About Action for ME

Action for ME is the only charity in the UK providing support, including healthcare, to people of all ages affected by ME. The charity was founded by Sue Finlay in 1987 and since then has been taking holistic approach so we can make an impact on multiple fronts - from amplifying the voices of people affected by ME in Government and leading on breakthrough research, to providing "lifeline" support and unique healthcare services on a daily basis.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), sometimes referred to and diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a chronic, fluctuating disease, causing symptoms such as post-exertional malaise (PEM), sleep problems, problems with thinking and memory (brain fog), pain and crushing fatigue. There are an estimated 1.3 million people living with ME or ME-like symptoms, including PEM, in the UK alone.

Even in its so-called mildest form, ME can have a significant impact on an individual’s life, and not just on their health. A lack of understanding and awareness about ME means patients can experience disbelief, and even discrimination, from friends, family, health and social care professionals, employers and teachers.

For the first time there is an increased awareness of post viral illness because of the Covid -19 pandemic. After decades of neglect this offers Action for ME an opportunity to accelerate our work for people with ME in a way we have never been able to do before. The intent of everything we do is to pursue positive impact for the lives, rights, and futures of people affected by ME.

Job purpose

This role will deliver an exceptional supporter experience to our donors, building and maintaining strong relationships with our supporters. Working closely with other members of the fundraising and communications teams, you will deliver our supporter journey, maintain regular communication with donors and be an integral part of our fundraising campaigns and appeals.

Key duties

• Work with the Fundraising Operations Manager to deliver our supporter journey, engaging current and prospective donors with our work and giving them an excellent experience of supporting Action for ME.
• Be responsible for creating the methods that ensure each supporter relationship is maximised, increasing retention rates for a growing supporter base. As such you will be required to engage with supporters so that they feel valued, and relationships can be developed further for the benefit of the charity.
• Lead on thanking donors, including making phone calls to donors as part of stewardship.
• Work closely with the Fundraising Operations Manager and the team to support the growth of income streams, including but not limited to, individual giving, Gift Aid, legacies, trading, community fundraising and membership.
• Work with the communications team on the delivery of digital communications, including social media and e-communications for a diverse range of audiences.
• Play a key role in fundraising appeals and campaigns including our yearly Big Give Christmas Challenge, Summer Appeal, Thanking Campaign and any other fundraising initiative or project as directed by the Fundraising Operations Manager or Director of Fundraising.

About the role

We are seeking a Substance Misuse Worker who has a specialism in mental health and substance use to join our team in Catford. You will be based within a 24 hour service which provides enhanced rehabilitation support to adults who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health, who would benefit from an intensive rehabilitation and recovery-focused approach. Within this role, you will provide specialist knowledge and experience to support the wider team and residents to help them to overcome their personal barriers.

You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will be a specialist in comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of your duties will include:

• Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.
• Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.
• Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning.

We are looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with experience in interventions, and in a similar role. Qualifications are desirable if paired with practical experience which is relevant to this role. We look at individual characteristics with the ability to engage with various people who may not want to receive the support, able to build trusting professional relationships, and able to demonstrate resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive. About the Role

About the Role

Inclusion Coordinator will design and deliver creative arts activities for young people, overseeing the programmes for the Sensory Room and Duty Management of the Sunday Beyond Session. As well as this, you will provide line management support, coaching and development for arts sessional workers in their areas. This role requires a minimum of 55% of working hours spent face to face with young people.

In the first 6 months, you will have:

• Supported the Youth Zone to achieve 1000 visits by young people a week, inspired by the continually changing & vibrant offer.
• Collaborated with the delivery team to ensure a vibrant & engaging programme is in place every session, planned 3 months in advance with input & co-creation with young people.
• Grown, recruited, developed & led the sessional inclusion youth work team to provide a supportive, safe, inclusive, and ambitious environment.
• Developed strong local SEN/D partnerships which result in direct benefit to the borough's young people.
• Introduced the OnSide Evaluation Framework alongside young people's feedback to enhance the quality of the support given to help young people's progression.
• Created progression pathways for young people to build on our 'practice, perfect and perform' model.
• Ensured volunteers & young leaders are well managed and supported.
• Helped to deliver an engaging Beyond session with up to 60 young people attending per session; ensuring that our members with additional needs are supported with our "All About Me" forms.

About You

With a relevant qualification in SEND or Youth Work Essential Evidence of ongoing professional development (for example Safeguarding, health & Safety, Management), you will have experience of delivering SEND activities to young people in-line with relevant guidance and good practice.

You will have essential, proven experience of working with young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in a range of settings and experience of engaging vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach young people in activities. We are also looking for someone with experience of managing a staff team, ideally including volunteers and with a strong commitment to safeguarding children.

We need someone with a willingness to work evenings and every Sunday morning and to cover events, holidays and staff absence

This leadership role will focus on driving forward Depaul International’s global advocacy strategy during a period of maternity cover. Homelessness is a growing international challenge, yet lacks a unified global response. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of our global advocacy strategy in line with the Depaul Group Strategy
