Job description

The Lord Mayor’s Appeal aims to have a transformational impact on people’s lives by bringing together businesses, neighbouring communities, employees and charities to find solutions to some of London’s most pressing societal issues. Our vision is to create A Better City for All, that is Inclusive, Healthy, Skilled and Fair, helping 1 million people thrive.

We do this by delivering programmes under our four key strategy areas; Inclusive, Healthy, Skilled and Fair, and through supporting inspirational charities who are delivering innovative solutions in these areas.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Programme Officer to join our small but ambitious team to support the Senior Programme Manager and Programme Managers to develop and deliver our Inclusive, Healthy and Skilled programmes, making a sustainable impact to the City of London, its’ employees and neighbouring communities.

Role Purpose

The Lord Mayor’s Appeal delivers programmes to address each our four key strategic aims. This role will be responsible for working seamlessly across each programme to support the delivery of a range of projects.

This is an opportunity to develop programme support and management skills, as well as an develop subject matter knowledge on mental health, diversity & inclusion and skills for young people.

Healthy Pillar (50%)

Our Healthy Pillar work focuses on supporting organisations to end the stigma around mental health in the workplace to improve employee wellbeing and is delivered through our award-winning programme, This is Me.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of This is Me in London, the North West, Scotland, the West Midlands and internationally, working with the Senior Programme Manager and regional Steering Groups.  

Inclusive Pillar (40%)

Our current two-year strategy for our Inclusive Pillar aims to raise awareness and inspire action on Social Mobility in the City. This strategy is delivered through 3 projects; our Power of Inclusion seminar series, an innovative film and storytelling campaign, and the development of a best practice toolkit.

The Programme Officer will provide project and communications support to the Programme Manager for all three projects and will be responsible for ensuring excellent relationships are built and maintained with key stakeholders.  

Skilled Pillar (10%)

Our Skilled pillar work aims to empower young women to make informed decisions about their careers - framing the City as not only a viable, but an exciting option for them, and is delivered through our She Can Be… programme.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for providing project support and providing excellent relationship support to our school and corporate partners.
