Fundraising Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and talented fundraising team

We are looking for an experienced Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly fundraising team. You will support the High Value Partnerships Manager and Community Fundraising Manager, both of which are already well-established income streams with lots of great potential. It’s a great opportunity to work across varied income streams including Corporate, Trusts & Grants, Community, Fundraising Events and Individual/Regular Giving.

Contract: Permanent
Hours:  37 hours per week (negotiable for the right candidate)
Flexibility: We are a flexible employer and most of our staff are juggling things (including caring for multiples!) We are great at making jobs work around life.
Salary: £24,000 - £27,000
Reports to: Community Fundraising Manager  
Work location: Hybrid/remote. Office space in London Bridge, although entirely remote option is fine. Travel to partner meetings/events will also be required.

Purpose of the role

• Reporting to the High Value Partnerships Manager you will provide support across our two priority Fundraising streams – Community Fundraising (Community, Events and Individual/Regular Giving) and High Value Partnerships (Trusts, Grants, Corporate and Sponsorship).
• Conducting prospect research (Corporate and Trusts/Grants) creating a pipeline of targeted opportunities, and submitting applications for lower level funding
• Providing excellent relationship management to those in our community who fundraise for us, whether that’s as a Regular Giver or Marathon runner
• Providing support to the Manager planning Fundraising Events, recruiting participants, attending and cheering on our fundraisers and thanking our supporters
• Accountable for delivering our annual raffle and ongoing Lottery programme

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience either in supporting the delivery of High Value partnerships or Community Fundraising. They will be able to demonstrate how they have researched partnerships and/or submitted funding applications, providing excellent stewardship and creating meaningful partnerships that lead to long term support for the charity.

About the Legacy Manager role:

The Public Fundraising team are responsible for recruiting and stewarding new supporters in order to secure long-term income and growth. The fundraising team has real ambition to grow and develop, and Legacy and  In-memory giving will form a key part of these plans.

You will lead on the development and implementation of a new Legacy & In Memoriam fundraising strategy that will

support our vision to grow income in this area. To do this you will be an ambitious, confident and experienced Legacy fundraiser with a passion for excellent customer experience and a natural collaborator. You will be

Knowledge

• Experience of developing and managing a mixed Legacy and In-Mem Marketing portfolio.

About the role

Working in close collaboration with the Senior Mass Fundraising Lead, the role will manage and deliver a variety of community-led fundraising initiatives and dynamic challenge events that engage supporters and generate vital unrestricted funds for children affected by neuroblastoma.

3. Matching gift requests with pledges from donors and preparing information on gift requests.  

4. Maintaining a live list of all requests for gifts from approx. 60 services and projects, and over 100 companies and community groups, updating as matches are made and requests are filled.   

5. Building positive relationships with corporate donors through written and verbal communications, including email, telephone and occasionally meetings/visits where appropriate.   

6. Co-ordinating deliveries of gifts from donors to projects, ensuring needs and requirements of both parties are met.   

7. Accurately creating and maintaining donor and donation records on Family Action’s Salesforce based CRM system.  

8. Assisting the Corporate Partnerships Manager and Fundraising Administrator with donation processing and administration.   

9. Stewarding Toy Appeal fundraisers, encouraging the use of fundraising platforms such as JustGiving, providing fundraising materials and sharing the impact of their fundraising.

10. Researching to find suppliers for gifts that need to be purchased using donated funds.   

11. Supporting the Marketing and Communications team by providing regular information and updates about the appeal.

The Marketing team underpins all of this by supporting our fundraising efforts with compelling ideas, content creation, design materials, social media, website management, and media opportunities.

How you will make a difference

We are looking for an experienced Philanthropy and Trust and Foundations fundraiser to join our passionate team. This exciting maternity cover role will oversee Trusts & Grants, Philanthropy and Prospect Research during a pivotal time of growth, ensuring each area continues to develop, scale and innovate to achieve lasting results in support of our ambitious 5-year fundraising strategy. 

