Resurrection Trading (known as Resurrection Furniture) is a vibrant friendly charity shop in Alton High Street specialising in recycled second hand furniture and home goods. We need an efficient organiser to lead our team of volunteers, manage the office and bring a creative flair to display and sales.

About us
We opened in Alton in 2017 and in 2022 moved to larger premises at 21b High Street. The charity is linked to the Parish of the Resurrection. All profits from the shop go to good causes in Alton, especially to support youth related projects, people in need, heritage buildings and the community.

The shop is a busy, friendly place supported by a skilled team of repairers in the workshop and a lively band of drivers and lifters on the van. In total we have more than 50 volunteers and the charity is led by a team of Trustees. The shop is open 10 to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Job Summary
The Manager’s role is typical for a retail high street shop except that there is no head office or back up staff - the manager and volunteers between them carry out all functions. These include:
Daily office administration - communications especially daily emails, Facebook messages and phone calls re furniture donations and sales, discussions with volunteers.
Coordination of volunteers including induction training, support and leadership,
Organising donations – selection, collection, pricing, display and delivery.
Shop organisation, administration and reporting to Trustees including publicity
 

Key Responsibilities:

Office Administration
• Deal promptly with shop communications via telephone, emails, Facebook and in person each day relating to donations, sales, and messages from volunteers
• Maintain data including personnel and customer information, finance and other record keeping.
• Manage the system of agreeing furniture donations, arranging collections from and deliveries to homes around Alton and booking slots on the van.
• Order shop supplies and maintain health and safety systems
• Manage gift aid documentation and other notices.
• Liaise with the workshop team, the van team, the Parish monthly market and Trustees

Volunteer Coordination
• Manage the volunteer rota ensuring that the shop is staffed by two to three volunteers including a lead volunteer per shift six days per week.
• Support the Trustee who manages the van rota currently four mornings per week depending on demand.
• Identify and recruit new volunteers as necessary, organise induction and regular training especially relating to health and safety, cash management and shop and van routine.
• Frequently communicate with volunteers in person, via the notice board, email and newsletter on shop organisation, sales new personnel and events.
• Liaise with lead volunteers regularly on organisation and volunteer issues.

Managing donations and sales
• In conjunction with volunteers decide on items to be accepted based on quality, saleability, existing stock from photos and other information.
• Value items not already priced by volunteers using the RF pricing guide and on-line apps.
• Ensure the shop is full of a wide range of items with back up stock kept in the store offsite.
• Promote donations via estate agents, care homes, general publicity and regular house clearances

Shop organisation
• Arrange for regular updating of shop and window displays
• Keep the shop and workshop clean and a safe environment
• Ensure that volunteers follow RF policies and procedures
• Ensure good customer relations including dealing with complaints
• Publicity including a newsletter and Facebook and website pages

We offer

• £15 per hour or £15,600 - £19500 (depending on hours worked)

About the role

Reporting into the Health, Safety, Security & Safeguarding Lead, the Health, Safety & Security Manager is a key role for the operational management of the safety and security function and the provision of related technical expertise to our colleagues at all levels and areas of the organisation.

We’re recruiting for a Communications Manager, England, to play a vital role in helping us to build community cohesion, strengthen society, and improve lives – as we deliver on our strategy, It Starts With Community.This role is an 18 month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity. 

The position is part of an exciting and sophisticated programme aimed at tackling social issues. Through this initiative, we work closely with government to distribute money from long since unused bank and building society accounts (‘dormant assets’) for the benefit of the community. 

The job will focus on two multi-million-pound funding schemes that The National Lottery Community Fund will deliver. These are:

•  The Community Wealth Fund (a pot of money given to local communities to spend on what they decide will improve where they live); and 
• The Youth Enrichment Fund (aimed at increasing disadvantaged young people’s access to opportunities in the arts, culture, sports, and wider youth services, aimed at improving wellbeing and employability)

In this role, you’ll work closely with government and colleagues across the Fund to deliver integrated, multi-channel communications activities that effectively promote these programmes and showcase their impact on the communities we serve. Your work will help shape public understanding of the schemes, inspire communities to engage with them, and build trust with key stakeholders.

We are looking for a calm and organised strategic communicator and storyteller with an ability to build relationships and adapt. You’ll be experienced in developing integrated campaigns and working across teams to deliver high-impact communications.

•  Develop deep insight into these programmes, to enable you to implement effective communications plans for them while supporting Strategic Communications Leads to build and manage matrix teams.

Donnington Doorstep Family Centre is an independent, community-based children’s centre, governed by a board of trustees, delivering a range of universal and specialist services. The Individual Giving & Community Fundraising Manager will have an exciting opportunity to grow World Child Cancer’s individual giving. They will also lead on creating a donor experience that will ensure people can engage with us in lots of different ways, from a lottery or regular support, legacies, community fundraising and events (including the London Marathon).

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Managing and growing individual giving.
• Recruiting and stewarding individual supporters through existing channels.

• Stewarding participants to build a pool of regular givers, medium level donors, legacy donors and event participants.
• Ensuring fundraising data is effectively managed, analysed and utilised.

• Supporting the Fundraising Executive responsible for the planning and logistics for fundraising events.
• Working collaboratively with the other Fundraising teams and Marketing to ensure supporters get the best experience.

This is a hands-on management role so you will need to be prepared to do the work as well as managing. The post holder will be an ambitious, creative self-starter who is passionate about World Child Cancer’s programmes as well as our fundraising activities. They will work as well in a team as they do on their own and be happy to undertake administrative tasks as well as more complex fundraising projects. As a smaller organisation (circa £3m) everyone has to be prepared to support each other, so tasks may vary.

