Based within schools, we are looking for friendly and committed children and young people counsellors who are passionate in supporting in helping their clients to help them on their journey towards positive mental health and who will embed and share Beacon's values. You will deliver face to face counselling and within the role, be enthusiastic, caring, positive and committed to learning and developing to ensure we continue to provide the best service to our clients.

The main objectives of the role:

• To provide a confidential and ffective counselling service for children and young people 
• When working in a school, to work as Beacon’s main representative  and ambassador in the school and the community.
• To work with the manager, supervisor, and school’s counselling team to assist in the development of Beacon’s counselling service 
• To work flexibly and cover additional schools or areas at different locations if required. 
• To manage your caseload through working with your supervisor and maintain appropriate documentation of your work. 
• If required, to facilitate group sessions with children and young people to meet the needs of the school
• To establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key staff in schools and other partnership organisations, liaising, as appropriate, within BACP confidentiality guidelines 
• To work to a high professional standard and within the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy 

About Chapter One

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. 

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports around 3,000 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 140 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the Role

The Human Resources (HR) & Administrative Assistant will provide support to the CEO, Line Managers and the wider team with a range of HR related and administrative tasks. They will work remotely and will need to have access to a reliable internet connection. They will report to the CEO.

This role is ideal for someone who wishes to pursue a career in HR, and Chapter One is willing to support the postholder to gain external qualifications. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and the post-holder must be permanently based in the UK at the time of applying and for the duration of their employment. 

All Chapter One employees are required to attend quarterly in-person staff meetings held in various locations across the UK (all expenses covered); participation is mandatory.

Main duties will include:

HR Administration and Data Management

• Maintain accurate and up to date HR records on Chapter One systems

• Be the in-house expert on Breathe, Chapter One’s HR system

• Lead on data entry and HR system (Breathe HR) management, including generating relevant reports to support staff management and key decision making

• Monitor and track training and DBS records ensuring timely renewals in line with Chapter One’s policies

• Assist with documenting and maintaining HR process and workflows

• Ensure employee documents are stored correctly and confidentially

Organisational Policies and HR Procedures

• Working with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to create, update and disseminate relevant Charity policies and/or updates to the staff handbook

• Prepare standard HR letters and documents (contracts, change letters)

• Lead on the liaison with and promotion of the organisations Employee Assistance Programme (Health Assured EAP)

• Create process guides for staff in collaboration with Line Managers and the CEO

• Act as a first point of support for HR-related queries from managers, escalating to the CEO when needed

• Liaise with Chapter One’s external HR advice provider when additional expertise is required

• Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR administrative processes and procedures

Recruitment, Onboarding and Offboarding

• Support managers through the entirety of the recruitment process for staff and trustees - including, but not limited to, advertising vacancies, organising applications, arranging interviews, monitoring interview tasks, coordinating assessments, collecting candidate documents, requesting references

• Managing the onboarding process for all new staff, including, but not limited to, holding HR induction meetings, coordinating new starter paperwork, setting probation review dates and training

• Work with Line Managers to organise induction plans, schedule introductory meetings, and ensure new starters are fully supported during their initial weeks

• Coordinate the offboarding process for departing staff, including exit interviews, return of equipment, and removal from systems

General HR Support

• Organise and schedule staff meetings and organisation-wide training sessions

• Coordinate wellbeing and employee engagement activities, including, but not limited to annual surveys, staff away days, seasonal events

• Plan and coordinate in-person meeting logistics, including venue booking, accommodation, equipment and refreshments, ensuring all arrangements are inclusive and appropriately tailored to staff needs

• Work with the SLT to be a champion of Chapter One’s values, and a custodian of its supportive work culture

• Communicate instructions and other messages to Line Managers and staff clearly and promptly on behalf of the CEO 

• Support with preparation for audits or compliance checks e.g. Right to Work, DBS

• Provide HR support to staff working groups e.g. Wellbeing or Learning and Development

• Attend external HR webinars (eg with DOHR or Breathe) and disseminate information to the CEO & Line Managers as required

• Stay informed of relevant employment law updates, notifying the CEO of possible changes needed to policies or procedures

• Support general organisational administration as needed, such as scheduling key meetings, maintaining registers or documentation, or assisting with regulatory filings

• Assist the CEO & Line Managers with additional HR and administrative/organisational tasks, assigned at the discretion of the CEO

• Educated to A-level standard or equivalent

• A genuine interest in Chapter One, with a passion for the work we do

• Experience in a similar HR role 

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and Google Workspace

This is a hybrid working role, with 8 onsite days per month at the Carlisle and London sites, with the remainder working from home.

Salary: £38,000 – 42,000 per annum (dependent upon experience) plus travel expenses

About the Role

You will collaborate closely with a cross section of teams within the Youth Zones, working with the Youth Work delivery teams to feed data into decision making, and with the Communications and Fundraising teams to provide impact measurement and analysis content for use with stakeholders and in donor reporting. Furthermore, it will align impact and data work with national and local policy, and use national census, health, police and other statistical data to position the four Youth Zones for new income generation opportunities.

