As part of this we are looking to significantly expand our dynamic fundraising team, and have created a number of exciting new roles to help us deliver the Biomes project. This role will work with a mixed portfolio of prospects, with the main objective of achieving income targets and maximising donor asks for the campaign. You’re likely to spend 80% of your time engaging directly with donors, many of whom will be high net worth individuals, and the remainder in proposal development and gift closure processes.
This is a key post in the fundraising team and will be critical to the success of the project. Applicants will need to have previous experience in fundraising roles and ideally working with high net worth individuals. You’ll be comfortable meeting with potential donors, and have the ability to be able to ask for donations. On top of that you’ll need a sound understanding of gift aid and GDPR regulations as they apply to fundraising, and will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Through you, this project will promote active travel (cycling, scooting and walking) for journeys to and from school and during leisure time, supporting staff and volunteer ‘school champions’, harnessing local authority resources and making links between schools, external partners and the bicycle industry.
About You
An excellent communicator, you will have experience of delivering outdoor activities and working with children and young people and partnership working within a community. You will have a passion for being active, ideally using active methods to explore the local area. You will also have a current clean driving licence.
Clearance by the appropriate enhanced Disclosure Scotland check is mandatory for this role.

THE ROLE
The Public Affairs Officer role will work to increase the Trust’s influence through public affairs and policy work, building strong partnerships with environmental NGOs, politicians at local and national government level and relevant stakeholders. An integral part of this role is the ability to lead on the Trust’s advocacy relationship with local authorities and the two national parks across Scotland to ensure policy support and resource allocation for woodland protection, creation, and restoration. In particular, the Public Affairs Officer will support planning policy influencing at the local and national government level.
THE CANDIDATE
You’ll possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a good understanding of how to deploy them within a political context. Working experience of Scottish politics and environmental policy, and a keen interest in current affairs are a must alongside the ability to be a good advocate for the Woodland Trust's mission. You must be able to travel for site visits and meetings, sometimes in remote areas of Scotland, and with some overnight stays.