30 hours per week / £27,770 per annum, pro rata / permanent / Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with 1 day off per week. Working 4 days per week. Day off preferably Thursday.

Our houses 22 young families in locations across the city in low and medium supported accommodation. As a team member, you will take an assets-based approach, working with parents and their children in their homes and the community to provide focussed family and housing support which improves parenting capacity, increases the aspirations and motivations of families to take up education, employment and training opportunities and improves family function with children feeling more secure and parents confident in their parenting abilities. We are a small friendly team consisting of a Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager and 3 Project Support Workers.

We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Brighton Young Families team. Main areas of responsibilities are:

Coaching and Engagement

• Coach an agreed number of young parents to articulate and achieve their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives with their children
• Work proactively, creatively, and effectively with young parents to help them to develop a consistent and positive approach to parenting aimed at addressing behaviours and overcoming challenges
• To promote and facilitate parental understanding of a child’s needs and to support parents to provide an appropriate environment in which children feel safe, and which encourages the development of both the child’s and parents’ self-esteem and resilience

• Coach young parents to develop strong networks and connections outside of the service, which will sustain them once they move on. Encourage and proactively assist in the development of skills needed to successfully live, learn, and work.

General:

• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Experience and Knowledge:

• Experienced in working directly with young parents aged 16-21 years old and able to engage and relate well to this age group and their children
• Experience of working with children
• Competent understanding of the key safeguarding and health risks, challenges and opportunities for young parents and their children
• Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services and experience of liaising with them
• Experienced in making informed assessments of need and risks and to formulate appropriate plans, including Early Help Assessments and where appropriate acting as Lead Professional
• Good knowledge of child development, particularly that of new-born babies and its influence on parent/child relationship in every stage of a child’s development. Proven experience in safeguarding young children and vulnerable adults.

Skills and Abilities: 

• Able to inspire and work proactively with young parents to develop their talents.
• Able to build strong relationships with other professionals in other organisations.
• A strong team player who can support and challenge colleagues appropriately.
• Uses a range of methods for persuasion and achieving positive results with young families.
• Excellent record keeping and report writing. There is a strong element around data recording using a variety of data management systems, we require staff who are confident in their ability to adapt easily to these systems.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and data management systems such as B-Think or INFORM.
• Qualifications and Training Educated to GCSE/NVQ Level 2 in relevant subjects, or equivalent through relevant CPD training/experience relating to housing, support work, and/or working with young people or adults at risk Evidence of CPD relating to housing, support work and/or working with young people or vulnerable adults

Main purpose of post
This is a senior role within the Fundraising team, responsible for driving forward
Weston Park Cancer Charity’s income generation strategy across key fundraising
channels, particularly within community fundraising, donor development, and
community partnerships. Working with the Head of Fundraising and community
fundraising team, you will lead the design and delivery of an ambitious and
creative community fundraising programme.
You will be responsible for managing a small, dedicated team of three, ensuring
high performance, innovation, and supporter-focused approaches that help us
grow our impact across the region.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on delivery, ensuring that we
meet community income generation plans to achieve and exceed annual targets
currently c. £800k per annum.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising:
 Lead and deliver an ambitious and creative community fundraising
programme, identifying new opportunities to engage individuals, groups,
schools, faith groups, sports clubs, volunteer fundraisers, and community
organisations.
 Maintain, develop and deliver a calendar of high-impact community
campaigns such as Time for Tea, that inspire participation, raise awareness of
the charity’s work, and generate sustainable income.
 Use insights and audience data to create tailored supporter journeys that
build long-term relationships, encourage repeat fundraising, and deepen
engagement.
 Harness audience data and insight to expand our fundraising reach,
increasing income in underserved areas of the region.
 Represent the charity at community events, delivering public talks,
stewarding key supporters, and raising awareness of WPCC’s work across
our region.
 Oversee the delivery of income and engagement targets, measuring impact,
evaluating outcomes, and embedding continuous improvement across all
community fundraising activity

Monitoring & Reporting
 Manage community fundraising income and expenditure budgets, ensuring
strong ROI and cost-effectiveness.
 Produce regular reports for senior leadership on performance, trends, and
forecasts.
 Ensure data is accurately recorded, monitored, and used to inform decisionmaking.

Team Management and Development
 Line manage and inspire team members.

 Provide support and guidance to the wider community and fundraising

MHC plays a vital role in addressing the local challenges relating to homelessness and hardship in the borough of Maidstone, Kent. Our Food Bank provides essential supplies to households forced to choose between heating and eating, especially during the harsh winter months. The MHC Day Centre provides a vital refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. Serving as a hub for essential services and support, the centre offers access to washing facilities, assistance with applications for benefits, jobs, and housing, and a nourishing home-cooked meal - all within a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental environment. Through these services, the centre helps restore dignity and stability to those in need. Meanwhile, our supported accommodation steps in where local councils may struggle to provide housing, helping individuals find long-term, stable solutions to their situation. We have been supporting the local homeless community for over 30 years and remain committed to continuing this vital work.

We are seeking a Manager to run our Day Centre and oversee the Food Bank and Goodsell House, our 10 bedded supportive housing unit

.

You will manage a small, dedicated staff and volunteer group who provide ongoing support to homeless people, with the aim of moving them on to permanent accommodation wherever possible. 

You will need effective leadership and management skills and will benefit from structured support from our Trustee group.

The working hours are 8am – 2.30pm and starting salary is £29K per annum, with a review after 6 months.
