms, content management systems and analytics tools to plan, deliver and evaluate activity.

• Experience line-managing, coaching and developing colleagues, creating a supportive and collaborative team environment.

• Experience managing external suppliers or freelancers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, budget and to a high standard.

About The Role

The Communications & Digital Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in shaping Animal Equality UK’s public voice. They will ensure all outgoing content, both digital and print, aligns with our brand, values, and mission.

This role will lead on paid digital marketing and lead-generation activities to grow our supporter and donor base; oversee video production; manage website content; optimise organic and paid reach; support SEO strategy; and ensure consistent day-to-day engagement across our social media channels.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across all UK departments, particularly Marketing and Campaigns, as well as with international colleagues, to maximise our impact for farmed animals.

Position Location: Remote, in the UK. Candidates should be prepared to travel to London once a month for in-person team meet-ups. About the role  

As Kent Project Support Coordinator, you will help coordinate and deliver our local perinatal mental health peer support service across Kent. Working closely with our Perinatal Peer Support Service Lead, peer supporters, volunteers, health professionals and community partners, you will help ensure families receive safe, inclusive and accessible support within their local communities. 

Join our passionate team and contribute to the meaningful work that transforms the loves of parents and families. Your role will include:  

Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of local peer support groups, including venues, rotas, local promotion, resources and providing occasional facilitation cover where required. 

Recruiting, coordinating and supporting volunteers and peer supporters, including regular communication and debriefing following sessions to identify safeguarding, signposting or additional support needs. 

Supporting referrals into the service, helping assess individual needs and ensuring parents and families are connected with appropriate peer support, signposting or onward referrals. 

Building and maintaining positive relationships with local health and social care professionals, Family Hubs and community organisations to strengthen referral pathways and increase awareness of the service. 

Supporting monitoring and evaluation through accurate record keeping, data collection, case studies, service feedback and contributions to commissioner reporting and continuous service improvement. 

You will also help promote the service within local communities, particularly among families who may experience additional barriers to accessing support, and contribute to social media content, promotional activities and local events.
