Supporting the Philanthropy Manager, you’ll focus on cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors. This will include developing and maintaining relationships with, and securing funds from, existing and new donors to support St John key strategic priorities, such as our inspiring programmes with young people and our community first aid response work.

You will be able to work remotely however there may be an ad-hoc requirement to attend donor meetings.

About You:

With your proven experience of philanthropy fundraising, you’ll have personally secured 5 figure + gifts from a major donor. With your ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with donors, you’ll be able to adapt your communication style to articulate complex issues in a succinct and compelling way. 

You’ll have project management skills to enable you to devise donor engagement plans and work with senior volunteers and trustees to develop funding proposals and identify opportunities.

About The Role

• Actively work to secure income to meet agreed personal and team fundraising targets in line with the organisation’s operational priorities to meet the needs of the communities and individuals we serve.
• Identify potential prospects, working alongside the Prospect Researcher, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to continue to identify new prospects to grow the pipeline.
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of donors from £5,000 gifts upwards, stewarding relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting as well as engagement with senior stakeholders within St John.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

About You:

You will have experience of training and presenting as well as supporting Face to Face campaigns ideally within a third sector fundraising role. Key to this role will be the ability to build, manage and develop relationships. 

Additionally, you’ll be able to run analysis and have experience using Dynamics 365, Raisers Edge or a similar database. 

About The Role

• Provide continual training and compliance monitoring support to our Face to Face partners in the execution of all door, private Sites and events fundraising, this includes leading on developing new opportunities in conjunction with St John events.
• Oversee and collaboratively work with our Telephone Fundraising partners on their training and compliance of all deliverables such as welcome calls, upgrades, reactivations and other fundraising campaigns – includes caller listening
• Oversee regular audits of agents, to monitor against key auditory compliance and performance metrics.
• Manage relationships with our Face to Face partners with training, development and materials, and performance reviews. Monitoring various forms or training and reviewing inductions in line with our agreed contract.
• Build a strong knowledge of all areas of St John Ambulance’s work, carrying out continual research and gathering information, case studies and photos for use in training booklets, scripts and materials. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.

About the role 
We are looking for someone who wants to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives, taking the lead on generating the income required to deliver the Farm’s services and maintain our central functions and infrastructure. With support from the Farm’s Director, who is an experienced fundraiser, you will develop and implement the fundraising strategy for the Farm, leading on the delivery of key activities, initiatives and opportunities. 

You will confidently take on the leadership of the Farm’s well-established fundraising from trusts and foundations, growing our unrestricted income base and attracting multi-year funding to support our projects. Your experience will also enable you to take the lead on establishing a new individual giving programme for the Farm, creating and implementing a stewardship strategy alongside the Marketing, Events & Communications Operational Manager. We anticipate that the postholder will spend 75% of their time managing and growing our existing trusts and foundations portfolio and 25% on building a new individual giving programme. We are looking for someone with experience (or demonstrable transferable skills and knowledge) and a willingness to work on both areas. 

As a member of the Farm’s Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Director and Operational Managers to ensure that our fundraising strategy enables us to deliver against our objectives, as well as supporting project managers and other staff to contribute to the development of relevant fundraising opportunities.

As individual giving lead, the Senior Income & Engagement Officer will join War on Want at a very exciting time. We have recently launched a new supporter mobilisation strategy to bring transformative growth to our supporter base, both increasing participation with War on Want campaigns, and increasing the number of active War on Want members who support our work with regular monthly donations.

It is essential that candidates demonstrate their ability to identify, build and maintain strong donor, sponsor and supporter relationships. You should also be familiar with managing engagement and communications programmes, particularly through digital means.

We are recruiting our new Associate Director of Principal Giving to lead our Principal Gifts programme – a programme of ambition and almost endless potential.

As Associate Director of Principal Giving, you will work at the most senior levels with individuals, companies, and trusts and foundations in the UK and internationally. A vital member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be a key source of strategic guidance and support for university leaders, academics, and fundraising colleagues across the University.

A key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to and working closely with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations, you will have the opportunity to work on transformational gifts – interesting, complex, exciting gifts that will have global impact.

Samaritans is on a mission to make a profound impact on suicide prevention, and they need your expertise to drive their philanthropy programme to new heights. With a small yet promising portfolio of supporters and donors, they are poised for growth, fuelled by a national rise in wealth and philanthropy. Annual income is around £500K with donations typically at 5 figure values.

