The difference you will make to cats and people

At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering team lead volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and lead and support a team of neutering volunteers.

What can you expect to be doing?

• our neutering team lead volunteers support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported
• promoting and sharing the benefits of Cats Protection’s neutering schemes
• responding to neutering enquiries, from members of the public and the team of neutering volunteers, providing advice and guidance in line with Cats Protection policies
• completing relevant neutering paperwork and distributing neutering vouchers
• keeping electronic records, managing the group’s neutering budget, and utilising appropriate Cats Protection systems
• keeping the branch committee updated on branch neutering activity and budget
• ensuring cats and kittens are neutered in line with Cats Protection policies

Time expectation 

Our neutering team leader volunteers usually spend between five to 10 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our Portchester Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We’re looking for patient, supportive people who’d like to spend a few hours each week helping others to learn and develop new skills.

As a Learning Support Volunteer, you’ll be part of a welcoming team that helps adults and young people take part in our learning, employability and personal development sessions. You’ll provide encouragement, guidance and reassurance to help participants build confidence and progress at their own pace.

This is a flexible, hands-on role for anyone who enjoys supporting others and wants to make a difference in their community.

About Us

MAPS Mentoring is an award-winning early-intervention project that supports vulnerable children and young people in the London Borough of Sutton. Our dedicated volunteers provide a safe, supportive space for young people facing challenges such as low self-esteem, difficult family relationships, abuse, bereavement, or self-harm. Through mentoring, we empower mentees to unpack their experiences, build confidence, and find their voice.

About the Role

We’re looking for Volunteer Mentors to join our MAPS Mentoring team. As a mentor, you’ll meet with a young person in Sutton for 1-2 hours weekly for up to a year. Meetings are flexible and can take place in the evenings, weekends, or during the week for our older mentees, or for in-school mentoring.

No prior experience is needed - just a genuine desire to make a difference in a young person’s life.

With a budget provided for food, drinks, activities, and travel, you and your mentee can choose what to do together. Whether it’s casual coffee chats, dog walks, or saving up for more adventurous outings like GoKarting, Thorpe Park trips, or even indoor skydiving, the choice is yours!

What We’re Looking For

Excellent communication and listening skills
Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust
Sensitivity and understanding of the challenges young people face
A positive attitude and reliability
Commitment to meeting with a mentee weekly for up to a year
Willingness to undergo a DBS check and attend a full day of training
Prior experience working with young people is welcome but not essential

Description

SCB volunteers support adults with additional support needs in our Crewe workshop. We’ll train you to guide simple, real work-style tasks—labelling, light assembly, packaging, stock-sorting—and to model clear, step-by-step instructions. The goal: build confidence, routine and employability skills while helping real customer orders get finished.

We’re also looking for volunteers in other areas vital to our small charity, including:

• Fundraising helpers – supporting events, raffles, and campaigns.

• Community collection volunteers – placing and collecting donation tins in local shops and venues.

• Charity admin and finance support – helping with office tasks, filing, data entry, or bookkeeping.

• Practical support – maintenance, IT, or offering a specific skill (woodwork, craft, CV/time-keeping tips).

A regular 2–4 hour slot on a weekday (Mon–Thu 9:00–16:00, Fri 9:00–14:00) works well, but occasional sessions are also welcome.

The impact you’ll have

You’ll help people build confidence, routine and employability skills, reduce isolation, and enable us to take on more meaningful work and community orders. Your support in fundraising, admin, or collections will directly boost our sustainability and reach in the community.

The skills you’ll need

Kind, patient and reliable; good with people. No specific experience required—training, induction and supervision are provided. Great fit for 18+ students seeking work experience, retirees wanting to give back, and anyone with a practical or organisational skill to share.

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Officer who is creative, strategic, and collaborative to lead SSI’s storytelling, public engagement, and community-focused communication initiatives. This role combines content creation, campaign management, brand stewardship, and stakeholder engagement to support SSI’s mission and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Content creation and management: Write, edit, and publish clear, engaging, and inclusive content for SSI’s website, newsletters, blogs, press releases, and wider communications.

• Campaign development and execution: Plan and implement marketing and communications campaigns across digital and traditional channels to raise awareness, support membership growth, and increase engagement.

• Website management: Update and maintain SSI’s website content, ensuring it is accurate, accessible, up-to-date, and user-friendly.

• Brand management: Ensure SSI’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and visual identity are consistently applied across all communications and materials.

• Stakeholder engagement: Develop and maintain effective communication with members, volunteers, staff, partners, funders, and community networks.

• Develop and deliver marketing campaigns that promote SSI’s services, membership model, and community programmes.

• Manage SSI’s online presence, including its website, newsletters, and (where appropriate) social media platforms, in coordination with the Social Media Manager and Graphic & Content Coordinator.

• Support outreach and events with branded materials, graphics, and promotional content.

• Track campaign performance, analytics, and community engagement metrics, providing insight to inform future activity.

• Manage relationships with local media outlets, community partners, and networks.

• Uphold brand consistency across all digital, print, and in-person communications.

• Collaborate with Outreach, Membership, and Community Engagement Teams to align communications with SSI’s wider social impact goals.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and channels.

• Confident using digital tools such as email marketing platforms, basic website/content management systems, and analytics tools to support campaigns and track engagement.

• Ability to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies that align with organisational goals and community needs.

• Comfortable tracking, analysing, and reporting on campaign and communications performance, using data-driven insights to improve future work.

• Able to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders, integrating marketing and communications activity across the organisation.

• A creative and strategic thinker with strong writing and communication skills.

• Experience in marketing and/or communications.
