About the role
The Public Fundraising Manager (Stewardship and Retention) is responsible for leading public fundraising programmes across retention campaigns, newsletters, community and events, legacy and in-memory giving. The postholder shapes and delivers multi-year supporter retention and growth strategies and budgets, ensuring sustainable income and engagement through cross selling of fundraising products. They provide expert advice on donor stewardship, manage complex workflows across multiple channels, provide expert advice on data management, analysis and reporting and ensure service quality and compliance with fundraising regulations.

The Head of Fundraising is a senior leadership role responsible for driving sustainable income growth in support of In2scienceUK’s mission to widen access to STEM degrees and careers for young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
You will develop and deliver a bold, integrated fundraising strategy that secures and diversifies income across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, research grants and other income streams. Through compelling cases for support and clear articulation of impact, you will build confidence and long-term commitment among funders and strategic partners, unlocking new opportunities for growth and expansion.
Leading and developing a small, high-performing fundraising team, you will oversee prospecting, relationship management and stewardship, ensuring a professional, data-led and donor-centred approach. The Fundraising Manager – Trusts, Foundations and Major Donors, is an exciting new role at The Theatre Chipping Norton, that aims to use your experience and skills to take the strategic fundraising work of this busy arts venue into a new chapter. The position is part time requiring 17.5 hours of work a week - with a minimum of 1 day on site every 3 weeks (though more is very much welcome).
You’ll need to be self-motivated, skilled at working autonomously and confident in your expertise, especially with regards to larger and multi-year applications to trusts and foundations, including arts and wellbeing funders. You will work alongside a full-time and successful Fundraiser (already in post) who leads on our Friends and Patron schemes, corporate giving and fundraising events. You will work alongside the senior management team to set fundraising budgets and targets across all areas, and will monitor and steer the whole fundraising function, alongside more specific and hands-on responsibilities, generating larger trusts and foundations applications and approaching major donors.
The role is suitable for candidates who are an experienced grants or trust fundraiser, ideally in the cultural sector, and motivated particularly by the social impact and outreach work that we deliver. You will have strong and up-to-date knowledge of the processes and priorities of major funding bodies to provide a strong pipeline of funding. You will be capable of reading and understanding financial reports and managing fundraising targets, as well as having excellent written communication skills. BCT's work has helped deliver one of the UK’s consistent conservation success stories for several bat species although we recognise that there is still a long way to go before our 18 resident bat species recover from historical declines. Context and Background
The NSPCC relies on voluntary income for the majority of its work to keep children safe, prevent abuse and ensure every child has a voice. To secure long-term sustainability, the charity has reshaped how it engages supporters through the Engagement and Fundraising Directorate.
Within this, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Department brings together high-value audiences and supporter-led income. The Volunteer Board Fundraising team leads income generation through regional and national volunteer boards, volunteer-led fundraising initiatives and delivery of special events through our high value event committees. These activities play a vital role in maximising sustainable income, engaging senior volunteers, and supporting long-term supporter relationships.
The volunteer boards are made up of influential and successful senior stakeholders who feel passionately about the NSPCC and volunteer their time to help the NSPCC generate income and awareness. They employ a range of fundraising techniques to reach their goals – their focus being to use their networks and influence to secure income generating opportunities via events, corporate partnerships and major gifts from individuals.

Duties & responsibilities
Income generation
- To design and develop a fundraising strategy for QSA, incorporating a wide range of approaches, including statutory sources, charitable trusts, individual donations, legacies, earned income from training, and event fundraising.
- To set clear targets based on previous trends, and realistic aspirations for growth.
- To ensure all fundraising activity sits within the required legislative framework and complies with best practice, especially regarding donor consent.
- To ensure accurate financial information is presented within fundraising materials.
- To ensure that QSA fundraising applications are supported by up-to-date evidence of need, gained from relevant research and policy developments.

Main terms and conditions of employment
- QSA uses the local government pay scales for salaries. Your salary will be on NJC scale point 41-44, which starts at £56,463 (including London weighting) for a full-time/36 hours post. All appointments are made at bottom of scale.
- This is a permanent position.
- This post can be offered as a role to be worked between four and five days per week, so 28 hours to 36 hours per week. We pride ourselves on our flexible working practices.
- Leave entitlement for a full-time post is 25 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays, with the leave year running from January to December. This increases by 2 days after 3 years of service and a further 3 days after 5 years of service. QSA closes between Christmas and New Year and days falling within this period are not taken from your leave entitlement.
- QSA pays an additional 6% of salary into the QSA group personal pension, with a 2% staff contributory element.
- We have probationary periods of six months and the period of notice is 1 week during the probationary period and 8 weeks on its completion.
- QSA has a union recognition agreement with Unite although staff are welcome to join any trade union or none.
- This is a hybrid role. We see the benefits of being in the office with colleagues on a regular basis, and consider 2-3 days per week in person to be ideal for this role.