The successful post-holder will be a proactive charity professional who can effectively nurture the Trusts & Grants team, supporting them to reach in-year and future targets and facilitating the continued growth of this area. The role will also comprise developing the Philanthropy stream, bringing exemplary relationship management and stewardship strategies to continue establishing the programme for long-term success. The post-holder will manage their own high-value portfolio of prospects across both areas in addition to supporting the work of their team. Working across the high-value function, Prospect Research also sits under this position, with a remit to support and facilitate collaboration and maximising all opportunities between Trusts, Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships.

As a senior leader you will take an active role in representing Philanthropy and Trusts externally and internally. You will work with stakeholders across the charities to understand and translate charitable initiatives into dynamic funding propositions, and build deep relationships with trusts, foundations and individual donors.

We are looking for a thoughtful, relational and data savvy Individual Giving and Philanthropy Lead to strengthen and grow our community of supporters. This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to take ownership of a key income stream, shape strategy and bring creativity and care to supporter relationships.

This is a hands-on and strategic role that blends relationship building, storytelling, data management and fundraising techniques. You’ll work closely with the CEO, trustees, the corporate partnerships lead and our communications lead to develop a supporter care programme that reflects our values, grows engagement and ultimately increases income. You will also begin to develop our major donor strategy, with support from senior leaders and existing networks. Due to funding for this post, you will split your time between raising funds for Pecan’s Southwark Foodbank, as well as Pecan’s other programmes and community services, and you will liaise closely with colleagues across both these areas.

You will need to be confident in working independently, but you will be backed by a supportive and engaged senior team who understand the importance of fundraising and want you to succeed.

Main Responsibilities:
Working with the CEO, trustees corporate partnerships and communications team, your main responsibilities will be:

• Individual Giving and Donors: develop, manage, monitor and improve the individual giving fundraising portfolio - with the initial aim of generating in excess of £250,000 per annum from individual giving. 
• Relationships with local churches and their congregations: work with the trustees and senior leadership team to deepen our relationships with out (cross denominational) member churches and to build links with additional churches in and near the area and local umbrella Christian organisations. 
• Relationships with local institutions: work with other local institutions such as schools and business to find individual donors who will financially support Pecan's work. .
• Fundraising Appeals: coordinate fundraising appeals including the Pecan and Foodbank Christmas fundraising campaign, Big Give Campaigns, and other appeals across all income and media streams.
• Fundraising Systems and Processes: Oversee our fundraising systems and processes using our new CRM (Beacon) to ensure data is accurate, GDPR compliant, segmented and usable for effective analysis, reporting and engagement. 

Key Requirements (specific skills, qualifications required):

• Proven experience in individual giving fundraising, including appeals and donor journeys.
• Experience managing and stewarding a portfolio of regular and one-off donors.
• Experience of using and maintaing a fundraising CRM (e.g. Beacon, Raiser's Edge, Donorfy, Salesforce), including data segmentation and analysis.
• Experience writing compelling donor communications (letters, emails, thankyous, updates). 

Desirable knowledge/expertise

• Exposure to, or experience with, major donor fundraising (e.g. researching prospects, supporting cultivation or stewardship).
• Understanding of Pecan's values and how they shape organisational culture.
• Knowledge of Peckham and the London Borough of Southwark.
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising or similar professional body.

You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment, and are motivated by the opportunities to help shape an organisation's future and make a real and positive difference to young people facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

This is a fundraising role that offers both creativity and structure, relationship-building and strategic thinking — perfect for someone who loves making things happen and wants their work to really matter. This is a remote role with the need to visit Flynne’s Barn’s Lake District centre on an occasional basis.

Flynne’s Barn is a charity supporting young people living with cancer. We offer residential stays in the Lake District, bringing young people with a shared experience of cancer together to build community. During a stay we offer a range of outdoor and creative activities. We aim to provide the space for young visitors to relax, find friendship and to build confidence in a safe, supportive context. We also provide an online/telephone counselling service for young people and their families.
