As an External Trustee, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of Chester Students' Union, ensuring it is delivering effectively for its members and challenging the University to deliver the best possible University experience.

- Financial Acumen: Familiarity with financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting. Ability to analyse financial information and make informed decisions in the best interest of the organisation.
- Legal and Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of the legal and regulatory obligations of charitable companies in the UK. Awareness of governance and compliance issues relevant to the higher education sector.
- Networking and Advocacy: Strong networking skills with the ability to advocate for the Students' Union and build collaborative partnerships. A willingness to represent the organisation at external events and engage with stakeholders.
- Student-Centric Approach: A genuine commitment to student welfare and the enhancement of the student experience. Ability to empathise with and understand the diverse needs of the student community.

Henshaws - Trustee
Founded in 1837, Henshaws is a northern charity supporting people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to go beyond expectations.
Position
Becoming a trustee is a fantastic way to contribute to the life changing work we do. It provides a wealth of skills and connections to support career and personal development whilst playing an integral part of a well-respected highly valued charity.
We are currently seeking additional Trustees who will also be part of our board of Governors to oversee the implementation of Henshaws strategic plan and add value and expert advice to the senior leadership team.
This is a voluntary role and as such is unpaid, however reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Requirements
What we are looking for:
- A willingness to devote the necessary time, effort and a commitment to attending Trustee Board meetings in the north of the UK and other necessary meetings that might arise.
- Have strategic vision and be able to understand and assess risks

- Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
- Be able to work effectively as a member of a team and to maintain good working relations.

- Knowledge or experience of physical or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential.
In particular we are looking for trustees with any of the qualities stated below:
- Experience of health and social care and an understanding of CQC regulations. (Trustee and Governor)

What will you be doing?
The Chair of CPRE London’s Trustee Board plays a key role in leading, developing and delivering the work.
Responsibilities
· Leading the Trustee board and the organisation to enable it to fulfil its purpose
· Ensuring an effective relationship between the Trustee board and staff/ volunteers, and external stakeholders Acting as a spokesperson and figurehead as appropriate

What are we looking for?
· Experience in leading meetings and/or previous Board experience is desirable

We are looking for someone with the right mix of managerial/ leadership skills and a willingness to lead the organisation forward to achieve success in its strategy. This role is for a candidate interested in a range of issues around the natural environment and wants to be part of an organisation that campaigns for the sustainable use of land and other natural resources to protect and enhance the environment and quality of life in London. Some knowledge of or familiarity with London’s planning process would be helpful.
What difference will you make?
The successful candidate will work with the Director, staff and other trustees to ensure that the charity’s strategy is achieved and modified as necessary to embrace new ideas or changes in circumstances.
Commitment:
Typically, 2-4 days a month with other trustees and staff in support of CPRE London and its key objectives, either at the office or remotely. There are 4 Board meetings a year at our London office, from 18.30, generally finishing by 20.30, plus an Away Day meeting in the Greater London area.

As the Secretary for our Board of Trustees, you are part of a team providing a vital support function in your local community, ensuring a dignified experience to anyone visiting or anyone who comes into contact with Irlam and Cadishead foodbank.
Key Tasks:
As a Trustee:
- Work with the other trustees to provide management support and direction.
- Ensure that the foodbank meets legal and best practice standards; in the care of clients and volunteers, as a registered charity, carrying out our purpose towards stopping hunger in our local area, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources.
- Liaise with the Trussell Trust on a rotating basis with the other Trustees.
- Understand the working of the foodbank distribution centres, warehouse and donations and attend at least 2 sessions a year.
As Secretary of Trustees:
- Ensure that there is a record of all Trustee Board correspondence
- Ensure that arrangements for Trustee meetings are communicated to the rest of the board, including when and where, inviting trustees to send agenda items and providing to the board with previous meeting minutes in good time prior to the meeting.
- Ensure that Trustees use and implement the NCVO Governance Wheel to ensure we meet best practice for charity governance.
- Ensure decisions and policy creation/adaption are clearly recorded in formal minutes, with who will do what and when as agreed by the Trustee board.
- Ensure formal minutes are taken, produced and distributed to the rest of the trustees in good time, as well as ensuring previous meeting minutes are signed by the chair once approved by the trustee board.
- Check that actions have been taken following decisions at previous meetings.
- Ensure the trustee board meets its legal obligations, including reporting, meeting charity and company law, as well as insurance requirements.
- Ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed of the Annual Membership Meeting (AMM)
- To ensure that the annual report (to go alongside annual accounts) is produced and sent to the Charity Commission of England & Wales.

Good Vibrations is an award-winning, national arts organisation that changes lives through music. The Board of Trustees
Good Vibrations is a registered charity in both England & Wales (1126493) and Scotland (SC048860). The charity is governed by the Board of Trustees, which currently numbers five following the standing down of some long-term members.
The Board is vital in Good Vibrations’ governance and is responsible for setting directions in strategy and maintaining oversight over all activity. Trustees also play an ambassadorial role in raising awareness of our work.
The current board includes expertise in arts and culture, legal and charitable affairs, finance and academia, helping to ensure that we extend our knowledge of the issues and challenges we face.

