The Queen’s Reading Room is the charity founded by Her Majesty Queen Camilla in 2023. We believe that books make us happier, healthier and better connected, having a strong positive impact on our mental health, brain health and social connectedness. We’re on a mission to get more people reading more, for all the transformative benefits of books.
Our work is in three areas: neuroscientific study to understand the lifelong benefits of regular reading; the production of accessible content and events; and grassroots work to help shelters and refuges access books and shared reading groups, in partnership with organisations like St Mungo’s, The Elm Foundation and Reading for Wellbeing.
Our audience is predominantly digital, reaching 12 million people annually in 183 countries. We’re concerned that the UK is currently facing a reading crisis, with children’s reading rates the lowest on record and 1 in 2 adults not having read nor listened to a single book last year. We’re working hard to change that.
About the Role
The Queen’s Reading Room is funded entirely by grants, donations, sponsorship and income from events. We’re looking for a vibrant and well-connected individual to join the small but agile team, to lead this function within the charity and design and set up a fundraising committee. You will build on a strong base of income generation and work to sustain and expand it.
You will be responsible for building the fundraising strategy with the charity’s CEO and Board of Trustees; for identifying appropriate opportunities to generate funding in the UK and internationally; and for the targets agreed by the CEO and board. You will be comfortable with, and have experience in, the world of high profile and high net-worth individuals, legacy fundraising, fundraising and friendraising events. You will know how to build relationships with individual donor prospects along with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders. You will attend networking events and meetings with potential donors.
Your role will include devising and creating fundraising events; securing sponsorship for events and festivals; contributing to the writing and submitting of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations; and advising and providing suitable copy for fundraising marketing and digital materials. You will work with the team to create case studies and grant reports, sharing and telling great stories to supporters to ensure that they understand the difference that their donations make and with a view to securing repeat support.
You’ll create new relationships by preparing and delivering pitches, talks and presentations and prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.
You will join as a key member of the organisation, alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of MarComms, Head of Talent, Head of Production and Team Researcher.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of significant and sustained income generation. You’ll have a track record of managing and developing relationships with individual donors and be committed to building good internal and external relationships. You will have experience of performing due diligence and have a careful and considered approach to fundraising. Your knowledge of the fundraising market will be excellent. You will understand the complexity of the charity landscape and the sensitivities of the role. You will understand the need for confidentiality to be paramount.
Strong writing and presentation skills are essential.
There will be a lot going on at once, so we’ll be looking for someone who is flexible with changing priorities and who has excellent administrative, IT, organisational and planning skills. You’ll be able to prioritise your workload, manage administration and be able to work independently. You will be an excellent team player but be able to take responsibility for your own work stream.

Role Overview: Fundraising and Operations Director
The successful candidate will lead RLS’s income generation through our next phase of development. You’ll oversee our relationships with key funders, individual giving, our approach to major donors and our communications. You’ll work closely with the Management Team and trustees to set and implement fundraising strategy and highlight and manage risk.
As a member of the Management Team, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day leadership and oversight of the organisation, with involvement in decisions from strategy to HR, project design and many other aspects of our work.
Core Responsibilities:
Fundraising strategy and development
- Lead the development and delivery of RLS’s fundraising strategy to meet our funding targets and deliver our strategy.
- Meaningfully involve and guide the Management Team, trustees and Fundraising Officer in strategy development and delivery.
- Develop new funding sources as appropriate.
- Ensure that funding sources fit with RLS’s values and our moral and ethical fundraising policy.
Organisational leadership
- Work with the Management Team and trustees to lead on the delivery of RLS’s strategic objectives.
- Work with the Management Team to lead RLS, including finding creative solutions to issues as they arise and ensuring the smooth running of the organisation.

Lead on funder relationships

- Ensure that the Management Team and board have an accurate picture of RLS’s financial position, including a clear picture of risk.

Representing RLS and occasional travel
- Represent RLS at events from time to time.
- Occasional travel, potentially including international travel.
Line management
- Provide high quality line management to the Fundraising Officer.
- In future, there may be other line management responsibilities as RLS’s staff changes to meet our new strategy.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Senior leadership experience in income generation
- Proven success in securing significant, multi-source funding, including trusts and foundations.

The Role
As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of LTM, ensuring robust financial management, governance, and performance. This is a pivotal role on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting directly to the Director and attending all Board meetings. You will also deputise for the Director when required.
This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership. You will be a moderniser—driving transformation, leading negotiations, overseeing broader business support functions, and contribute to LTM50, including capital programme oversight. You will be the face of financial and business systems at LTM, helping to deliver a future-fit museum aligned with our strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of LTM’s overall budget, ensuring financial sustainability across short, medium, and long-term goals
- Oversee all aspects of financial control, governance, reporting, and compliance with statutory, charity, and TfL requirements
- Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Lead business support functions and liaise with TfL departments including HR, Procurement, Reward, Tech and Data and Finance
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Board of Trustees, SLT, and wider teams
- Represent LTM in financial negotiations with external partners and suppliers
- Champion a high-performing, inclusive finance team—setting clear goals, recognising success, and modelling LTM’s values

