About the job

This role is an excellent blend of financial and management accounting, so we need a really good all-rounder. You will be equally confident working on the technical accounting as influencing across the organisation with your business partnering skills. You may have previous experience in financial services but we are also looking for the right attitude and adaptability. You must have the appetite to learn and master our systems and processes and then improve them.

You will report to the Financial Controller and be the senior member of the Financial Control team, overseeing the work of the Assistant Accountants and Finance Administrator. You will be responsible for producing the management accounts and working across the organisation to convert your information into good decisions. You will need to be personable and persuasive as an expert business partner and will be crucial in helping our team enhance its influence across the organisation. Collaboration and generating insight will be important to you.

You will oversee the General Ledger so will need to have a relentless grip on the detail and the ability to master the relevant accounting standards. You will act as a partner to our auditors and will also lead on key elements of our internal financial controls and assurance as departmental Risk Champion. This means you will be comfortable in demonstrating the highest standards of stewardship and governance.

In return for your commitment and hard work, you will be rewarded with a salary of up to £43,000 (depending on experience). We believe people should be properly and appropriately paid for their work but that there should also be a fair distribution of the value the bank generates, which is why we do not have performance related pay or bonuses. Instead, we have an extensive benefits package where most of our benefits are non-contributory. Our benefits include:

  • Non-contributory pension scheme from your first day of 8% in year 1 and 10% from year 2 onwards
  • Life Assurance (worth 4 times basic pay)
  • Income Protection - 75% of basic pay after 13 weeks sick and following six months service
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • A Health Cash Plan
  • Vitality Leave – After each 7 years of service, you will be able to take a sabbatical of up 3 months
  • 25 days (FTE) plus bank holidays per annum with additional increase in holiday though length of service (up to 5 days FTE)
  • A buy and sell holiday scheme of up to 5 days (FTE) to maximum of 30 days
  • Season Ticket Loan available for commuting into the office
  • A wellbeing allowance of £100 a year
  • Voluntary benefits, including discounts and cycle to work scheme
