ABOUT CHEFS IN SCHOOLS
Chefs in Schools exists to improve children’s health and futures through better school food and meaningful food education.
We work alongside schools and catering teams to transform what children eat every day, particularly in communities facing the greatest barriers to good health. We combine practical support, training, operational expertise and sector influence to help schools serve fresh, nutritious food that children want to eat.
We’re backed by some of the biggest names in food and are ambitious about both impact and scale. We want every child to have access to excellent school food and a real food education, regardless of background.
We are a values-led organisation - bold, honest, collaborative, innovative and focused on solutions.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This builds on the new functional structure where media and content, policy and campaigns, and the School Food Review programme all sit within External Affairs.
We want Chefs in Schools to become the most trusted and recognisable voice in the conversation around school food and food literacy. This role will play a central part in building that influence and recognition.

Our new strategy focuses on growth and long-term sustainability, with ambitious plans to extend our reach and impact nationally and to expand and diversify our services. Our long-term ambition for the future is a transformed landscape of multi-disciplinary therapeutic support in schools, with UP acknowledged and recognised as a thought-leader, innovator, preferred collaborator and convener.
We are entering a period of significant growth and change driven by our new strategy, and the Clinical Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of our clinical approach, delivering our strategic priorities, and representing UP as a credible and influential clinical leader.

You will champion high standards of multidisciplinary practice, leading and developing our clinical workforce, providing clinical oversight and support, driving improvement and innovation, and building infrastructure, capability and clinical excellence needed to support our future growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic vision with operational delivery. While the role balances both strategic and operational responsibilities, we anticipate that, through building internal capability and capacity, the focus will evolve over time towards a greater emphasis on strategic leadership, innovation, growth and impact. There is real opportunity to make this role your own.
We are looking for a strategic, confident and adaptable leader who will thrive in a growing organisation and enjoy working innovatively and collaboratively. You will be able to inspire confidence and credibility across a wide range of audiences, be passionate about the value of multidisciplinary working to achieve the very best outcomes for children and families, and be motivated by the opportunity to lead meaningful and lasting change.

About The Connection at St Martin’s
We believe that no one should have to sleep rough on London’s streets, and that everyone should get the support they need to find a place to call home. We get to know every person we work with, understanding what they need to recover, helping them build on their strengths, and supporting them to find their own way home. Help us make London a city where no one sleeps rough on our streets.
London’s diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London’s diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates with lived experience of homelessness who we believe are an essential asset in our sector.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and welcome the opportunity to consider flexible working arrangements.
About the Role
Daylight Women’s Day Centre is an exciting new service providing a place of safety and support for women who are long term rough sleepers in London. We want to reach women who have experienced abuse, mental illness, addiction, poor physical health, unclear immigration status and homelessness. Our support will improve their health and wellbeing and enable them to move away from the streets.
Daylight has been designed based on findings from the CHAIN rough sleeping data for London and the Women’s Rough Sleeping Census. This evidence highlights the importance of single gender services for women who hide from mainstream provision dominated by men. Daylight will reflect the Connection Theory of Change, building relationships of trust with people who have no confidence in most health and social care services. Therefore, Trauma Informed Care lies at the heart of everything we do.
Working with the Daylight Service Manager, you will manage a team of staff and volunteers to set up, pilot and deliver this vital new service in a central London location. The service will include a combination of practical facilities such as showers and a laundry, health and wellbeing resources to minimise the harm associated with rough sleeping and support to move into accommodation. We may develop additional aspects to the service as resources become available.
You will have experience in delivering psychologically, gender and culturally informed services to people who are experiencing street homelessness. You will use this experience to build relationships of trust with clients. This will include a commitment to embedding co-production so that the service continues to improve and evolve. You will facilitate in reach services predominantly with a health and harm minimisation focus and develop positive partnerships with external agencies. You will also set up and oversee a group work programme. You will provide strength-based and solution focused one to one support for women to move away from the streets.
Through compassionate and proactive management, you will help build a high performing, well organised and creative team who are passionate about supporting very vulnerable women away from the streets.
Salary: £41,599 - £45,097 (scale Points 26-30)
