At the Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB), we are on a mission to place ethics at the centre of decisions regarding biomedicine and health so that we all benefit. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and organised communications all-rounder to support our communication and engagement activities and assist in our mission to ‘Make Ethics Matter’.
The Communications and Engagement Officer role combines work on events, communications, stakeholder management and public affairs, all seeking to build audience engagement and increase the profile and influence of the NCOB.
This is an important role within our Executive team, working across our priority areas and workstreams, with range of stakeholders, and utilising a variety of channels including in-person and online events, website, email, social media and traditional media.
The Communications and Engagement Officer reports to the Senior Communications Manager and works closely with them across all communications functions. This post will have responsibility for updating our website, running our social media channels, producing internal and external newsletters and championing and maintaining our brand identity. The post holder will also help to deliver our media relations and policy influencing activities, playing an active role in delivering media campaigns and in supporting our Parliamentary and Government engagement through working closely with the Public Affairs Manager.
We are looking for someone with experience across the communications and engagement mix, including in events and internal communications, stakeholder management and digital and social media content creation. Our work focuses on research and policy in biomedicine, health and life sciences, and while you don’t need to be an expert in those areas, you should have an enthusiasm to develop knowledge of them and the ability to quickly get to grips with the landscape in which the NCOB operates, our strategy and our target audiences.
You will enjoy working in a team environment and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, ranging from subject specialists and academics to policy makers, journalists and members of the public. We are seeking someone who can think creatively about communicating complex and technical research and can work independently on a range of projects. You will be highly organised, with good project management skills and the ability to prioritise and work across several projects at once.
You will have a creative mind, strong news sense and ability to tailor communications to the appropriate audience. You will be able to turn your hand to writing newsletter copy, stakeholder emails, social posts and event materials / briefings to a high standard. You will be able to distil key messages from our outputs and use them to create content for a range of communication channels and audiences.
Ideally, you will have some experience of managing both online and face-to-face events. You will be confident working with audio visual equipment and systems and have experience of using data for analysis, reporting and evaluation.
Stakeholder engagement is a big part of the role, so you will need some knowledge and experience of using databases/CRM systems to manage and report on stakeholder communications.

Go Beyond has given over 21,000 vulnerable children life-changing residential breaks since 1994. Young carers who spend their days looking after parents. Children living in poverty for whom a school holiday means hunger, not adventure. Kids who've been bullied or bereaved and need a week away from their ordinary life.
The charity is entirely self-funded. £1.8 million a year, every penny raised by supporters. No government money. Which means the work this fundraising team does is directly and specifically what makes those breaks possible.

Go Beyond's flagship campaign, Ice Cream Moments, launches this summer — backed by Louis Theroux, James Acaster, David Gower and Jenny Agutter. The trustees want to go viral. A legacy programme is built and ready to launch. An alumni programme connecting with 21,000+ former beneficiaries is research-complete and waiting for someone to open the door. And a loyal supporter base of 200–300 regular givers — many of whom have been giving for over a decade — is generating £90,000 a year with almost no stewardship behind it.

The Supporter Engagement & Fundraising Communications Manager will own the supporter communications function end to end. This is a project management and strategy role — not an execution role. You will provide strategic leadership, represent the organisation both internally and externally, and be responsible for driving the commercial performance of the practice, ensuring that ImpactEd Consulting is positioned well as first port of call for schools and social purpose organisations who want to achieve greater impact and sustainability. You will lead a number of sales and marketing campaigns, develop key propositions for our partners, provide high level guidance and advice, scan and respond to relevant tenders and work closely with a team of consultants to ensure we are able to continue to bring accessible expertise to our work and partners.
The role would be ideal for a proven leader with deep understanding and networks across the education sector, a track record in consulting and business development, and the ambition to shape the direction of a growing social enterprise.
About you
As a team focused on research and evaluation, we would also expect roles at this level to demonstrate:

Partnership management: Modelling of excellence in partnership management, particularly on proactive driving of partnerships forward, scope management and stakeholder engagement.
Sales and scope design: Leadership of business development for consultancy engagements to support high-complexity partnerships and support our partners to deliver against their knottiest challenges.
Proposition development: Understanding of our sector and ability to combine that with our offers as a practice to create propositions that can drive partnership and business development opportunities.
Reporting and improvement: Ability to listen to and synthesise partner needs to tailor advice and guidance, quality assure others' outputs, and help partners take action off the back of our work.
Our Head Office is in London, and we have satellite offices in Leeds and Lincolnshire, but our team work from across the country; we are happy to support remote, hybrid or office-based working. For this role we anticipate there to be weekly attendance in London, ad-hoc attendance at sector events and three in-person offsites per year

Expected earnings of £75,056-£92,720 (base salary: £63,023-£70,400) with opportunities for performance related pay and annual profit share, dependent on company performance

Addiction Family Support is the leading UK-registered charity supporting adults affected or bereaved by a loved one's harmful use of alcohol, drugs, or gambling.
The role: Family Support Worker (Bereavement)
As a Family Support Worker at Addiction Family Support, you will be responsible for delivering a range of services to provide crucial emotional and practical assistance to individuals bereaved (and affected) by the loss of a loved one due to addiction. Through both individual and group support, you will offer a compassionate and understanding presence, helping people navigate grief and loss in a safe and supportive environment.
Our service delivery takes place via several methods, including taking calls on our telephone Helpline, responding to emails through our email service and delivering remote 5-Step Method informed intervention to individuals and groups via an online platform.
Working patterns are flexible and you may be expected to work on a rota basis, and we would hope to be able to offer more hours per week in time when funding allows it.
You will need to be confident in your ability to provide support via a variety of remote and digital platforms, being able to respond to immediate requests for support. You will be an active and involved member of our team and contribute to all aspects of our work to help us achieve our strategic goals and work towards achieving our vision.
