Prior to joining ClientEarth in 2018, Emily was part of the development team at London's Natural History Museum where she worked on the Hintze Hall transformation capital campaign and launch activity. As Associate Director, Philanthropy, Emily manages the global philanthropy team and works alongside external stakeholders and a Development Board to secure income and connections for the organisation.

Role requirements

• Significant fundraising management experience in Asia with demonstrable experience of securing five and six figure, and multi year gifts  
• Experience in multiple elements of fundraising including identifying and building supporter bases in new geographies and working with different types of fundraising teams (e.g. philanthropic/HNWIs, trusts and foundations)
• Experience of working in a global team, working across multiple time zones and understanding / experience of working in a matrix style
• Experience of working with senior internal and external stakeholders, to build networks, deliver income and raise organisation profiles
• Ability to represent ClientEarth externally to high value funders and other senior stakeholders.

Role Title: External Communications and Advocacy Lead

This is a rare opportunity to shape the new communications function in a thriving cancer charity, establishing Shine as the go-to charity supporting all young adults living with any type of cancer in the UK.

Responsible to: Co-CEOs

Location: Hybrid, with two to three days per week at Shine’s offices in Blackheath, Southeast London. 

Hours & salary:  Full time (35 hours per week).  Salary range is £39,000 - £43,000pa depending on experience.  This is a permanent job with a three-month probation period.

Main purpose of the role:

A rare opportunity to shape the new communications function in a thriving cancer charity and to establish its reputation as the go-to charity supporting all young adults living with any type of cancer in the UK.

As part of our growth plan, we are delighted to be hiring our first Communications and Advocacy Lead. Working on our external communications strategy to build authority and be the go-to voice for younger adults (aged 20 to 49 years) living with cancer, this person will be responsible for managing all external communications. In addition, will work closely with the rest of the Shine team to ensure consistent external messaging.

Key Responsibilities

These include:

● Develop implementation plans to support Shine’s communications strategy to build authority in the cancer support space.

● Responsible for developing the Shine narrative, brand voice, and talking points to support external stories and campaigns, and to co-create fundraising messages with the Fundraising Manager and Fundraising Consultant.

● Responsible for all external communications with media including national and regional outlets, print and broadcast, digital channels and titles read by healthcare professionals.

● Supervision of the social media output from Shine, ensuring consistency with the overall communications plan. 

●       Ability to represent Shine at external stakeholder meetings.

●    Working closely with the Shine team to raise Shine’s profile through advocacy activities in the cancer community and healthcare professionals.

● Work with Shine co-CEOs to develop their external profiles through thought-leadership, speaker and advocacy platforms.

Person Specification

Essential skills:

● Ability to develop multi-channel communications plans, using social, digital and traditional media platforms

● Knowledge of UK health media including health correspondents and reporters for national news outlets (print & TV and radio)

● A good eye for design, with the ability to manage, develop and implement brand guidelines

● Experience of working with media databases and press release distribution services

● Excellent writing skills and experience of writing materials for media

● Ability to create media angles and stories from data and third-party content

● Identify platforms for Shine thought-leadership, particularly for the co-CEOs

● Strong skills in using online technology platforms including Google workspace, Canva, YouTube and MS Office.

Desirable skills:

● Experience of working alongside expert suppliers including design and content, public relations agencies and consultants. 

● Experience of managing projects remotely, including using tools such as Asana.

Core competencies:

● Empathy - understanding of the issues faced by the young adults (20-49 yrs.) living with cancer

● Attention to detail -must deliver accurate content to a high standard

● Self-directed - must be able to work independently and make strategic recommendations to Shine co-CEOs on all aspects of Shine communications

● Collaborative - ability to represent Shine and work in partnership with third parties including patient groups, medical professional groups and industry.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

Leadership and management 

• At least 3 years of experience in a senior communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors

• Proven ability to manage both strategy and delivery programmes, balancing long-term objectives with operational priorities
• Superb manager with the proven ability to inspire, motivate, support and lead staff to thrive and create a high performing team and measurable results.

Communications and stakeholder engagement 

• Proven experience of developing and delivering marketing and/or communications plans 

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

IT and digital experience

Our Infrastructure Systems Manager plays a crucial role in the development, support and maintenance of these systems, implementing the tools and technology we need as well as driving the reduction of IT costs where possible.

