Job description

Help people find their place in the community.

At Time & Talents, we believe nobody should be left out or left behind. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, helping older people stay connected, supporting community activities, and making Bermondsey and Rotherhithe stronger, kinder places to live.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with people and wants to build a career in the charity sector. You might already be a volunteer yourself, have experience supporting others, or simply be passionate about bringing people together.

What you'll do

  • Recruit, welcome and support volunteers
  • Match people to meaningful volunteering opportunities
  • Keep volunteer records up to date using our volunteer management system (Volunteero)
  • Help organise training, events and volunteer recognition activities
  • Work with colleagues across Time & Talents to ensure volunteers have a great experience
  • Be a friendly and encouraging first point of contact for new volunteers

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Person-centred and people-focused
  • Organised and able to juggle multiple tasks
  • Comfortable using technology and databases
  • A great communicator
  • Positive, energetic and proactive
  • A team player who enjoys working with a wide range of people

What's in it for you?

  • A supportive team who genuinely care about people and communities
  • Opportunities to learn, develop and grow your career
  • The chance to make a real difference every day
  • Plenty of tea, laughter and community spirit

Whether you're taking your first step into the charity sector or looking for a role where you can see the impact of your work, we'd love to hear from you.

About Time & Talents

Time & Talents is a 140-year-old community charity rooted in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey. We believe everyone should feel part of a community. Through volunteering, community activities, befriending, support for older adults, children and families, and neighbourhood initiatives, we bring people together and tackle loneliness and isolation.

Demand for our services has increased significantly, and we are looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer Co-ordinator to help us grow, support and celebrate our volunteer community.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career in the charity sector. We are looking for potential as much as experience and will provide support, training and development to help you succeed.

Purpose of the Role

To support the recruitment, onboarding, coordination and development of volunteers across Time & Talents' programmes. Working alongside the Community & Volunteering Manager, you will help create an outstanding volunteer experience that enables local people to contribute their time, skills and talents to their community.

You will play a key role in implementing our new volunteer management system, Volunteero, improving volunteer processes and helping us recruit and retain a diverse and engaged volunteer workforce.

About us

We are an energetic, experienced, and passionate team of 15 mostly part-time workers with a strong sense of shared purpose and a lively sense of community. You’ll have the chance to make a big contribution to a strong and innovative organisation which has solidified its reach and impact in recent years.

This role is 3 days per week, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend working. Time & Talents is wholly committed to inclusion and diversity, and to building a culture and environment where everyone is appreciated for the unique person that they are. We actively encourage applications from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.

If you would like an informal chat about the job, please email recruitment @ timeandtalents .org .uk with your phone number and a suitable time for us to call.