What are we looking for?
The position has become available following the standing down of the current Chair Nick Jolliffe, who has been with the organisation since 2018. The organisation has recently appointed a new CEO, and this is an exciting time of development for the organisation.
As our new Chair, you will help shape the next exciting phase of our future development as we commence our new strategic plan, and embed our newest Trustees within our established Board. Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services to our beneficiaries.
The role of the Chair is a voluntary, non-executive appointment. The role requires a commitment of approximately two hours a week, with the capacity to flex upwards should the need arise.
We are looking for someone who has:

- Genuine interest and commitment to social justice issues and improving outcomes and opportunities for marginalised people in our society.

- Previous experience on the Board of a UK charity, or operating at a senior strategic leadership level in previous roles
- Knowledge about UK charity governance and commitment to maintaining high standards of governance and risk management in all areas including finance.
- Excellent communication skills and networking capabilities, and able to act as an ambassador for the charity and cause.
- Ability to commit time, interest and effort to conduct the role well.
How our Board works
Trustees meet quarterly at Board Meetings, either in person in London or online from 5.00pm – 7.30pm. There is also an annual Strategy day in London.
In addition, a Finance sub-committee meets quarterly, looking in-depth at finance and other matters, before putting recommendations forward to the Board.
Trustees do not receive remuneration or other benefits, but all expenses can be claimed including those required to cover access needs such as sign language, interpretation, captioning or travel expenses. The full legal framework for Trustees is laid out in the Articles of Association, which were recently revised in 2022.
Trustees serve for an initial term of three years and will have the opportunity to be re-appointed for a second and final term (maximum of nine years).
What Responsibilities will you have?
Trustees ensure the good governance and smooth running of the charity, supporting the Chief Executive Director, the wider staff team, and our team of freelance facilitators.

All Good Vibrations’ Trustees have responsibility for the:
- governance of the organisation in line with legal and financial requirements of the Charity Commission, OSCR, other regulatory bodies, and funders;
- appointment, including the approval of job descriptions and pay levels of members of staff; agreeing terms & conditions and employment procedures;
- recruitment of new Trustees;
- approval of Good Vibrations’ strategy, its business, and artistic plans, and use of resources;
- approval of budgets, annual accounts and financial strategies;
- approval of all policies ensuring that they are updated in line with law and best practice.
The Chair, as the leader of the Board of Trustees, has some additional responsibilities including:
- working with and line managing the CEO to develop the direction and strategy of the charity;
- conducting annual performance reviews for each trustee and the CEO;
- ensuring high standards of governance, risk management and strategic direction
- ensuring that all Trustees have the information available to carry out this task and monitor progress;
- leading and developing the Board of Trustees and CEO including induction, training and succession planning;
- support of the CEO in their role, including developing external relations with key agencies;
- working with other members of the Board to organise and populate sub-committees and short-term working groups;
- planning the cycle of Board Meetings and working with the CEO to set agendas and plan meetings;
- chairing and facilitating Board meetings effectively, encouraging discussion, summarising key points and ensuring decisions are made fairly;
- acting as a principal ambassador for the organisation at Board level and developing external relationships for the benefit of Good Vibrations

About the role
We are looking for Digital Mapping Volunteers to support our Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support & Living Well services and network. You will be residing within Derbyshire community or surrounding area and, ideally, you will be able to commit up to 3 hours per week to volunteering.
The aim of our Community Mapping project is to provide easily accessible information on locations of other services, groups and community resources / assets available to our wider network.
You will work closely with a network of'nomad' volunteers across Derbyshire. Nomad volunteers collect local grass roots information on support, points of interest and community assets available in the community were they live.
As a Digital Mapping Volunteer, you will support other 'nomad' volunteers by updating the local information they collect on our digital Community Mental Health Support Map.
You will receive training and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role.

Do you enjoy working with people and would you like to make a positive impact for Turtle Doves? This species was once widespread and numerous but now is down to 2100 pairs in the UK. The Operation Turtle Dove project in partnership of RSPB, Natural England, Penthorpe Conservation Trust and Fair to Nature was established to conserve this iconic, red-listed species. Our staff and volunteers are working with landowners to try and halt and reverse the population decline but we need to measure our progress. Following on from the successful 2021 National Turtle Dove survey, we need to expand our network of survey volunteers in Kent, Sussex and Essex to enable yearly monitoring of survey squares for Turtle Doves.
We are looking for an organised person with excellent communication & IT skills to join our team and to help run the Turtle Dove monitoring program and supporting a network of volunteers. Experience in carrying out bird surveys is welcome but NOT essential, we can provide training so you can understand the role of the surveyors you will be recruiting and co-ordinating. This role could be carried out remotely. This is a year-round roll with peaks in activity before and after the survey season which runs from 11th May until 31st July. All equipment needed will be supplied.
Volunteer Coordinators undertake a wide range of activities, including:
Tasks:
- Dealing with queries from potential new volunteers who get in touch
- Being the first point of contact for our existing volunteers and answering general queries
- Lead on advertising new volunteer roles (on the RSPB and external websites, in the local community)
- Set up interviews with potential volunteers and assist with induction administration
- Administrative tasks such as recording volunteer hours, registering new volunteers on our database, organising surveys, receiving, and entering data and processing expense claims
- Organising and managing a small budget for volunteer thank-you events at the end of the survey season.
- Helping to promote the project through internal comms such as project newsletters
More potential experience (optional):
- Analysing and screening conservation footage from trail cameras
- Helping to coordinate large-scale orders of supplementary feeds for Turtle Dove seed