This role is responsible for:

• Maintenance of technical infrastructure based on Microsoft technologies
• Automated process creation to ensure systems are monitored and managed
• Migration of remaining on premise systems to Microsoft cloud based solutions

Role summary

The Minster Centre is a small, friendly organisation and the Reception Manager needs to be an adaptable and flexible person who enjoys teamwork within a continuously evolving environment. Background

The Minster Centre is a registered charity based in Queens Park, London NW6 that trains psychotherapists and counsellors and provides an accessible therapy service. As an accredited higher education organisation, we provide in-person and online courses throughout the week and weekend. The Minster Centre provides a psychotherapy and counselling service to the local community and has a number of rooms that are hired out for therapy, training, and events.

The Reception Manager is a critical and central role at The Minster Centre, providing a welcoming service to students, room hirers, therapy clients and staff members that is efficient and aligned with The Minster Centre’s Ethos. As part of this role, you will provide first-line support to tutors and students as well as undertake administrative duties crucial to the running of the Centre. You will also provide support to other staff members where appropriate.

Job summary

The ideal candidate will have previous administration and front of house experience to help ensure that all building users (students, room hirers and clients) are welcomed, that the building is available and set up for training and therapy services, and that the building is closed and secured at the end of the day. Furthermore, they would be organised, have excellent IT skills and knowledge and, ideally, practice of using Zoom. They will have the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure. In addition, they will be able to work autonomously on various tasks and work well in a team. This is a great opportunity for someone with relevant transferable skills to develop those skills further.

Duties and responsibilities

Oversee and manage the Reception Team

• Ensure Reception is always covered by organising a reception rota that covers absence, holidays, etc.

General management of Reception

• Receive and welcome visitors.
• Co-ordinate access to the building, opening and closing of the building.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Order stationary and other supplies as requested.
• Manage petty cash.
• Keep the reception area tidy.
• Ensure there are adequate supplies of daily refreshments and organise catering for specific events.

Event and training support

• Set up for events and assist with special or evening events when requested.
• Organise and keep track of First Aid and Fire Marshal trainings.

Administration

• Manage the room booking system, including the processing of invoice figures in communication with Finance Assistant/Credit Controller.
• Deal with room booking enquiries and bookings for events.
• Answer, screen, and forward incoming telephone calls, and provide basic information when needed.
• Undertake data entry tasks, or similar, in quiet periods.
• Deal with customer queries or complaints politely and positively.

Facilities

• Work with the Facilities and Membership Manager to source and organise suppliers to meet the various facility needs of the building.
• Ensure that the building has adequate cleaning by working with the Facilities and Membership Manager in communication with Total Clean.
• Conduct daily spot checks of the building and report any significant problems to Facilities and Membership Manager.
• Undertake small repairs of damaged equipment or fixings.

IT support

• Field/triage general IT Support emails with the IT Team.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues on site.
• Support tutors and office staff with basic Office apps, Moodle, Zoom queries (support and training can be provided).
• Provide IT support for tutors facilitating Zoom teaching sessions including troubleshooting.
• Manage tutor Zoom accounts.
• Schedule Zoom sessions.

Student support and progression 

• Ensure that students are enrolled on courses and set up on systems accurately.
• Manage the re-enrolment process between academic years. 
• Oversee the recording of student progression. 
• Liaise with and support the Operations Team in organising the annual Graduation event and ensuring all eligible students receive timely information. 

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the ambit of the role, in discussion with their line manager or the Interim Management Team.

The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key senior member of the finance team and will help shape the strategic management and direction of the team. They will support the Director of Finance and Operations, Senior Leadership Team, Trustees and budget holders to understand and interpret IIED’s finances and play a key role in the long term strategic financial planning process.

The Operations Manager is a key role within the team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the SLG’s three sites: the Main Gallery, the Fire Station and Art Block. This includes managing the maintenance and upkeep of the SLG’s Grade II listed buildings and artist-designed gardens, as well as leading the Front of House team to ensure that the SLG provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and a high quality of visitor experience. 

The Operations Manager works closely with the Deputy Director and manages a team comprising two Operations Supervisors, the Gallery Technician and contracted and casual Front of House staff and Cleaners. The role takes the lead on the implementation and monitoring of the SLG’s environment and sustainability policy and contributes to organisation-wide work towards the SLG’s equity, diversity and inclusion objectives. 

The post holder will be required to be an appointed first aider and a fire marshal, as well as a primary keyholder. They may, therefore, be called upon for out of hours emergencies. Appropriate training will be given.