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with a proven track record in senior finance leadership roles within complex organisations, and will be able to demonstrate:

- Broad operational knowledge including digital transformation, estates, and HR;

Main Purpose of the Role

Role Overview
The Director of Development at the Foundling Museum will lead the Museum’s fundraising strategy, driving income generation to support its mission and programmes. This senior leadership role oversees all aspects of fundraising, including corporate sponsorship, individual giving, trusts and foundations, membership schemes, philanthropic campaigns and communications.
The Director of Development works closely with the Museum's Director (CEO & Artistic Director), Trustees and key stakeholders to cultivate relationships with high-value donors, build strategic partnerships and secure sustainable financial support. As part of the Senior Management Team, this new role will work in collaboration with the Director of Finance (PT) and Director of Commercial and Operations (FT).
Reporting directly to the Museum Director, the role involves managing a small development team (2FTE) and communications team, setting ambitious targets and achieving actual income goals, ensuring alignment with the Museum’s values and strategic priorities.
The Director of Development will play a critical role in shaping the Museum’s long-term financial resilience, leveraging the Museum’s reputation and impact to inspire and engage supporters from diverse sectors.
Key duties
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising, membership and partnership strategy to support the Museum’s short and long-term goals
- Work closely with senior leadership and the Board to align fundraising priorities with the Museum’s mission and strategic objectives

- Lead efforts to secure major gifts and corporate sponsorships, with a particular focus on individuals, trust and foundations, and corporates

- Identify, cultivate and secure new high-value donors of all types, including individuals, corporate partners, trusts and foundations and statutory funders
- Develop strong professional relationships with the Museum’s existing donors in a warm and personal atmosphere and in alignment with the Museum’s values

Person Specification
Experience (required)
- Proven leadership, ideally at least 5 years, in a similar role where philanthropic and grant income is central to the success of the organisation
- Extensive experience of shaping and implementing fundraising strategies that have delivered a step change increase in actual income
- A substantial fundraising track record in securing income from diverse constituencies and across funding types, including personal experience in securing major gifts and managing teams to do the same
- A demonstrable history of innovation and entrepreneurial approaches to identifying income generation opportunities and pushing organisations forward to increase income
- Proven experience of nurturing long and short-term funding opportunities and being the key point of contact for both
- Significant team leadership experience of creating, leading, inspiring and motivating a high performing team and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders

Conditions of Work and Benefits

UNHCR’s work has never been more important – by the end of 2024, a record 122.6 million people were displaced, with children accounting for 40% of all forcibly displaced people
UK for UNHCR (UK4U) builds solidarity and raises funds in the UK for refugees worldwide - last year UK4U raised a total income of £25.5 million and continues to build on strong foundations since its beginnings in 2019.
The charity is now seeking a Director of Individual Giving in a new and exciting opportunity to explore how UK4U can expand on these foundations, with a focus on increasing the sustainability of the donor base and maximising lifetime value, as well as identifying opportunities for transformational income growth.
The role will be responsible for leading a team of 12 people and strategic leadership for all fundraising from the UK public, including mid-value and legacy supporters, and covering both digital and offline channels. At Impetus we are looking for our next Director of Public Affairs, someone who can inspire our brilliant Public Affairs team and spearhead our communications, policy and research work. This is an exciting senior role, joining our Senior Management Team and working alongside our CEO, board, donors, supporters, portfolio partners and the wider sector to effect real change for young people.
This is an exciting time to join Impetus. We are at an inflexion point, having welcomed a new CEO this year and implementing a new strategy focusing on strengthening and expanding our impact and influence. A big part of that is through our public affairs and communications work; whether influencing policy makers so that all young people regardless of background get the best possible chance to succeed, reducing the gaps in education and employment between young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and their better off peers, or working with government and other funders to prove and expand impactful programmes or communicating our findings, insights and message to a wider range of audiences.
The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising and income generation
- Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
- Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
- Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
- Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
- Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
- Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
- Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.
- Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
- Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
- Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
- Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.
- Contribute to the successful performance of the Senior Management Team, and provide expert advice to them, as well as to Trustees, on all public affairs-related activities and in the implementation of the broader strategy, engaging with decisions and challenges across the organisation.
- Oversee the running of our Public Affairs Committee (PAC), leveraging their skills, expertise and influence for the good of Impetus.

Strong track record of influencing (through policy, advocacy, communications, stakeholder relations) - Strong management skills including strategy development, people management, budgeting and impact monitoring

- Experience of representing an organisation externally; in meetings, media interviews and on public platforms
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Presence, credibility, motivational skills, natural ability to command respect based on experience, and ability to look beyond own area of expertise
- Proven experience of building and maintaining influential external relationships and strategic partnerships
- Ability to motivate a team and work collaboratively, enlisting support from others
- Knowledge of the education and/ or young people sectors
Desirable:
- Experience of fundraising, including trusts and foundations
- Knowledge of digital communications
- Experience of data management and good analytical skills
- Understanding of, and/or lived experience of, the barriers that young people face, that contribute to the education and employment gap
- Knowledge of venture philanthropy / impact management
- Knowledge of private equity and associated industries
