We're recruiting for a Senior Individual Giving Executive to join our team, and manage fundraising campaigns across print, digital, telephone and other channels to raise income to help children and young people in the UK. This role offers a mixture of campaign and project management, problem solving and creative thinking.

As Senior IG Executive you will

• Run fundraising campaigns for warm and cold audiences including cash appeals and campaigns, raffle and lottery asks, regular giving and engagement pieces including newsletters and welcome journeys. 

• Act as a mentor to junior members of the team, sharing your knowledge and experience. 

• Support IG Managers in managing income and expenditure budgets. 
• Work collaboratively across the department and organisation on integrated campaigns, process improvements and new projects. 

We offer remote or hybrid working (dependent on location) for this role and are willing to discuss flexible working arrangements. 

You will have experience of working in a team environment, and in delivering campaigns using a project management approach.

They are looking for an experienced Trusts and Foundations fundraiser, to manage a portfolio of high level grant funders, whose support is vital to the work of their organisation.  

Working closely with the Trusts and Philanthropy Manager and the wider Fundraising team, the postholder will research potential funders, write compelling grant applications, and build strong relationships with funders to ensure continued and increased support. They will have a strong track record of securing five/six-figure funding from trusts and foundations, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders effectively.

The Opportunity

To support the range and depth of partnerships we have and the potential we see, we are looking for a Partnerships Manager to work primarily on building partnerships with Local Authorities and public sector organisations, charities and social enterprises, faith-based and inclusion-focused organisations and other groups who might help us strategically grow and resource the Warm Welcome network across the UK (NB Corporate Partnerships are managed by our newly appointed Fundraising Lead for Corporates). The Partnerships Manager will also help develop our support for Warm Welcome Spaces, including overseeing our Champions Programme which offers more intense support and a Community of Practice to a smaller cohort of local groups. 

We’re looking for someone who thrives on the variety of connecting with a huge range of people and who is organised and systematic while at the same time has room for creativity and innovation.

Joining during an exciting period of growth, you will be inheriting a hugely diverse and highly engaged coalition of Warm Welcome Partners who have supported the campaign and local Spaces over the last 2 and a half years. At the same time, there remains a huge untapped potential in terms of possible partners and relationships to be developed and you will be working together with the Campaign Director and team to strategically identify and develop these new connections.

Responsibilities

Building Partnerships

● Developing our Partnership Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to help us grow the network and reach our ambition of 100% of the population living within a 30-minute walk of a registered Warm Welcome Space. This will involve identifying and engaging partners in geographical ‘cold spots’ for the network (utilising our mapping tool developed with UCL), as well as forming partnerships to unlock new or under-represented types of Warm Welcome Spaces (e.g. Housing Association Community Spaces, cinemas, community spaces created by new housing developments etc).

● Leading the development of our Local Co-ordinators Cluster which brings together Local Authorities and others who are leading place-based networks of community spaces.

● Overseeing and developing the Champions Programme, providing more intensive support and connections to a smaller cohort of Warm Welcome Spaces.

 

Engagement and Inclusion

● Developing our Inclusion Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to diversify our Coalition and support local Spaces to become more accessible and inclusive.

● Working with the team to develop regular engagement activities for Warm Welcome Partners.

● Producing compelling communications (written and verbal) to promote the work of the Warm Welcome Campaign and grow the depth and breadth of partnerships - to include but not limited to partnership proposals, pitches and reports.

Good Practices, Standards and Systems

● Supporting, maintaining and developing existing partnerships and manage the systems (including CRM use) needed for excellent partnerships delivery, stewardship and development.

● Leading Warm Welcome Space good practice and driving up quality standards across the network, including through developing a Warm Welcome Awards programme.

● Promoting good practice in volunteering and supporting Spaces to maximise and grow volunteering opportunities.

● Working with the team and, using our new CRM, track, measure and analyse our partnerships delivery.

Reporting to the Director of People, the HR Manager will take responsibility for the operational delivery of Breaking Barriers’ key People and HR activities and initiatives. You will have a strong knowledge of all aspects HR and provide proactive, practical support on day-to-day operations as well as leading strategic HR projects. A keen understanding of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and employee wellbeing is an advantage.

This role is essential to ensure we continue to be an effective, inclusive and people-led organisation. Your role will be vital in making sure Breaking Barriers is and continues to be a great place to work for its staff.

