Who are we?

St. John's is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs. We also support autistic learners who have an additional profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) syndrome. We have a team built up of support workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, PBS practitioners, assistant psychologists, and more, to support us in our holistic approach to development.

Each learner's curriculum is shaped by their individual strengths, interests, and challenges. St. John's is awarded with Autism Accreditation by the National Autistic Society (NAS). We support our learners to develop their skills in the NAS's four focus areas of:

We are looking for a caring, dynamic and highly motivated Service Manager to join our established team in South Manchester.

Our office is based in Withington, with the services being based over six sites in South Manchester, which operate under a small community-based team. As Service Manager, you will lead the operational management of our exceptional South Manchester services, which have been developed over the past 30 years to meet the needs of people who require mental health support, with other related needs. These services have an exceptional reputation and have offered excellent support for over 25 years - three of these services are women’s gender-based accommodation. 

You will oversee a small CQC registered women’s service, which has recently been rated Good at inspection. There will be full corporate support to assist with this role, and you will ensure that our services are of the highest quality. In conjunction with the Director, you will lead the South Manchester senior team.  Your role will be to ensure that the service users/ tenants receive the best possible care and support to ensure they can enjoy their best lives and reach personal outcomes. You will also oversee successful provision of our established and well-regarded contracts with Manchester City Council.

How will I be working?

This role aims to increase a range of opportunities for local people to be active & move more, through implementing the Physical Activity Digital Inclusion strategy to address user needs, develop digital literacy and confidence through training and support, and collaborate with other sectors to create inclusive digital services and opportunities.

Main Duties

1.As the Digital Inclusion Manager, you will develop and manage an implementation plan which reflects the desired outcomes of Active Black Country’s Physical Activity Digital Strategy.

2.    Work with the place partners across the 4 Black Country local authority areas and Active Black Country to develop a comprehensive understanding of the digital landscape across the Black Country.

3. Develop effective working relationships with a breadth of partners and organisations to support integration across digital platforms and systems to connect, maximise resources and influence across the Black Country.

4. Be the lead advocate for the Black Country Moving digital platform as a resource for stakeholders and community organisations to promote opportunities for people to be active and access high quality CPD & training.

5. Work closely with Active Black Country’s Active Communities Strategic Lead to oversee the work of the Community Engagement Officers and work closely with partners to build capacity across community organisations to become confident and capable in using digital tools that make it easier for residents to access physical activity opportunities.

6. Sustain an inclusive and accessible open data Black Country Moving Platform that promotes a diverse range of activities, services, training and CPD.

7. Ensure the Black Country Moving platform remains accessible, user friendly and responsive to community and partners needs.

8. Co-ordinate and chair project steering group meetings and produce reports for partners and appropriate governance requirements. Including ABC Strategic investment Committee.

9. Working with the support of the ABC Strategic Lead for Impact, ensure monitoring, evaluation and learning is captured and applied to help us fulfil organisational and place ambitions.

10. Work with the Active Black Country Strategic Communications Lead to share case studies and good news stories.

11.  Under the Director of Partnerships manage the digital inclusion budget, ensuring accurate financial management and reporting.

12.  Ensuring compliance at all times with contract management, procurement and finance procedures.

13.  To be responsible and take reasonable care for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and other employees and the public in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and company procedures.

14.  Adhere to the Data Protection Act at all times. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Area to work as part of our Operations Team, working across Swindon, Wiltshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West.

As a Head Of Area for Rethink Mental Illness, you will work as part of the London and South East Regional Services team. You’ll engage NHS Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and Local Authorities, as well as engaging with government level strategic programmes, developing partnerships that align with our corporate strategy ‘working together to build communities that care’ You will ensure that we utilise the experience, expertise, and reputation of Rethink Mental Illness to help shape care and support services, change the way in which services are delivered through new partnerships and grow our service offer to improve the lives of people severely affected by mental illness in places we operate, and beyond.

The release of the NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England in 2025, titled ‘Fit For The Future,’ presents new opportunities to influence the government’s three major initiatives: transitioning care from hospitals to community settings, incorporating digital technology, and focusing on prevention rather than treatment. These objectives align with our Corporate Strategy and are pursued through our internal Mission Delivery Boards.

About the role:

In this role, you will hold a caseload of 15 clients across Westminster and temporary accommodation sites in boroughs across London, working as part of a close-knit, specialist team alongside four other Assertive Outreach Workers, a manager and a psychologist. Your day will be as varied as it is rewarding - guiding clients to sustain their tenancies, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, engage with substance use support services, and access routes into employment. You will cultivate strong partnerships with local agencies, from statutory services to specialist providers, ensuring no opportunity for progress is missed. You will also play a crucial role in assessing needs, identifying risks and maintaining accurate, meaningful records that help shape the support we provide. This is not just a chance to change lives on an individual level, but to be part of a national project pioneering new techniques to improve outcomes for people facing complex challenges around substance use.

• A working knowledge of best practice to support individuals who may be classified as ‘experiencing multiple disadvantage’ including Trauma Informed Approaches.
• Experience working as part of a multi-agency partnership to address complex problems and bring about positive change.
• Familiarity with relevant housing, health and social justice legislation, policy and best practice relevant to systems change and people with multiple needs.
• A good and current understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures.
