Job Description: CEO of WEN Wales

Location: Hybrid: home and Cardiff office

Working hours: Working hours: 37.5 hours per week  (currently 30 hours as part of our four-day week trial) Part-time and job share arrangements will be considered

Reporting to: the board via the Chair

Main objectives of role: 

• Deliver WEN Wales’ vision and strategy
• Act as lead spokesperson for the organisation

Main duties

Strategic direction and governance

• Work with the Chair and the board to set the strategy and ensure that the Charity fulfils its strategic priorities
• Support the board and its sub-committee to maintain good governance and ensure our policies are up to date and fit for purpose
• Provide the board with all necessary management information, including the Finance Administrator’s quarterly management accounts, quarterly progress reports, and risk register updates, to support good quality decision-making.
• Attend board meetings and board committees as required.

Operational and people

• Provide strong and empathetic leadership to the staff team and to volunteers, nurturing their talent and helping them achieve their objectives
• Live WEN’s organisational values (be relentless, responsible and kind), visibly demonstrated by your actions and behaviours
• Ensure all our GDPR and data management obligations are met
• Demonstrate sound financial management, ensuring records are kept accurately and up to date

The Fundraising Executive, Treks and Challenges will support the delivery and growth of Grief Encounter’s national and international challenge events programme. This includes recruiting and stewarding participants, managing logistics, and ensuring all events are delivered to a high standard.

A key part of the role is to help drive participant sign-ups for each challenge, ensuring that all available places are filled through proactive promotion and excellent supporter engagement.

Working as part of a dynamic fundraising team, this role is ideal for someone with experience in Treks and Challenges, events, fundraising or supporter engagement, and who is enthusiastic about helping others take on personal challenges to raise money for a meaningful cause.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the delivery of a range of UK and overseas challenge events including the London Marathon, Royal Parks Half, London to Brighton Cycle, Ultra Walks and international treks.

Help coordinate logistics with third-party providers and internal stakeholders.

Assist with registration and onboarding of participants, ensuring excellent stewardship.

Prepare and distribute fundraising packs and challenge materials.

Support event-day operations including attending challenge events where required.

Liaise with suppliers to organise merchandise, materials, and event assets.

Act as a main point of contact for challenge participants, offering guidance and motivation throughout their fundraising journey.

Help manage fundraising pages, track income and offer advice to maximise sponsorship.

Send timely and personalised communications to participants pre- and post-event.

Support the delivery of thank you processes and post-event engagement

Maintain accurate participant records using our CRM (E-tapestry).

Track fundraising totals and report on progress against targets.

Reconcile income and ensure donations are accurately processed and acknowledged.

Assist with compiling data and feedback for evaluation and future planning.

Work closely with other fundraising colleagues on integrated campaigns and initiatives.

Provide ad hoc support for other income streams (e.g. community events, corporate fundraisers and Grief Encounter events such as Gala dinners if needed).

Help contribute to the development of promotional materials and social content related to challenges.

Role Purpose

The main purposes of the Corporate Partnerships Officer role are:

• Managing the continually improving the digital systems to improve Tender’s monitoring and evaluation structures and procedures

About the opportunity
As Head of Impact & Quality, you’ll lead the department that covers impact measurement, evaluation of our programmes, data management, curriculum development, training and quality of tutors and other initiatives that drive the evidence-based culture of Action Tutoring. With a strong understanding of the charity's theory of change, you’ll strengthen existing impact and quality processes and make strategic recommendations that develop these further. You’ll play a vital role in helping the Senior Management Team balance quality and quantity with sustainable business decisions. As well as leading the department, you’ll build external networks and represent the charity externally at relevant events, in person and online. This role will support our transition from our in-house management platform to Salesforce.

The Opportunity

Our Membership Platform supports the College membership functions to make a difference to the lives of over 3.6 million children taught by our members. It is used to track, manage and support our members to access their benefits.

