We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individuals to join our fundraising team as a Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer. In this role, you will play a vital role in researching and applying to grant applications in order to help the team raise as much funding as possible to support people experiencing homelessness across London.
About the role:
As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer, you will be responsible for maximising income from Trusts and Foundations in order to support SHP’s charitable activities. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and alongside the fundraising team, you will contribute towards the delivery of achieving SHP's overarching vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.
In your role, you will be responsible for building and delivering a successful Trusts and Foundations portfolio by focusing on:
- Maximising income from grant-giving organisations to ensure sustainable growth of restricted and unrestricted fundraising.
- Working strategically to build high-impact, high-value relationships with grant funders as well as managing relationships with existing donors.
- Collaborating with teams across the organisation to create compelling fundraising proposals and produce high-quality reports and budgets.
- Proactively maintaining excellent knowledge of Trusts and Statutory fundraising practices in the sector.
Please note the role will follow a hybrid working model, with some days working in our head office in Kings Cross, with ample opportunity to work from home.
About you:
- Highly numerate and attentive to detail, with strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Entrepreneurial, results-driven and able to work on own initiative and also as part of a team, meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Experience of writing bids or applications including any key successes.
- Experience working with other internal departments to maximise collaboration and impact between the teams.
- Experience building and managing relationships with external funders, including in depth research of funders.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller and working closely with the CEO, this role will lead the financial management and internal controls for the Regional and Country offices and shared service processes and transactions. Part of the Communications and Engagement department, the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our policy priorities across the four UK nations. Working with colleagues, members and external stakeholders, you will deliver high quality analysis and research, produce evidence-based policy positions and outputs, and employ effective public affairs approaches to influence change on behalf of our members.
Main responsibilities
Strategic planning and reporting
- Contribute to developing, implementing and evaluating policy and public affairs (PPA) strategies, campaigns and plans aligned to member priorities and our wider strategic aims.

Person specification
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
- University degree or professional qualification in a relevant field such as public policy, political science, public health or similar
- At least three years’ experience of working in a policy, public affairs or advocacy role, preferably within the healthcare sector or a membership organisation
- Experience of devising developing, implementing and evaluating policy/public affairs strategies and/or campaigns
- Experience managing projects and initiatives from conception to implementation
- Experience of conducting policy-relevant research and developing evidence-based policy positions and consultation responses
- Experience of drafting high-quality, accessible briefings, reports, and other written materials for diverse audiences, including policymakers, healthcare professionals, and the public
- Experience of engaging with government agencies, policymakers, and other stakeholders to influence policy outcomes
- Working knowledge of IT systems – including Microsoft Office and CRMs

- Strong strategic planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and nuanced points clearly and persuasively

Chief Executive Officer, Remote, 35 hrs Salary £90,097
GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.
This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.
A great deal has been done to prepare the organisation for such an important time and so now there is a real opportunity for this role to lead in being a figurehead for the charity and representing all that is achieved at GFS in national events and discussions, to best represent the girls of today.
Our new strategy is built around pillars of Impact, Brand and Sustainability with an ambition to grow in delivery as well as reputation. GFS is aware that the work done to listen to and amplify girls’ voices is important because they have so much to say about what needs to change and from a very young age. This role will be key to making this happen.
