Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

Plan International has developed a systematic approach to integrating Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation into our Country Strategies and promoting a resilience approach to our programmes. Our ambition is to continue to grow the DRM portfolio in this area.
As an organisation we place great importance on contributing to the work and collective learning, strengthened coordination and quality of work in the sector and increasingly take on inter-agency leadership roles within our areas of expertise at a country and global level.

WASTEAID – PARTNERSHIPS AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
About WasteAid
The Challenge
90% of waste in low-income countries is openly dumped or burned, posing a threat to both people and planet.
The Vision
Our vision is a world in which waste causes no harm, and where people in poverty are empowered to recover its value.
At WasteAid, we work with communities and policy makers in low and middle-income countries to implement waste management and recycling programmes. Our work improves the livelihoods of some of the poorest and most marginalised, promotes circular economy innovation and contributes to a cleaner and healthier future for all.
Waste management is an often neglected element of the international development agenda yet the consequences of poor waste management are severe, affecting both people and planet. Health consequences include increased respiratory illnesses due to burning waste, higher levels of insect borne illnesses due to open dumping, greater prevalence of gastro-intestinal problems and other illnesses due to blocked and polluted waterways. In the era of COVID 19, effective disposal of face masks and of potentially contaminated materials adds an extra layer of complexity for countries already struggling to dispose of their waste safely. It is the poorest that bear the heaviest disease burden and for those living in extreme poverty, this can lead to increased mortality. The environmental consequences of poor waste management are no less severe, burning waste contributes to the climate crisis through greenhouse gases, contaminated soil and waterways put ecosystems at risk and the dirt and odour from unmanaged waste degrades the general environment.
What we do
We work with the most vulnerable and marginalised in target communities to provide waste management and recycling training and livelihood opportunities.
We support innovation and deliver appropriate systems for first-step resource management to maximise recovery and reuse of waste materials
We foster sustainable social enterprises, social programmes with private sector companies, and local and global networks.
We undertake evidence-based advocacy to create an enabling environment for safe, sustainable waste management.
WasteAid is currently active in 8 countries throughout Africa and Asia.

To be successful you will have a proven experience in income generation with good influencing skills, the confidence to implement and develop fundraising strategies, be able to demonstrate excellent stewardship, have a successful track record of building successful relationships and having a collaborative nature.
As Partnerships and Engagement Manager you will be responsible for managing key business partnerships, maximising all potential income streams and seeking new opportunities to work with corporates, trusts and foundations and further develop individual giving. You will devise creative and innovative business development strategies including, fundraising campaigns with partners, liaising with corporate contacts and building and developing relationships with key stakeholders. - Prepare contractual agreements and ensure that these are fully adhered to.
- Develop detailed, tailored plans that maximise income in the short term and secure long-term growth