Main responsibilities include:

• Measuring and demonstrating the charities’ impact to stakeholders
• Authoring and providing the necessary data to the leadership and fundraising teams and Board (as required)
• Annual publications such as Trustees Reports and annual Impact Reports.
• Lead on data analysis and reporting on the data held in Salesforce CRM, improving both the quality and quantity of monitoring and evaluation processes
• Driving improvements in data capture through training and upskilling the Youth Work team
• Strengthening the ability of the two Youth Zones to demonstrate the measurable impact of youth work delivered.

Innovation is a key aspect of this role, involving the introduction and embedding of new methodologies to enhance the qualitative data capture process.

About You

This role is ideal for someone who has the ability to bring technical analysis to life in a youth work setting and can communicate insights in an accessible style to different audiences. The Impact and Insights Officer should be passionate about embracing the power of youth work and be keen to support Youth Zones in evidencing the impact created with young people. It will require someone who can bring impact expertise and creativity to create buy-in and drive improvements in data capture; and someone who is keen to work flexibly and closely with teams of passionate Youth Workers and who is unafraid of the challenge presented by Youth Zones in two very different geographic locations.

Previous experience in a data analysis or similar role, including handling large datasets, using data to derive insights and data-led decision making is required for this role, along with experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau), and previous experience working with young people or in a youth work setting.

Linked Minds is a successful project providing support for people with diagnosed mental health problems who have become isolated. It has been operational since Oct 2018 and works exclusively to support people with a diagnosis of mental health problems through volunteer befriending.  

You will have experience in supporting people with mental health problems and be committed to the Recovery Approach. You will:

• Manage a caseload of clients with diagnosed mental health problems and ensure they establish and maintain a supportive and safe befriending relationship with their volunteers
• Manage a team of volunteers to ensure they maintain a supportive and safe befriending relationship with their clients

About the role 

The Supporter Care Lead role is a varied and business critical role.  You’ll be maintaining the day to day operations for first line support and will play a pivotal role in developing the team and the Supporter Experience Strategy. You’ll ensure we’re deepening relationships with supporters and exceeding their expectations. 

The Supporter Care Team is at the very forefront of delivering front-line experiences and ensuring that every interaction with Parkinson’s UK is valued and matters.

What you’ll do:

• Work collaboratively with the Head of Supporter Experience and other Experience leads to support the creation of the Experience strategy

• Lead, motivate and support the team to achieve agreed objectives, ensuring SLAs are met and key projects are supported

• Provide expert insight into our audience data and use this information to measure success, improve processes, supporter experience and ultimately increase income and loyalty

• Oversight and responsibility for new Feedback case management system including onboarding of key business areas to increase volume and diversify sources of feedback

• Implement regular and robust feedback reports in order to gain insight, sharing learnings with leadership teams and the Fundraising Regulator

What you’ll bring:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop others 

• Proven experience of delivering effective customer service and supporter care 

• Experience of working at a senior level, managing multiple stakeholders to manage and deliver projects and lead busy teams 

• Ability to develop positive working relationships with a range of people internally and externally, as well as working collaboratively with strong negotiation and influencing skills 

• Ability to work under own initiative without guidance, cope well under pressure and meet deadlines

Reporting to: Service Manager

Location: Baca office, Cambridge, England with regular travel to locations where Baca’s services are delivered.

Salary: £29,009 - £31,203 per annum for full time hours. Equivalent to £23,207 to £24,962 per annum for 30 hours. The role also comes with an allowance of £2301 (pro rata) for Cambridge cost of living.

Working hours: 30 hours a week.

About Baca: Baca is dedicated to providing support and care to 16 to 18 year old unaccompanied asylum seeking children who are newly arrived in the country, helping them rebuild their strength, dignity, and hope for the future. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Education Coordinator to join our team and lead the delivery of our education program.

Overall Purpose: As the Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering Baca's education program. Your role will be crucial in enabling the young people we support to achieve a standard of English that allows them to enrol in local college courses and become empowered individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver the education program creatively to meet the diverse needs of young people.
• Support the achievement of outcomes in line with Baca’s Theory of Change, including improved physical and emotional wellbeing, increased engagement with education, employment, and training, social engagement, and personal safety.
• Review and develop the education program to ensure it meets the needs of young people and college course requirements.
• Liaise with colleges and education providers to support student enrolment and ongoing academic success.
• Recruit, train, support, and supervise education volunteers, including developing volunteer resources and training packs.
• Coordinate education support from volunteers, ensuring effective matching with young people and development of appropriate activities.
• Participate in meetings to deliver services effectively.
• Oversee the education volunteering budget and resources.
• Conduct monitoring and evaluation of volunteer activities.
• Maintain accurate records and databases, including monthly and end-of-year reports.

Experience and Skills:

• Proven experience in a similar role, coordinating services for young people.
• Teaching experience to Young People.
• Qualified teacher of English as a second language  - with ESOL/TEFL/ CELTA
• Experience working constructively as part of a team.
• Experience analysing service delivery challenges and presenting solutions.
• Experience developing and managing volunteers.
• Strong organizational, project, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of issues faced by unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
• Ability to drive/travel to all service delivery locations.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