BACKGROUND

Church of England Birmingham (CofEB) is on a journey of growing churches at the heart of every community. Through this we are seeing growth in many exciting ways. Financially we are at a challenging point. We have had an operational deficit for a number of years and this cannot continue. There are current conversations happening with the National Church around how we get to a sustainable platform through partnership. One key aspect of this is for us to increase our Common Fund returns (the giving from our parishes that supports the costs of our life together). We are taking a radical new approach to our finances which includes intentional reallocation of income to support the costs in our most economically deprived parishes and deeper relationships with each parish around finance through conversation rather than correspondence. Over the next five years we are hoping to be able to move to a financially sustainable platform which will enable us to better serve our communities in the future. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

We need a Head of Generosity to lead the team, and project, that will focus on developing long term relationships with all of our parishes leading to:

• Greater support for our parishes.
• Increased generosity by, and within, our parishes.
• Increased Common Fund.

A steering Group has been established, which the Head of Generosity will be a part of, to plan, design and implement the activities needed to deliver our vision. Through partnership with the National Church we are expecting that there will be four members of this Generosity Team. 

This role, and the team, will need to work closely with Archdeacons and Area Deans, Directors of Mission, Ministry and Finance (and their teams), the Head of Communications and many others. We have one strategy and this is a part of that so needs to link well with all other parts. 

The Head of Generosity will also be Bishops Advisor for Common Fund. Bishop Michael is passionate about supporting our parishes and seeing Common Fund increase and this role will both channel his desire to parishes and help reflect what is learnt back to the Bishop as we progress.

The post holder will have the support of the National Giving Team who have extensive experience and resources to support those responsible for giving and generosity. They will also be given access to a strong and growing national network of people in similar roles. Their experience has proven invaluable to people in roles similar to this, building on best practice and learning from others across 41 Dioceses.

The role will have the following key responsibilities:

• Support in the recruitment and the establishment of the Generosity Team.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the members of the Generosity Team.
• Support the delivery design of this project and deliver the actions agreed by the Steering Group.
• Lead on Parish engagement across all areas of generosity, including the spiritual / theological nature.
• Appropriately discern and allocate team members to support different phases of the process and the different and wide-ranging developmental needs of parishes. 

Through the team:

• Create a bespoke multi year plan for Common Fund with every parish with key stakeholders including Archdeacons.
• Provide consultancy, resources, and hands-on support to parishes to grow regular giving, legacies, and other forms of financial support. This work will be able to draw on the resources developed by the national church as well as the data held on their Cornerstone Platform. The post-holder will be expected to engage in the work of the National Giving Team as part of the development of these wider resources.
• Develop and deliver training for clergy, lay leaders and PCCs, on financial management and giving and generosity with the Ministry team.
• Encourage and assist parishes in the implementation of the Parish Giving Scheme, introduction of contactless giving mechanisms and related diocesan initiatives.
• Source, develop and curate practical resources (digital and print) to support local stewardship campaigns and initiatives.
• Evaluate the impact of stewardship and generosity initiatives and adapt strategies accordingly to achieve the project outcomes.
• Create compelling communication tools that articulate the impact of generosity with our communication team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven leadership experience preferably in financial management, fundraising, or stewardship within a faith-based or nonprofit organisation.
• Strong understanding of church governance structures and financial operations and requirements.
• Knowledge of generosity principles and Christian financial stewardship.
• A prayerful Christian with a deep commitment to the Church’s mission (Genuine Occupational Requirement).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The post-holder will be employed by the Diocesan Board of Finance for five years.

Salary and Pension: Salary of £48,000 plus membership of the Church Worker’s Pension Scheme with 12% employer contribution. We are open to discussion especially if you are ordained and are moving out of parish ministry.

Hours:  Full-time 35 hours (5 days) per week. Weekend and evening work will be required, for which the equivalent time may be taken back from standard working hours. The Opportunity

The Finance and Operations Officer’s purpose is to work within the Operations Team to provide essential financial and operational support for the whole charity.  
 

Key responsibilities for finance range from providing advice and support for the whole staff team, important day to day and monthly financial processing for key stakeholders and assisting with the budgeting and forecasting process. 

1. Finance

• Support the Finance and Operations Manager (FM) to prepare and deliver accurate and regular management information including monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts, one-off finance reports, reporting for funders including grants and trusts, including end of project reporting. 
• Monitor the day-to-day financial management and cash flow of the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) working closely with the FM, Head of Finance & Operations (HFO), Operations and Fundraising teams. 
• Prepare payment runs for invoices and expenses, update weekly payments received reports and work closely with the Fundraising team to ensure expected income has been received. 
• Support the FM, alongside our appointed accountants, to prepare audited Year End Accounts, and work to ensure the Accounts are completed, approved, and filed on time. 
• Support the FM to manage and improve our financial systems and procedures, streamlining internal processes to ensure they are effective and safeguard the finances of the organisation.  
• Support the FM to devise and implement effective and efficient procedures, including the introduction of a purchase order system. From time to time, you may be requested to support the FM to maintain the payroll function of the organisation. 