The ambition is to grow the programme sustainably in the long term but also ensure the target is met in 2024-25. This year will be about proactive engagement with a wide range of potential supporters, developing programme infrastructure and securing mid-value donations to build the pipeline from the ground up. In year two they hope to drive up gift volume and value.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will line manage the Philanthropy Officer, supporting their development and fostering an overall culture of collaboration and high performance. The role will also personally cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing major donors, and work collaboratively on a programme of stewardship and cultivation events.

There is a huge amount of potential for this income stream, and with the right Senior Philanthropy Manager, the portfolio could really fly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, develop and lead the Philanthropy Officer
• Manage a portfolio of existing donors, deepening their relationship with the charity and upscaling gifts
• Develop a healthy pipeline of new donors, managing prospects with a view to increasing gifts
• Lead the strategic planning for the major donor programme
• Develop an events programme for cultivation and stewardship of donors

Essential criteria

• Substantial experience of, and a strong track record in, major gift fundraising
• Experience of personally soliciting 5-6 figure gifts from major donors
• Experience of successfully managing end-to-end major donor relationships
• Good leadership skills with experience, or transferable experience, of line management

First Give was founded in 2014 to inspire, equip and motivate young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. As we approach our second decade, it is an exciting time to join the charity. Our vision is of a more generous society where all people are willing and able to give their time, money and skills to causes that they care about. 

We are currently developing a new strategy which by which we aim to have reached a million young people by 2034. We intend to do this by developing new programmes and activities that will support us to achieve our mission: to create opportunities for young people to be inspired and empowered to give their time, money or skills to charities and causes that matter to them. Our existing programmes are delivered in partnership with schools across England and Wales, ensuring that as many young people as possible, regardless of their background have the opportunity to take part. 

As second most senior leader in the charity, the Deputy Director will provide leadership to the First Give team and support the Board of Trustees and Director with strategy and governance. 

The Deputy Director will play an integral role in the development of the charity as we move into our second decade. They will spearhead our fundraising, communications and marketing to ensure the charity has the capacity to deliver against our strategic goals.

Remote/hybrid. We welcome applications from across England and Wales, however desk space is available at our London office in West Hampstead should the successful candidate be based in London.

Key responsibilities 

Organisational Leadership and line management 

• Deputise for the Director when necessary 

• Provide leadership and positive role modelling to the First Give team 

• Support organisation-wide improvements and innovation, including strategic planning and organisational structure 

• Develop connections and networks that increase the profile and opportunities for the charity 

• Work with the Director and Head of Programmes to create opportunities for young people to influence and engage with our work and impact 

• Line management of our Administrator 

Fundraising 

• Work with the Director and consultants to own and implement a robust fundraising strategy to support the organisation as it executes its new strategic plan 

• Develop processes for managing fundraising applications and stewardship of existing funders and supporters 

• Write and submit high quality, inspiring and tailored funding applications and reports for trusts and foundations (expected to be in the region of £10,000-150,000) 

• Identify and develop potential new funding opportunities for First Give, including major donors and corporate funders 

• Manage relationships with a set number of key funders, ensuring that we proactively seek feedback, engagement and involvement in our work 

New School Partner Recruitment 

• Oversee and co-ordinate all new school partner recruitment sales and marketing activity 

• Work with our marketing agency to develop and implement marketing campaigns 

• Support the Programmes Team to recruit new partner schools in priority regions 

• Proactively seek opportunities for growth of the First Give partners network 

• Develop and design and production of marketing and sales resources to support all sales activity 

• You may also be required to deliver sales meetings with networks including Headteacher meetings and attend conferences to promote the work of the charity 

Communications 

• Lead the development and manage the delivery of our communications strategy, including all messaging to key stakeholders via a range of appropriate channels, including newsletters, social media and our website 

• Be responsible for the First Give website, ensuring it is up to date, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation 

• Brand champion, ensuring that all external communications and resources are aligned with our brand identity and tone of voice 

• Management of retainer with external design agency

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change 

• Leadership experience, ideally in a charity of similar complexity and scale 

• Ability to triage between the strategic and operational with ease and confidence 

• Demonstrable success as a fundraiser, particularly bid-writing, reporting and funder stewardship 

• Experience of developing and implementing a communications strategy 

• Experience of creating a range of content for different audiences and channels including marketing materials, newsletters, blogs, social media content etc… 

• Experience developing and implementing successful sales and marketing strategies, preferably in the education sector 

• Experience of writing and managing budgets, delivering plans using resources available 

• Track record of stakeholder management at senior levels 

• Experience of working in or with teachers and schools 

• Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to deliver concise, engaging and persuasive presentations 

Desirable 

• Experience leading the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing activity and campaigns 

• Experience of remote line management 

• Experience of working in a remote, decentralised team 

• Experience of using Salesforce
