ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of our Community Support team, you will play a key role in ensuring the fulfilment of our users' needs by sharing information about our services, projects, and activities; this takes place in person, through our digital channels and helpline. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping up to date information about other services and partner organisations. The primary challenge faced by the Latin American community is the language barrier, which hinders their comprehension of the UK system and their entitlements. Taking part in the Community Interpreting service, you will support service users in navigating these obstacles, enabling them to establish a more integrated life in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to better understand the challenges faced by the Latin American community in London; use their language skills in a positive and impactful way; and develop valuable administrative and customer service skills in a multicultural, fast-paced organisation.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Connecting service users to our services, projects and activities in person or by answering phone calls and emails
● Supporting users with general enquiries, referring them to relevant services within our organisation as well as signposting and referring to external services
● Registering users on our database and keeping accurate records of services offered
● Monitoring internal calendars and appointments
● Sharing useful, up-to-date information with users as instructed by other team members
● Ensuring internal communications, flyers and handouts are up to date
● Interpreting calls for service users and supporting with non-official translations
● Supporting community members with basic application forms
● Liaising with staff in other departments and with external contacts

The Better Together Learning Trust is seeking a suitably committed and experienced individual to join an established Board of six other Trustees as a Director with expertise in one of the following areas. Governance, legal, sustainability or the broader education environment
The role is non-remunerated and carries the full responsibilities of a company Director in line with the Companies Act (2006).
About the Trust
Better Together Learning Trust came into being in September 2017 and is currently comprised of one Academy, Friars Academy, and a free school, Chelveston Road School.
Both schools provide education for children and young people with special educational needs aged 11 to 19 in North Northamptonshire. Friars Academy has been rated outstanding by Ofsted in two inspections in June 2015 and 2019, and Chelveston Road School was rated good in 2023.

Like other Trusts, Better Together Learning Trust is operating in a challenging economic environment. We wish to grow our operation and influence, but we recognise the need to do this organically. We are developing an updated strategy focussing on our excellence in care for pupils with special needs.

Role and person specification
We are looking to recruit two Director’s to join an established Board of six other Trustees. The person’s role is as follows:
· To advise, support and hold to account the leadership team of the Trust as it seeks to grow the Trust
· To utilise their commercial knowledge to advise the Trust Board in the development of its strategy
The person will also act with other directors to develop a clear vision and strategic direction for the MAT and to oversee the prudent use of resources in accordance with company and charity law. The successful candidate will have a track record of working at a strategic level in organisations and preferably a background in leading and developing a business. Like other directors, the applicant needs to have a passion for education and ambition for those with special educational needs.
Commitment of time
The applicant will need to commit to meeting as a Board 6 times a year, which may include an annual strategic review day, and in a sub-committee 3 times a year. There may also be ad hoc face-to-face meetings which consist of hearing appeals or complaints. Board and Committee meetings start at 6pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays and are face-to-face during term time. Sub-committee meetings commence at 4.15pm.

This is a pivotal time for the Foundation, and key to our future success will be up to three new trustees that can broaden our diversity and add to the skills and perspectives of the Board to support this new strategic approach.

Mynshull’s Educational Foundation is committed to improving the life-chances of young people from Manchester and Salford, so they can grow up to fulfil their potential. Through the provision of small grants, we aim to reduce the barriers that young people face to education, skills and training.
We provide funding for young people aged 25 or under to help them obtain equipment, uniforms or experiences that support them in starting or continuing their education or training. Some examples include grants towards the cost of school trips and residentials, text books, stationery, apprenticeship equipment such as tools, and musical instruments.
We are currently recruiting for trustees to join our board. The right candidate will understand the challenges faced by young people in Manchester and Salford; this may be through their own lived experiences or through professional experience, for example in education or health and social care. As a Criminal Justice Dependency & Recovery Volunteer, you will work closely with Dependency and Recovery Coordinators to deliver a range of tailored activities to adult males who are on probation.
You will support in delivering psychosocial interventions to help the person on probation to achieve their goals around their substance misuse and offending behaviour.
As a Change Grow Live volunteer you will be part of a supportive team, you will have a dedicated member of staff to support and supervise you. All our volunteers receive comprehensive training and guidance to develop within the role.

Candidates interested in the role of Lay Governor at college must be able to demonstrate commitment to Safeguarding, Strategic leadership and a passion to Further Education particularly Specialist Education. A understanding of issues facing the post 16 specialist education sector would be desirable. If you feel you have the ability to make a positive contribution to meetings and provide constructive challenge to support senior managers at the college we would love to hear from you. We anticipate that the successful candidates will need to commit a minimum of 4 half days per term to the role in relation to meetings and preparation. The ability to attend other ad-hoc college events and visits would also be very welcomed.
This is a primarily virtual role, with all meetings taking place remotely, and an expectation of travelling to college sites once a term.
The role of members of the Governing Body is to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge to the college senior management team to ensure that Sense College provides an excellent education experience for all students. The Governors will work with the college senior management to ensure the college offers a broad based curriculum to maximise the teaching and learning experiences of all its students, with demonstrable outcomes. Sense College East Lay Governors will attend 3 full committee meetings a year, plus 3 extra meetings for their chosen sub-committee. Meetings last from 90 minutes for sub-committees and 2 hours 30 minutes for the full committee, Lay Governors will come prepared and engaged, having done the reading the prior and ready to ask any questions they may have. Governors of Sense College have a varied role encompassing a range of duties. Much of this is undertaken through participation in the full Governing Body meetings and Sense College sub-committees according to a governor`s experience and skillset, and through college visits.
Some examples of governor duties are below, noting that these are not exclusive:
- Reviewing, approving and monitoring the implementation of the Sense College 2022-2025 Strategic Plan
- Approving the final Sense College Annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
- Reviewing and monitoring progress and outcomes from the Sense College Quality Improvement Plan (QuIP)
- Reviewing students’ progress and achievements through a range of products i.e. case studies, reports and visits to Sense College
- Reviewing college data against Key Performance Indicators and dashboards.
- Participating in Ofsted inspection meetings on governance to support Sense College and the college senior management team
- Monitoring implementation of safeguarding (SfG) procedures, keeping updated with current SfG legislation and governors Prevent responsibilities
- Monitoring college budget performance with the emphasis on new students referrals funded through the Education and Skills Funding Agency
- Attending and participating in governor training events, student celebrations and college visits

Volunteering alongside the course tutor, support workers and other volunteers, we
would like you to help engage and encourage students in their studies. You will be
based in the classroom but may also have the chance to go on some study visits with
the students. If supporting students in live online courses, you will join the tutor and
students on your home computer using the Zoom video-conference app.
Main tasks
1. Helping students understand, appreciate and enjoy the topic
2. Supporting and encouraging students in the classroom, either 1:1 or in a small group
3. Helping students to record their learning and develop their study skills
4. Assisting with the set-up and running of activities
5. Complying with the WEA volunteer code of conduct
