How much time are you expected to give and when?

Looking for volunteers based across Staffordshire, support provided remotely. Minimum age for this role: 16

Become a Community Discharge Support Service Volunteer and help someone get back on their feet when they come home from hospital.

What do Community Support Volunteers do?

Our friendly Community Support Volunteers visit people when they have come home from hospital, typically once a week for 4 – 6 weeks.

At a time when people are recovering and really appreciate a bit of extra help you could be supporting with shopping and light housework. But it’s often the company and encouragement of our volunteers that is appreciated the most as we check in and chat!

By doing this we help with recovery and reduce the chance of readmission to hospital.

You can also help from our office in Aylesbury  by making welfare and check in calls with our clients and helping to arrange these visits.

What is expected of me?

Community Support Volunteers are expected to visit each client once a week for up to 6 weeks.

These visits are flexible, based on your availability.

Our office support volunteers are asked to help for 1 – 2 hours a week.

Volunteers complete a short relevant training session and provide references.

As part of the Government led Communities for Afghans programme, we are looking to recruit individuals or groups (UK BASED ONLY) to make up a team of 6 volunteers to support an Afghan family - you could be friends, neighbours, colleagues, faith groups, veterans, or community organisations are welcome.

We are currently focused on supporting families across Wales, West Midlands and Scotland but be keen to support elsewhere geographically where possible.  With this in mind, you may live in these areas, but we are also delighted to bring volunteers together remotely to support a family. 

You will be at the heart of this programme. It is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference!

The Communities for Afghans programme is a community-led Government initiative supporting families as they rebuild their lives in the UK. It is a Government-approved scheme that enables local people to welcome Afghan refugee families into their community. Volunteers will be supported by us to find housing for a family, provide practical and emotional support enabling them to settle into daily life and feel a genuine sense of belonging in the community.

How community sponsorship work

1. Form a Sponsor Group Create a team of six or more volunteers — friends, neighbours, colleagues, faith groups, veterans, or community organisations.
2. Training & Ongoing Support Our partners provide full training, so your group feels confident and well prepared. This simple, practical training is offered before you begin and continues throughout the sponsorship journey.
3. Identify Suitable Housing With our guidance, your group helps find long-term accommodation. We then match an Afghan family of the appropriate size and ensure the property is suitable and affordable. Government funding is available for rent deposits and related costs.
4. Welcome & Support the Family Volunteers help the family register with schools, healthcare, benefits, and local services, while introducing them to the community and supporting them as they adjust to life in the UK.
5. Be the Local Point of Contact You act as the family’s trusted guide, helping them navigate the area, understand local systems, and access opportunities that only residents truly know.
6. Commit for Three Years Sponsor groups support the family for three years, providing consistency as they grow in independence, confidence, and resilience.

Fundraising Events Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to be part of a dedicated and friendly team of volunteers and make a real difference to the lives of cats and kittens in our care?  Do you enjoy planning and organising for events?  Maybe you have a particular skill that you would like to put to use?
 
Then this could be the role for you! 
 
Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats. 

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar. 

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Role Summary

The Financial Specialist supports Solution Community's financial infrastructure by maintaining accurate records, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring compliance across financial processes. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented finance professional who thrives in structured systems, values transparency, and wants to contribute to a mission-driven global organization.

You will report to and work closely with the CFO, Finance Team, and Operations to ensure financial accuracy, audit readiness, and efficient workflows that support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Recordkeeping

• Maintain accurate financial records, including A/P, A/R, reimbursements, and expense tracking.

• Support monthly reconciliations across accounts, digital tools, and financial platforms.

• Organize and maintain digital financial documentation for audit readiness.

Budgeting & Reporting Support

• Assist with preparing budget drafts, forecasts, and spending summaries.

• Contribute to monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and stakeholders.

• Track program and departmental spending to ensure alignment with approved budgets.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Support adherence to nonprofit financial regulations, internal policies, and documentation standards.

• Assist with grant reporting requirements and donor financial documentation.

• Help maintain internal controls, approval workflows, and financial governance practices.

Process Improvement & Systems Support

• Contribute to the development and refinement of financial procedures, templates, and tools.

• Support the implementation of financial systems that improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial processes integrate smoothly with operations.

Qualifications

Required

• 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or nonprofit financial operations.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Ability to work with financial tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, or similar platforms).

• Strong organizational skills and comfort working in a remote, digital environment.

• Integrity, confidentiality, and alignment with Solution Community’s mission and values.

Preferred

• Experience with nonprofit financial compliance (e.g., 501(c)(3) reporting, grant tracking).

• Familiarity with digital finance tools (e.g., Dext, Plooto, ApprovalMax, Expensify).

• Experience supporting audits, reconciliations, or financial clean-up projects.
