We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Finance Team in the role of Finance Assistant.

The Finance Assistant supports all aspects of the Hallé’s work at the Bridgewater Hall, the Hallé Venues and concert halls across the UK.

The Finance Assistant works in a department currently comprising Finance Director, Finance Manager, Assistant Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.

The department is responsible for all aspects of the financial affairs of the Society and its related trusts. The Finance Assistant is responsible to the Assistant Finance Manager.

They take responsibility for processing the day-to-day transactions of the company across purchase ledger, sales ledger and the cash book, and ensure the smooth operation of the office. They will also need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Hallé as well as with external customers and suppliers.

The post is full-time permanent based on a 36.25-hour week. Our core office hours are 09.00-17:15, from Monday to Friday. There is an option to work up to 50% of hours from home.

As the demand for our model increases around the world, our income and expenditure are growing in volume and complexity. We are looking for a Finance Officer to support our financial operations through this expansion: recording financial transactions, monitoring internal controls and coordinating with our local foundations about financial management. Key Responsibilities:

 Carry out day-to-day financial transactions

· Process invoices to support fundraising efforts of local foundations in the network.

Support Finance Director on maintaining accurate financial information and developing ongoing internal controls

· A recognized accounting qualification or studying towards the qualification, (CIMA, ACCA)

About this role

The role of the Finance and Payroll Manager is to support the Development and Finance teams to manage and report on restricted income, as well as to manage monthly in-house payroll under the guidance of the Head of Finance. This involves ensuring that we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes and that staff are paid accurately and on time each month. The Finance and Payroll Manager will work within a small Finance team under the supervision of the Head of Finance. They will work closely with the Joint ED, wider Senior Management Team, Head of Development and budget holders throughout the organisation.

They will support the Head of Finance with annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting as well as with the production of the monthly management accounts. They will support the Development team in making grant applications and develop restricted grant budgets for newly secured grants for integration into the organisational budget; they will meet regularly with the Development team and budget holders to review restricted project spend. They will produce reports for funders working in conjunction with our Development Team and casework teams. The Finance and Payroll Manager will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement of the finance systems, processes and grant management tools to ensure they continue to be fit for purpose.

Contract and location

The role is a full-time, permanent position with an annual salary of £50,571 per annum less any required deductions for Income Tax and National Insurance.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ENN team as our Management Accountant - Grants.  The role provides the opportunity to work across the spectrum of ENN’s projects, as part of the operations team. You will be based in our headquarters in Oxfordshire and will work closely with ENN’s Finance Manager and Projects Team.

 About You

Bringing your experience of third sector accounting to ENN, you will be able to communicate well with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. You will be comfortable supporting complex projects, tailoring financial management information and reports to enable decision making and assuring donor compliance and reporting requirements are met consistently.

Terms and Conditions

• Hours of work: Part time, 60% of full-time hours (22.5 hours per week – pattern to be agreed)
• Type of contract: Permanent
• Location: This is an office-based position at ENN’s Head Office in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, OX5. Some hybrid working may also be offered. Currently our Operations Teamwork from the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and we require this role to be in the office on these days.

• Holidays: 25 days plus UK bank holidays increasing by one day p.a. after two complete years of service to a maximum of 27 days p.a. (pro rata)

Key responsibilities

 Grant compliance and reporting

• Financial compliance of grant spend in line with donor agreements ensuring no disallowable costs and that all allowable costs are reflected in the accounts correctly.
• Provide back up for grant financial reporting in the format required by donors for the projects team to review, collate and submit with the full donor reporting pack.
• Raise sales invoice to the donor with all back up attached and provide acknowledgement of funds letters upon receipt of cash in the bank.
• Work closely with the Finance Assistant and Projects team to ensure invoices are correctly coded to the right donor and project and complete month end reconciliations
• Input budget and quarterly reforecasts into the finance system (iplicit) and track grant performance against budgets on a regular basis providing variance analysis.
• Review and assimilate grant financial information for the Finance Manager and/or Project team as required which ultimately will be used as input in management reporting for various stakeholders (Technical budget holders, Management Team and Trustees).
• Support the organisation’s income generation ambitions, through the provision of advice, guidance and assistance, and in assisting with funding bids and budgeting and undertaking new funder/partner financial viability assessments as required.
• Maintain and update donor restricted fund balances/movements for year-end statutory reporting.
• Maintain project financial files and records for statutory audit and donor audit purposes.

