We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Senior Fundraising Manager to build on our past fundraising activity, diversifying income streams and nurturing new and existing partnerships with industry. Working closely with the Head of Communications and Membership Engagement, you will contribute to shaping the fundraising strategy to support our new and enhanced organisational strategy and brand strategy.

Working closely with other members of the senior management team, including the Head of Sponsorship and Events, you will help develop relationships with industry for the long term and in relation to our yearly State of the Art Congress, aimed at the intensive care community.

You’ll have a strong track record in building and managing partnerships, securing grants from charitable trusts and foundations, and delivering successful fundraising campaigns. You will be a strategic thinker, confident communicator, and relationship-builder who is motivated by making a difference. Able to juggle both management and hands-on, operational activities, you’ll be keen to get stuck in and make a difference.

You will sit in a small, dynamic and supportive team also responsible for communications and membership engagement, and you’ll work with closely with them to integrate fundraising messages within our broader communications. You will also have a dotted line to other key teams within the organisation, in a matrix-style working set-up.

As an organisation, we have just reviewed our organisational strategy under the leadership of our new CEO, which means a lot of exciting developments are afoot needing additional funding. What does this role do?
As a Public Fundraising Assistant, you will: 

• respond to public enquiries, complaints, and donation updates related to face-to-face fundraising, ensuring all communications reflect the Dogs Trust brand, tone, and procedures.
• liaise with fundraising agencies to monitor campaign performance, resolve incidents or complaints, and ensure all campaign requirements are met.
• support quality assurance by reviewing mystery shop reports, visiting fundraising sites or agencies, and providing feedback to improve performance.
• assist with administrative and campaign support tasks, including managing fundraising materials, handling database queries, and helping with copy and proofing when required.

This role is being offered as a fixed term, family leave cover contract until December 2026.

High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs)

• Identify and cultivate major donors capable of six-figure contributions.

• Deliver bespoke engagement, proposals, and donor experiences.

• Leverage SCU’s ambassadors, networks, and events to grow the pipeline.

Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships

• Design innovative corporate sponsorship packages for SCU events and programmes.

• Lead on pitching and securing high-value, multi-year partnerships.

• Manage and deepen corporate relationships, ensuring delivery of sponsorship rights and a high-quality partner journey.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Work with ambassadors, trustees, and senior colleagues to unlock new networks.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, governance, and fundraising standards.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven track record of securing high-value partnerships (six-figure preferred).

• 5–7+ years’ experience in senior fundraising, partnerships, or business development roles.

• Strong networks across corporate, philanthropic, or international donor communities.

• Excellent relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.

• Exceptional proposal-writing and communication abilities.

• Experience in pipeline management, forecasting, budgeting, and setting KPIs.

• Confident leader with line management experience.

Desirable

• Experience in international fundraising, particularly Latin America, Africa, or the Middle East.

• Understanding of sport-for-development, child rights, or youth empowerment.

• Experience in digital fundraising or innovative partnership models.

• Track record of securing unrestricted or multi-year gifts.

Spoons is a charity dedicated to supporting families through neonatal care. Their sole aim is to facilitate a community where families who have experienced neonatal care, can come together and feel safe in sharing their experiences and supporting one another. The charity was founded in 2015 by Kirsten Mitchell, after she sought support from other parents she met on the neonatal unit. Spoons evolved from the acronym: Supporting Families of Oldham Neonates and over the past 10 years they have continued to grow and now support thousands of families across Greater Manchester.

With an inspirational history, and exciting future ahead, we are delighted to be partnering with this wonderful charity to find them a Fundraising Manager, someone to lead on income generation at this pivotal time.

The Role

The Fundraising Manager will lead on the delivery of a sustainable and diverse fundraising strategy. The main responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering a fundraising strategy and annual income plan.
• Growing sustainable income across all fundraising streams, predominantly Community, Individual Giving, Corporate partnerships and Events.
• Building, nurturing and stewarding supporter relationships.
• Overseeing and executing fundraising marketing and communications strategies.

The Person

We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious individual with a proven track record of delivering fundraising income and a knowledge of a variety of income streams. You should also have an understanding of fundraising regulations, GDPR, and a keenness to keep abreast of fundraising best practice.

Additionally, you should be excellent at building relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You must be organised, driven and resilient, and able to multitask effectively in this varied and interesting role. We are also looking for candidates who are creative with the ability to write compelling communications including social content, campaigns and proposals.
