The postholder will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the efficient and effective running of a fundraising and marketing team dealing directly with donors at all levels to ensure they have the best donor experience. We need someone to help us to reach new people online, drive income and build an enhanced online supporter experience.

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

· The ability to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans, present budgets and interpret financial information

This role will require the successful candidate to support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

Role Requirements

 You will attend the Audit & Risk Committee and other board committees from time to time to present on risk and assurance.  With experience of delivering 2nd line risk and assurance activities within large, complex or heavily regulated organisation, you will be effective in building professional relationships and influencing and collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines and at all levels. 

You will need to engage effectively with frontline and support colleagues to really understand the needs of our beneficiaries and the risks to the charity more broadly.  The ultimate objective of risk management at The Children’s Trust is to ensure the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe and effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term.

Although the role does not have any formal direct reports, the Risk & Assurance Analyst will have a dotted line into the Risk & Assurance Manager, providing support particularly on business continuity but also on risk management as and when necessary.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to JDPS attached for more info

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Adequate understanding of the importance and mechanics of document control and writing policy and procedure
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format

Endometriosis impacts the physical and mental health of 10% of women and those assigned female at birth, from puberty to menopause - although the impact can be felt for life. Yet it’s a disease most people have never heard of, do not understand and that has no cure. It costs the UK economy around £8.2 billion every year in healthcare costs, loss of work and treatments and yet it isn’t recognised by most employers. As the UK’s leading charity for all those affected by endometriosis, we’re determined to change this and ensure that everyone gets prompt diagnosis and the best treatment and support.

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to cover parental leave. 

The successful candidate will have accountability for several key areas of operational delivery of BITC’s programmes across England, Scotland and Wales. This role will ensure the high quality and consistency of performance through these aspects of operational delivery and development, working closely with businesses, internal stakeholders and external partners. This role is responsible for leading and managing a high-performing team, delivering programmes and contractual obligations across their patch. The post holder will lead on driving programme/contractual performance (both KPI’s and financial) motivating and inspiring the team.  They will also have responsibility for ensuring continued funding from key partners and securing new income; monitoring and reporting on this important activity as it contributes to BITC's vision within a set geographical area or programme/project areas.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of:

· Managing the delivery of contract and programmes to meet contractual obligations

· Working with business, schools and/or community organisations to create beneficial relationships

· Providing leadership, motivation and development for a dispersed team to achieve excellent results for businesses and beneficiaries

· Securing funding for impact programmes

This is a fixed term contract for approximately 10 months to cover parental leave. 

The location is flexible - candidates can be based at home or at their nearest BITC office.

The salary level for this role reflects the contractual location and the programme funding.  The salary range is £33,120 to 41,000 per annum (regional) and £36,225 to £44,000 London office based. 

The role is full-time - 35 hours per week.

The National Clinical Assurance Group provides independent advice and assurance to NHSE on developments around the clinical content used for NHS pathways, ensuring that patients receive the best care for their condition. As project manager, you will lead the project to ensure that NHS pathways are independently assured by clinicians who are leaders in their field.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.  

In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to reverse this trend. We will achieve this by finding out what works to prevent youth violence and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. We do this by funding, evaluating and then spreading the very best work on reducing youth violence across England and Wales. 

Central to this is the evaluation team.  The team is responsible for commissioning and monitoring complex and rigorous impact evaluations from experts in the field.

The Senior Evaluation Manager will play a key role in supporting the Assistant Director of Evaluation to lead elements of evaluation work. The post holder will also lead a team of two Evaluation Managers, ensuring they have the support to deliver a portfolio of evaluation projects. 

Key responsibilities 

The core of your job is to ensure that we are excellent at evaluation, so we can find out the best ways to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. 

Evaluation 

Working with the Head of Evaluation the post holder will: 

• Implement the processes to assess the quality of evidence presented in funding applications and provide funding recommendations to the Grants and Evaluation Committee. 

• Shape the evaluation approach for individual grant rounds, including leading on this for a small number of rounds. 

• Provide technical expertise on evaluation to the team and lead the development of YEF’s thinking on one or more areas of evaluation. 

• Lead the delivery of YEF’s evaluation work, designing, commissioning and managing complex and large-scale evaluations. 

• Be responsible for YEF’s evaluation policies and reporting templates, ensuring they remain consistent and fit for purpose. 

• Be responsible for the ongoing development of YEF’s commissioning guidance. 

Team management 

The post holder will likely lead the recruitment, management and development of a team of Evaluation Officers and will: 

• Ensure they have the knowledge, skills and support to carry out their work effectively. 

• Provide regular feedback and coaching on written outputs. 

• Supervise and project manage the team’s evaluation work, providing quality assurance and monitoring of progress against project plans and project budgets. 

Collaborative working 

The post holder will contribute to the wider YEF team and will: 

• Be accountable to YEF’s Fund Leadership Team for the delivery of evaluations, making sure they are on time and on budget, including reporting on risks and issues. 

• Work closely with colleagues across YEF and specifically the Programme team. 

• Ensure high-quality evidence is at the heart of all YEF activity and that the evidence we produce is communicated in a clear and accessible way which will drive sustainable change. 

• Support the management of YEF’s panel of evaluators and expert panel. 

General 

The post holder may be involved in other elements of YEF's projects, working with senior colleagues to commission, scope and deliver projects. 

About you 

You are this sort of person: 

• You don't want your days to pass without making a difference. You want to play a significant part in reducing the level of violence involving young people and see the value in an evidence-informed approach.   

• You are an excellent communicator. You can produce technical documents that accurately report methodological and statistical information. You will combine this with experience of communicating complex evidence and analysis in a simple and accessible format to non- experts. 

• You have a post-graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in social science, social policy, public health, health services or other fields, with a significant quantitative component, or relevant experience equivalent to a Masters qualification. 

• You have strong knowledge, experience and technical expertise in evaluation methodologies including the ability to critically appraise the design of a variety of different evaluation designs. 

• You have quantitative analysis skills including experience of using advanced analytical software such as R, Stata or SPSS. 

• You have significant experience in carrying out or commissioning research including designing all aspects of the research and managing external contractors.  This may be in academia, government or a related sector. 

• You have strong relationship management skills. You are comfortable working with a wide range of people, including senior academics and other research experts, children and their families, practitioners, and policy makers. You’re able to provide constructive challenge when required.

• You bring the best out of your colleagues.  You have experience in leading teams and managing others to achieve amazing results. You can both take and give direction. You are collaborative and a team player, able to build strong relationships across the whole organisation. You are happy to help out when and where it’s needed. 

• You have excellent project and time management skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

You may have, but they are not essential: 

• A good level of knowledge and understanding of crime or serious violence. You know the facts, understand the issues, know the key people, and can discuss the theories. You’re knowledgeable on this topic and very at ease discussing it with experts. Alternatively, you might have a strong understanding of a relevant area such as education, youth work or social care.

While it’s not a criteria, we’re especially interested to hear from applicants who have lived experience of youth violence.

Hybrid working details  

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.