 
2. Operations and Administration 

• Support the organisation, in ensuring that all staff and volunteers are aware of and trained in the relevant Data Protection policy and procedures and ensure that data protection laws are being adhered to in relation to the storage of data. Run the data deletion process where such requests are received in compliance with GDPR legislation. 
• Support the HFO and FM in overseeing operational matters such as SMF office administration, maintaining the asset register, insurance renewals, and Health & Safety compliance; act as point of contact for suppliers and service providers, including property managers, utility companies, couriers and cleaners; maintaining contracts and leases with office providers; purchasing office supplies & equipment and ensuring adequate stock levels are kept. 
• Support the wider organisation through appropriate administrative tasks, for example the programme delivery team to ensure a good experience for students, particularly during the residential programmes 
• Support the HR team with processes such as ordering laptops for new staff and communicating, updating and maintaining office policies contained in the Office handbook  
• Undertake research activities to support Operations Team projects, for example potential new suppliers, benchmarking exercises and contract renewals 

3. Strategic Responsibilities 

• Support with training staff on finance processes, fraud awareness, data protection, and other areas of operations.  
• Being a point of contact for all staff on finance and operations including office administration 
• Ensure appropriate adherence to our financial and operational policies and procedures supporting the organisation to enact the highest standards, balancing that whilst processes are appropriately followed, they are not followed to the point where they compromise the standards or outcomes desired. 

Need to know

• IT skills:  Experience of using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel functions. Experience of using or awareness of any accounting and/or CRM (Salesforce) software.
• Accounting knowledge: Some understanding of basic bookkeeping would be preferable, including the importance of accurate and timely information for the running of the charity and an ability to maintain confidentiality.

About the role

We are seeking a technically capable, qualified accountant with strong knowledge of the Charities SORP to provide effective stewardship and oversight of the Finance function at Kinship. You will be responsible for financial controls, management accounting and ensuring the effective delivery of ‘business as usual’ financial management.

As well as producing monthly management accounts, you will be responsible for running the annual budget and the year-end processes, preparing for the yearly external audit and ensuring that the organisation complies with statutory obligations.

You will also collaborate and work with Directors and senior managers across the organisation to inform them on performance against budget and conditions of funding, as well as supporting fundraising and commissioning bids. 

You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to organise conflicting priorities around the monthly management accounts cycle, while supporting the achievement of our strategic objectives. You will be flexible and adaptable in your approach to supporting transformational change in our processes and systems, as well as dealing with, and leading on, the day-to-day financial management. 

This is a broad and challenging role for a dynamic and systems-driven individual who wants to grow within the organisation, proactively problem solve and help colleagues to deliver on our mission.

Essential requirements include:

• Fully qualified ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

The Fundraising Department at The Forward Trust plays a crucial role in supporting our mission to empower individuals to break the cycles of addiction, crime, homelessness and unemployment. Our team is dedicated to securing vital funds, generating around £2million per year, through various channels, including grants, events, corporate partnerships, and individual donations. Role Responsibilities An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Fundraising Team to help grow and maximise income from trusts and foundations and other grant giving organisations. As an integral part of the team, you will identify, engage, and approach new grant giving organisations as well as maintain and strengthen relationships with existing supporters to secure funding for our life changing and life-saving services across prisons and communities in the UK.  Over the last two years, we have been working hard to lay the foundations to be able to engage and secure more supporters and advocates for the organisation, enabling us to increase the amount of charitable income we secure. With a new strategy, team structure and customer relationship systemin place, it is a great time to be joining a passionate, fun, and target-driven team within a motivating and inspirational environment. You will be working as part of a team of 10 and the role is fully remote with expectation to travel to Vauxhall once per month. You will also be expected to have the flexibility to attend events and be able and willing to travel to the services in the organisation and supporting fundraising events. Please not you will need at least 1 years' experience of trust and grant fundraising. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a excellent communicator who is good at building and maintaining relationships and who has writing and fundraising experience. Please also see a list of skills and experience needed for this role below; Proven track record of securing high level grants from trusts and foundations and other grant giving organisations Understanding of principles of donor engagement, stewardship, and cultivation Understanding of databases in relation to fundraising (experience of using Salesforce is desirable) Understanding of the key principles of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and how these impact fundraising Good knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office packages Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and the ability to explain and summarise complex issues in an understandable, compelling, and approachable manner Ability to construct and understand income and expenditure budgets for complex projects and services Good organisational and planning skills (including the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload) Excellent attention to detail Experience of prospecting and writing funding proposals for trusts, foundations, institutional donors and/or corporates Experience of working in a complex organisation Experience of prospecting, engaging, and securing support (either monetary or in-kind) from corporate organisations About Us We are The Forward Trust, the social enterprise with charitable status that empowers people to break the often interlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives.