Management accounting

• Prepare monthly income deferrals and income accruals and maintain month end trial balance reconciliations for management accounts.
• Capture any committed project costs to accrue.
• Apportion any interest earned from grant cash in the bank in line with donor contract terms.
• Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager on cash flow forecasting with regards to expected donor payments.
• As required by finance or the projects team, and working with iplicit, write reports in the finance system that would provide insightful and useful management information. For example, for grant monitoring and evaluation, trend analysis and assessing KPI’s etc
• Support the Finance Manager in capacity building and providing financial training to finance and non-finance staff.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager with regards to specific financial projects, as required.
• Bank signatory for creditor payments in line with ENN’s Delegation of Authority Policy.
• Provide cover for the Finance Manager when necessary.

Person Specification

Essential requirements

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, would consider part qualified or qualified by experience)
• Experience of charity-specific accounting and grant reporting requirements
• Experience working with grant funded projects and ability to navigate and communicate compliance requirements
• Experience in developing, monitoring, and reporting against budgets
• Able to present and visualise data in different ways for different audiences
• Ability to manage a diverse and busy workload, prioritising effectively, and able to work both autonomously and as a member of a dispersed and diverse team
• Flexibility and willingness to take on new areas of work and responsibilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, works well with other team members and business partners (both internal and external), including those without a specific financial background.
• Adept at identifying efficiencies and best practice to strengthen ways of working to benefit ENN finance and projects teams
• Motivated, takes initiative, innovates and delivers to deadlines. A self-starter, able to diagnose situations and constraints, comfortable when to progress independently and when to escalate
• Excellent attention to detail
• Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and commercial financial software

Desirable

• Experience of using iplicit accounting software
• Specific experience in dealing with institutional donors would be an advantage
• Experience in managing income and expenditure in multiple currencies
• Experience of evaluations: analysing, collating, reconciling and reviewing data related to grant and programme effectiveness
• Experience in developing funding opportunities with a variety of donors
• Data security and GDPR awareness

GRT are looking for an experienced, passionate and delivery focused Finance Manager to join our team in Birmingham. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial one-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. GRT’s aim is to eradicate poverty by providing humanitarian aid, relief and providing sustainable programmes to the needy across the globe. 

The ideal candidate will have a have a genuine understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and values of the GRT to implement the financial policies whilst working to support our dynamic teams. The Finance Manager will report directly to the CEO.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for preparing financial statements, overseeing monthly management accounts, managing payroll operations, handling accounts payable and receivable, and preparing the annual budget.

Main Responsibilities:

· Ensuring that financial and accounting services adhere to legal standards and contribute to the smooth operation of GRT activities.

· Annually reviewing and updating of all finance related policies.

· Creating an annual budget and regularly monitoring and comparing it with actual figures monthly.

· Managing the finance team by assigning tasks and overseeing their performance.

· Entering all financial data into finance software. (QuickBooks, Sage etc)

· Creating financial statements, overseeing cash management protocols, and managing accounts payable processes.

· Uploading pension contributions to the pension provider's platform

· Maintaining accurate ledgers and conducting monthly reconciliation of bank accounts.

· Ensuring the accuracy of monthly payroll processing.

· Responding to bank inquiries and providing necessary information.

· Completing year-end QuickBooks reports for trustees and the accountant and addressing any inquiries they may have.

Personal Specification:

· Excellent working knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar software.

· Up-to-date understanding of relevant charity and financial legislation, bookkeeping practices, accounting conventions, and best practices.

· Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems.

· Strong numerical, analytical, and strategic skills, including database development and management.

· Meticulous attention to detail.

· Excellent communication skills for presenting to various audiences, including non-financial specialists.

· Willingness to work variable hours, including occasional weekends and evenings.

We are looking for a Finance and Payroll Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and operations, this role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health. The Finance & Payroll Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Senior Leadership Team informed to make the best decisions for the charity. The role will also cover responsibility for all payroll operations, ensuring that all payments are accurate and on time and that appropriate and accurate information is provided to the Director of Finance & Operations, HMRC, pension providers and other external bodies. What is the role?

Joining the organisation at a pivotal time, with various exciting upcoming projects, you would be reporting directly into the CEO. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the entirety of the Finance department and four direct reports
• Acting as a business partner for the Finance department; liaising with various stakeholders at a number of different levels, communicating financial information effectively
• Budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning to ensure maintained financial health of the Church

• A full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)

• Confident user of Excel and other accounting systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at differing seniority
