An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on World Cancer Research Fund International’s Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global). CUP Global (previously known as CUP) is a unique, long-standing, and rigorous research programme that systematically gathers, analyses, and judges the strength of the global evidence on how diet, nutrition, physical activity and body weight affect cancer risk and survival. This work led to the publication of the authoritative Third Expert Report in 2018, which now needs updating in places to remain relevant and impactful. 

As Senior Research Interpretation Officer, you will be a valuable member of the Research Interpretation team and the CUP Global scientific Secretariat. Your core work will be supporting the management of CUP Global on a day-to-day basis to help deliver its main objective of updating the Third Expert Report. You will provide scientific input, administrative support, and help coordinate specific work areas of CUP Global.

We are looking to recruit someone who has a Masters degree in public health sciences, particularly nutrition and/or cancer research, and with a good understanding of epidemiological concepts. We are seeking someone with experience of writing scientifically, copywriting, editing and proofreading, with good attention to detail and with experience of reviewing and interpreting scientific research/literature. We require someone who can co-ordinate and manage projects, who can produce concise, well-constructed, written communications with the ability to present orally to various audiences in a clear and persuasive manner, and who can provide administrative support, including taking meeting minutes and writing professional emails. 

This is a permanent role within the Science and Policy Department at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International. WCRF International is a not-for-profit organisation that leads and unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe, the Americas and Asia and is responsible for cancer prevention science, policy, strategic and operational direction to the network charities.

•Manage and grow a Trusts and Foundations portfolio at MAP to secure income from active and cold audiences, focusing on donors giving up to £25,000 per annum. 

•Identify new channels to grow income from Trusts and Foundations outside of the charity’s existing networks.

•Develop and deliver tailored proposals, sit reps, and stewardship plans, proactively improving knowledge capture and MAP’s understanding of supporters.

•Work with the Prospect Researcher to identify, research, and cultivate leads to build a strong pipeline of Trusts and Foundations prospects that will have a significant, positive impact on income.

•Develop and implement a range of cultivation tools and conduct the necessary analysis to track progress against key performance indicators.

European Movement UK has a significant internal governance structure comprised of a Board of 20 people (meets online 8 times per year), a National Council of approx. 100 members (meets online 6 times per year) and four standing committees (meeting frequency varies). The Governance Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the proper function of these bodies.

Key responsibilities - Governance

• Governance admin, including: managing the governance calendar, arranging meetings, sending emails to the Board and the Council, chasing reports and papers to be submitted on time, document management.

Our approach to hybrid working

We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.

We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We’re looking for a part-time Grants and Trusts Officer (2.5 days a week). Office or home based, they will be a vital member of our fundraising team, working closely with programme staff and the CEO to continue to grow grant funding for our work – shaping funding bids, managing grants and reporting, and building relationships with funders and funding networks. 

Purpose of role:

Increasing and diversifying the sources of grant funding for A Rocha UK’s work is key to our fundraising strategy. The Grants and Trusts Officer will play a key role identifying, securing, and managing grants from a range of sources, including small trusts, large foundations, and Church denominations. In doing so, they will work closely with programme staff , CEO and Finance Director to develop funding bids, and coordinate closely with other members of the fundraising team, such as the Major Donor Officer. They will also manage occasional legacies. The successful candidate will have previous experience securing funds from trusts, as well as excellent writing skills, an interest in the environment and an active Christian faith.

About the Degrees Initiative  

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions.  

Degrees’ programmatic work is centred on capacity-building through research grants and North–South and South-South collaboration schemes, outreach activities, and cross-cutting community-building. As part of this, Degrees runs workshops in the Global South that bring new voices into the SRM conversation, and our research funds support scientists and other experts in developing countries as they research what SRM could mean for their regions and become part of a global research community.

You will have experience of coordinating marketing and communications activity, ideally in a visitor-facing venue. 

You will have oversight of the website, social media platforms, e-newsletter and audience research programme and will support with press enquiries, PR and content development. CAFOD’s mission in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and equip Catholics to actively engage in the Church’s efforts to overcome poverty and injustice. Our regional teams focus on recruiting and supporting a dedicated group of volunteers within parish and school communities, empowering them to educate, engage, and inspire others to act in solidarity for the common good. Regional teams also collaborate with clergy and other representatives across the Catholic community to ensure CAFOD’s volunteer programme is aligned with faith life.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative and communications support to the Community Participation Coordinators across England and Wales, with a focus on the West & Wales region as the first point of contact. This includes coordinating administrative tasks performed by office volunteers and identifying opportunities for process improvements. The role also involves volunteer recruitment administration, overseeing and training Office Volunteers, and ensuring effective database management.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK including our head office in London, working from home, from one of CAFOD’s Volunteer Centres, or a combination of both. The role requires occasional travel to London and other areas within the East & West side of the country. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, and time off in lieu will be granted for travel beyond normal working hours.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) and reports to the Volunteer Support and Development Coordinator.

The post holder will play a key role in driving smooth, efficient operations across CAFOD’s West & Wales region. As the go-to person for admin excellence and volunteer support, you’ll work closely with your line manager and colleagues in the East to streamline processes, improve systems, and keep everything running like clockwork.
