WHAT WE DO

We work in Lebanon with Syrian and Palestinian women, and in the UK with women from all over the world. 

Our arts projects include theatre and craft therapy, filmmaking and feminist embroidery. We also facilitate access to training, education and income generation opportunities, and run workshops on parenting support and on women’s rights in a context of rights for all. 

Our flagship Oshana project provides refugee women in Lebanon with a dignified income, a supportive community, and a creative outlet for trauma through embroidery and crochet - and has built a reputation for beautiful design and impeccable craftsmanship. 

We are a young but ambitious organisation that is transforming the lives of hundreds of refugee women and their families in Lebanon, and dozens in the UK. We have rapidly grown over the past three years, with an accompanying increase in income. 

WHO WE ARE

Makani was founded in 2022 and officially registered as a charity in June 2024. One of our co-founders has her own lived experience of displacement; both have worked for many years supporting women who have been forced to leave their homes. 

We now have two staff in the UK and four in Lebanon. We work from home with occasional meetings in London for UK-based staff. As Finance and Administration Manager, you will join us as our seventh staff member, a key member of the team.

As a charity with a strong emphasis on mental health, we foster a supportive and inclusive working environment. We are friendly and flexible. Our team members enjoy working with Makani because we care about each other and are passionate about what we do.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Finance and Administration Manager to lead on developing and maintaining our financial and organisational systems, enabling Makani to increase our impact on the lives of refugee women. 

Position: Finance and Administration Manager

Contract type: Permanent - but also open to applications on a consultant basis

Responsible to: Director of Operations

Location: Home-based, with occasional meetings in London (transport costs covered)

Hours: 20 hours per week, core hours to be agreed upon appointment, flexitime-friendly

Salary: £35,000 per annum pro rata (£20,000 for the 20 hour week)

Annual leave and benefits:

28 days annual leave pro rata (not including bank holidays)

Company pension with matched contributions of at least 3% after probation passed.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance

• Work with the Executive team to set and monitor annual budgets

• Record all financial transactions using accounting software (Xero)

• Record and track multiple restricted and unrestricted grants from a range of donors

• Prepare and present quarterly management accounts for the Board

• Prepare end-of-year accounts 

• Oversee payroll and ensure timely invoice payments

• Ensure the charity complies with the financial requirements of the Charity Commission, HMRC and other bodies

• Develop and maintain financial procedures and internal controls

• Liaise with external accountants or auditors for the preparation of annual accounts and statutory reporting

• Monitor cash flow and support the Director of Operations in maintaining financial sustainability

• Work with colleagues to prepare budgets and financial reports for funders

• Contribute to development of funding bids, with Executive Team.
   

Administration & HR

• Support the board and senior staff to maintain and update charity policies (safeguarding, finance, HR, etc.)

• Support the board to develop HR processes to ensure legal compliance 

• Organise and minute quarterly trustee meetings

• Book travel and support with other logistics as needed

• Other administrative tasks as relevant and appropriate
   

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

You will have:

• Proven experience in charity financial management, including restricted/unrestricted funding

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Xero accounting software

• Familiarity with UK charity accounting and reporting standards

• Strong organisational and administrative skills

• Ability to work independently and remotely and to communicate well in a small team

• Understanding of good HR policies and practice for small charities 

• Understanding of or willingness to learn about other key areas of compliance such as data protection 

• Commitment to Makani’s mission and our feminist and anti-racist values

And it's desirable but not essential that you have:

• Experience of preparing funding bids and financial reporting to funders 

• Experience of working in a charity with some overseas operations

The Direct Marketing Manager at CBM UK is a vital role and has responsibility for delivering CBM UKs digital and direct marketing plans to engage and inspire individual supporters and churches to support the work of CBM.
Working closely with the Head of Marketing, as part of the Public Fundraising team, the role holder will be responsible for the management and development of two Marketing Officers. Through digital and direct marketing, the Public Fundraising team are responsible for raising over £3m of unrestricted income from cultivation, acquisition, mid-value donors, regular giving, legacies and churches.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising campaign management (40%)
Manage the effective implementation of the annual public fundraising plan, ensuring that all activity is of a high standard, and delivered on time and to budget:
a. Oversee cultivation fundraising appeals primarily carried out through direct mail and email, leading on the continued development of mass fundraising to engage both existing and potential supporters, including high donors, regular givers and church communities.
b. Manage and develop CBM UKs donor acquisition activity in collaboration with the Marketing Officer (Acquisition), using channels such as social media, magazine inserts, press advertising, email and telephone.
c. Oversee the delivery of CBM UKs legacy and in-memoriam giving plans and campaigns.
d. Identify and consider new income streams and broaden the channels used currently for direct response campaigns to reach an agreed balance of long-term value versus risk.

Digital marketing (40%)
Grow digital engagement and income from new and existing supporters:
a. Lead on Pay Per Click strategy, including agency management and development of internal capabilities.
b. Oversee CBM UK’s paid social media activity.
c. Collaborate with the Communications Team to optimise the performance (traffic and income) of fundraising pages, including appeal and donation pages, churches and community, legacy, and in memoriam giving. Ensuring fundraising pages on the CBM website are engaging to existing and new audiences and where appropriate, utilising Search Engine Optimisation tools where appropriate.

d. Explore and make use of new and existing digital platforms and partners, such as Dataro and SEMrush, while promoting a culture of testing, innovation and learning within the digital space.

