Managing a team of five across fundraising, communications, special projects and data management, the successful applicant will lead the development of partnerships and campaigns to raise funds for Dementia Adventure’s unique work to support people with dementia and their carers to have a more active and fulfilled life by getting outdoors and experiencing the benefits of nature.
You will provide strategic leadership and direction for income generation through various fundraising disciplines and joint fundraising partnerships, ensuring the charity's diversification of funding and financial sustainability. Funding sources include major grantmakers, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, challenge events, and an individual giving campaign.
Hand in hand with leading fundraising, you will oversee the Communications team, supporting, developing and monitoring the communications strategy, associated budget, resources, systems, processes and operations. This will involve overseeing and directing a communications plan that promotes the work of Dementia Adventure to a broad range of audiences through various channels and campaigns, while also increasing online and social media presence.
Ideally, we would like the successful applicant to be able to come to the office in Essex at least once a week.
About you
We are looking for someone to join the charity’s Senior Leadership Team who will bring experience from their past successes and provide inspirational strategic leadership and direction to the fundraising and communications functions in support of the Dementia Adventure business plan, charitable mission and objectives. The successful applicant will have a strong, successful track record of fundraising and/or other forms of income generation in the charity sector, including management, with proven experience in meeting financial and non-financial targets. You should be able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trusts and grant givers, corporates, major donors and other individuals. In addition, you should possess a strong understanding of marketing and communication principles and practices, as well as digital marketing and social media. You should also be confident in engaging audiences sensitively with real-life stories to demonstrate impact and create a compelling case for support.

We are delighted to be working exclusively with a well-known charity, who are seeking a Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager. This exciting opportunity begins in September on a 12-week contract, making it ideal for someone finishing a contract in August or looking to start a new role after the summer break. There is also the potential for this position to become permanent following the initial contract period.
This role is crucial in supporting the strategic direction and operational plans for individual giving programmes, including appeals, regular giving, and legacies, with the aim of maximising net income from both new and existing streams. Key responsibilities:

Create KPIs and income targets, measuring and reporting on progress against the Individual Giving and Legacy strategy, making data-driven decisions.

Develop and implement a multi-year legacy strategy to build a strong legacy pipeline, consistently meeting or exceeding annual income targets.

Develop and manage new Retention and Acquisition initiatives.

About the Role
As Supporter Acquisition Manager, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end delivery of direct marketing campaigns focused on recruiting new donors. Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, you will be required to attend the Hatfield office once a week and monthly directorate meetings. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

As part of our mission to promote and protect hospice care for all, it is critical that our communications team keeps it high on the agenda. We’ve built huge momentum – whether with regular national TV news coverage, a rapidly growing online supporter base, or though our recently overhauled brand. But we need a savvy, politically switched-on Head of Communications and Campaigns to keep that going, and to make it pay off.
Hospices are amongst our most loved community charities, and our job as the national charity for hospice care is to rally the public – as well as major donors like companies and trusts – to support these brilliant organisations.
You’ll need a strong eye for a story, and an integrated understanding of the full spectrum of communications, campaigns and marketing. You’ll likely be a specialist in one area – which is fine – but we want someone who can join the dots, spot the opportunities, and inspire a team of specialists.

Leukaemia UK and You
We have recently invested in growing our fundraising team so that we can fund more life-changing research to increase our understanding of leukemia as a disease, and accelerate the development of kinder, more effective treatments. This includes investment to grow the public fundraising team, develop new fundraising products, recruit new supporters, and increase legacy giving through targeted campaigns.
We are also in the process of developing our new 5-year fundraising strategy, so you will be instrumental in creating an ambitious new plan to develop a diverse and sustainable mass fundraising portfolio, covering the key areas of donor acquisition, retention, and growth, with a focus on maximising our Challenge and Community events portfolio, and increasing Legacy, In Memory and Regular giving. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of products to grow voluntary income, whilst leading a newly expanded and ambitious team. Requirements - Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience of strategic leadership and oversight of a mass fundraising product portfolio.
- Proven experience of managing an engaging Community and Challenge Events fundraising portfolio.
- Proven experience of driving Legacy and In Memory giving to create a robust long-term pipeline. Experience of successfully developing and implementing legacy marketing strategies.

This is a time-limited opportunity to contribute to the delivery and evaluation of one of Greater Manchester’s most ambitious adult social care transformation programmes: the Accelerating Reform Fund (ARF). In GM, our projects focus on improving the identification and support for unpaid carers through the hospital discharge pathway and improving community-based care arrangements via Shared Lives schemes.
As Senior Project Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining delivery momentum, nurturing established relationships, and supporting the system-wide monitoring and evaluation of the programme. You’ll bring excellent coordination, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation skills, ensuring that business as usual continues smoothly and that Gaddum plays its full role in enabling the GM system to capture and evidence the impact of the ARF.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) provides expert oversight and support across the ARF projects, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective delivery. As per their job title, they project manage the infrastructure element of the entire GM programme.
They coordinate efforts across various sectors, manage stakeholder engagement, and are responsible for the integrated approach to risk management, data governance, and financial oversight. The role is accountable to Gaddum’s CEO, and reports to them. It has been central in ensuring the successful execution of GM's vision and objectives for the ARF.
Key Responsibilities
Continued and Strong Programme Delivery
• Maintain oversight and coordination of ARF activities on behalf of Gaddum, ensuring that timelines, risks, and communications are effectively managed.
• Chair or coordinate relevant meetings, workshops, and learning sessions with partners across health, social care, VCSE, and lived experience networks.
• Support the continuation of established coproduction approaches and ensure that lived experience remains central to the delivery of the programme.
• Maintain key project documentation including risk registers, action logs, and shared work plans.
• Provide line management to the Project Administrator, ensuring effective consortium secretariat and communication functions are upheld.

Evaluation and Impact
• Lead, as the Greater Manchester system infrastructure, the development and delivery of an end-of-programme learning and evaluation event, currently planned for March – April 2026.