We are recruiting a Ruby Developer within the Service Operations team to manage our membership platform and provide support to users who access it. During the contract you will:

• Monitor and resolve any issues arising with the platform.
• Manage and maintain the platform so it remains operational. 
• Work closely with the Head of Data and Digital to successfully transform and move the current data and services to a new platform built on Salesforce.
• Support membership operations with reporting, payment and refund requests.

This would be an ideal opportunity to work on a project to move our data and processes from a Ruby platform to Salesforce which will move the College’s processes forward to ensure a strong future. In this role you will: 

• have autonomy for maintaining and managing our existing membership platform;
• work collaboratively with many of the team across the business, supporting recruitment and retention of our members; and
• help to grow the professional membership organisation for the teaching profession and be  part of the team driving the organisation forward at an exciting time for the future of the College.

Platform Management and Maintenance

Most of the time, you will be managing the membership platform, fixing any bugs, keeping the server up to date, ensuring stability, and providing reports to various stakeholders within the College.  You will also provide support to the membership team with refund requests through GoCardless and Stripe.

Data and Process Transition

You will spend some of your time working with the Head of Data and Digital to move all relevant membership data and processes over to Salesforce.  This will entail preparing data in the correct format and providing support to move automated processes over to the new system.

The Successful Applicant

• Significant background in leading cross-functional teams with a blend of clinical and operational responsibilities.
• Deep understanding of clinical governance, patient/donor safety, healthcare compliance, and donor management pathways.

Position: Executive Director, Giving, Volunteering and Voice

Location: Home-based. Frequent travel will be required

Main Responsibilities:

Overview

• Oversight and management of Pecan's financial planning, accounting, and reporting.
• Oversight and management of the organisations financial risk and compliance, and safeguarding of assets through effective processes and procedures.
• Oversight and management of performance and organisational data: its collection, storage, analysis and reporting. 

Finance

1. Advise and report to the Board, Chief Executive and SMT on all financial matters, including investments, reserves, financial forecasting and cashflow, financial performance and systems. 
2. Lead the financial planning for the organisation, including annual budgeting and re-forecasting as necessary and to prepare regular financial report, including management accounts, cashflow, and other reports as required by the Board, the SMT and budget holders. 
3. Provide financial information, advice and support, including training, which meets the needs of the Trustees, SMT and other staff within Pecan. In particular, work with service leads to provide all necessary financial budgeting input to funding bids and funding monitoring and reporting, ideally also upskilling the service leads in this area. 
4. Take responsibility for the day to day management and administration of the finance functions such as bank reconciliations, petty cash and donation records, accounts payables & receivables, VAT and gift aid claimed. 

Key Requirements (specific skills, qualifications required):

• Experience of working in a senior accounting role, including budget and financial policy formulation.
• A track record of preparing management accounts and other financial reports.
• Strong financial management skills and ability (including SORP).
• Entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen. 
• Strong commitment to the goals, ethos, values, and vision of Pecan, including a belief in the important of all people of different backgrounds working together and respecting and valuing each other’s contributions.

Desirable knowledge/expertise

• Strong experience in using Xero Accounting Software.
• Knowledge of charity law & VAT partial exemption.

• Work alongside colleagues at The Housing Network to support individuals and families (including individuals over 18’s, families, and prison leavers) as they move into temporary accommodation.
• Facilitate connections for beneficiaries within the local community in Leicester, helping them build support networks.
• Signpost beneficiaries to relevant external support agencies and services to address their diverse needs (e.g., health & wellbeing, training & life skills, employment, financial matters).
• Collaborate closely with on-the-ground partners, such as Community Shop in Leicester, to ensure integrated support.
• Collect and maintain accurate beneficiary data and records, ensuring compliance and contributing to outcome reporting.
• Actively support the charity's social media presence and engagement.
• Play a key role in fundraising activities, demonstrating a proactive approach and a proven track record of successful fundraising initiatives.