Leadership and people management (10%)
a. Support and inspire direct reports in line with CBM UK’s staff management policies and procedures. Ensure team members are appropriately trained, briefed and motivated to achieve their objectives and meet targets and recruit to posts where relevant. Regular 121s and appraisal reviews.
Planning and reporting (10%)
a. Monitor and report on fundraising appeals, identifying opportunities for future testing and optimisation, and contribute to the creation of annual planning, budgeting, and the setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
b. Work closely with the Data and Insight team to ensure strong joint working on technical solutions related to campaign analysis, tracking and insights across digital systems, such as the website, donation platform and CRM (Salesforce).
c. Plan, deliver and report on campaigns/projects within an agreed budget.

Other
a. Ensure the consistent use of CBMs brand, key messages and style guide across all fundraising activities.
b. Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to direct marketing, including Fundraising Regulator guidance, and Data Protection legal requirements (GDPR and PECR).
c. Collaborate with colleagues across CBM UK and the CBM Global Federation, to support integrated and partnership based working.
d. Help foster a positive and inclusive culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM, and promoting positive working and innovation.

You will oversee a small CQC registered women’s service, which has recently been rated Good at inspection. There will be full corporate support to assist with this role, and you will ensure that our services are of the highest quality. In conjunction with the Director, you will lead the South Manchester senior team.  Your role will be to ensure that the service users/ tenants receive the best possible care and support to ensure they can enjoy their best lives and reach personal outcomes. You will also oversee successful provision of our established and well-regarded contracts with Manchester City Council.

This role is typically 37.5 hours per week, but we would consider a part time contract of no less than 30 hours per week. There are great career and development opportunities within this role, and full support and training will be offered.

The Grants Officer is a key role supporting our grant-making systems, grants strategy and growth plans. Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation (M2M) is a charity dedicated to helping individuals rebuild their lives after experiencing physical or emotional trauma. Founded by former professional rugby player Ed Jackson and his wife, Lois, following Ed’s life-changing spinal injury, M2M uses the power of adventure, nature, and community to support people on their journey of recovery. 

At the heart of the charity lies the M2M Development Programme - a bespoke, holistic support system tailored to each beneficiary’s unique recovery journey. Through one-to-one mentorship, a nurturing community, and the transformative power of the outdoors (culminating in life-changing mountain expeditions abroad), M2M empowers individuals to rediscover purpose, rebuild confidence, and move forward with lasting resilience. We take on eight new beneficiaries each year, supporting up to 24 individuals at any one time. Guided by our ‘inch-wide, mile-deep’ philosophy, we focus on depth of impact over scale, ensuring each person receives the tools, encouragement, and care needed to create life-long change. This includes access to grants for physiotherapy, psychotherapy, job retraining, and any other support essential to their growth. Everyone is met exactly where they are, with a personalised plan that reflects their goals, challenges, and potential.

In addition to our core programmes, M2M runs Together Outdoors  - an initiative that harnesses the healing power of nature and connection through community-based mental health walks. Led by trained volunteers and Life Coaches, these walks offer safe, inclusive spaces for honest conversations, emotional support, and personal growth. The Role

We’re seeking an organised, enthusiastic Community & Events Coordinator to help us deliver our Together Outdoors community walks and events, as well as key moments within our M2M Development Programme for beneficiaries. This role will play a vital part in deepening relationships with our growing supporter base and expanding our impact. You’ll work closely with our Charity Manager, Co-Founder, volunteers, and external partners to bring meaningful experiences to life.

While experience in fundraising, events, customer service, or administration is welcome, what matters most is a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to grow. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver M2M’s community and beneficiary events, managing logistics, communications, and on-the-day coordination (driving license required) and post-event evaluation.

• Oversee the M2M UK events calendar and support budget planning for each activity.

• Coordinate and support volunteers, especially those leading Together Outdoors walks across the UK.

• Liaise with external providers and partners for UK-based adventure experiences.

• Manage and maintain our CRM system to track sign-ups, engagement, and communications.

• Update website content with event listings, registration links, and community updates.

• Work closely with our social media lead to publicise events, event fundraising campaigns and boost visibility.

• Support the creation of new wellness and fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the wider team.

• Helping with fundraising campaign and event logistics, materials and administration to keep everything running smoothly.

• Contribute to our overall community engagement strategy and identify opportunities for growth and connection.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in events coordination or community fundraising (ideally within the third sector).

Job title: Library of Things Manager (Frenchay)
Reports to: Operations and Development Manager
Based from: Share Bristol Frenchay, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol BS16.
Contract: Permanent
Work pattern: £12.75 per hour, minimum of 12 hrs a week. The 12 hours per week are to include the following hours onsite at Share Bristol on the UWE Frenchay campus.
Core hours will be:
– Tuesdays 4:45-7:15pm
– Wednesdays 11:45-2:15pm
– Fridays 9:45-12:15pm
Other hours can be worked flexibly either on or off-site.

Oversee the Share Bristol Frenchay Library of Things, ensuring it meets the needs of the local community, and work in partnership with the rest of the Share Bristol team to ensure the success of our charity and our Library of Things service.

This role is responsible for the day to day running of the Frenchay Library of Things, recruiting and supporting our volunteers, helping us engage with partner organisations, including UWE, managing our Thing donations and inventory, and assisting our current and potential members.

We’re looking for someone to start as soon as practical, and work around 12 hours a week. The working hours will be mainly around when we are open for lending sessions.
