A little bit about the role
The fundraising manager role sits in the fundraising team within the external relations division. The fundraising team is responsible for raising between £1m and £1.5m in fundraised income annually. Frontline’s philanthropic income complements the significant contract income the charity receives from central and local government and enables the charity to carry out its broader mission to create social change for hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged children.
Since we were founded in 2013, Frontline has leveraged its success to build committed, high impact partnerships with a number of prestigious supporters including, trusts and foundations, corporates and high net worth individuals. Our new fundraising strategy focuses on continuing to grow our network of supporters by maintaining excellent relationships with our current funders while identifying new potential donors, and at the same time testing and developing fundraising through community and events and individual giving.
We are now looking for a fundraising manager to help drive this strategy forward. The successful candidate will have experience across a range of fundraising areas (in particular community and events fundraising, individual giving, digital fundraising as well as corporate or major donors) to add strength to the team and allow us to pilot new fundraising initiatives.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Lead on developing our public fundraising income (individual giving/community and events fundraising), working with other teams and external agencies where suitable to increase engagement among our audiences and grow our public fundraising income.
- Work with and develop relationships with existing corporate supporters and bring on board new corporate supporters to grow income from this area, including through staff fundraising activities
- Work with other teams to develop opportunities to bring funders closer to our work and help inspire a culture of fundraising across the charity.
- Support the head of fundraising with the development of Frontline’s long-term fundraising strategy, monitoring progress towards annual revenue goals.
A little bit about you
You’ll be an enthusiastic target-driven fundraiser, with experience in building up public fundraising (including community, events and individual giving) and working towards financial targets and growing income. We’d like to see someone with strong writing skills, and are able to express creative and sometimes complex ideas in simple and effective language.
We have a fast-moving culture within the team and organisation, so we’re looking for someone who is who is well organised, details-focused and can use their initiative to do what works. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to build relationships with people and be willing to learn. Free Tibet is a small but effective campaign organisation based in south London. Job Description
Fundraising
- Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.
- Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.
- Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs.
- Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising.
- Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.
- Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.
- Managing relationships with third party agencies, like mailing services and digital mobilisation agencies, making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
- Ensure that our new Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, Raiser’s Edge NXT, is used effectively and to its full potential.
- Take a supporter-facing role in managing relationships with Major Donors, leading by example in securing mission-critical income.
- When needed, providing on-the-ground support for direct marketing, including copywriting and editing.
Leadership & Management
- Line manage the Fundraising Team, which currently consists of a full-time Fundraising Officer, part-time Administrative Assistant, and part-time Supporter Care & Shop Officer, nurturing their professional development and working collaboratively to produce fundraising projects.
- Act as a leader within the organisation, representing staff to the board and executive committee where appropriate.
- Work with the Finance and HR manager to monitor expenditure against budget and prepare regular reports on expenditure and projected income for the Free Tibet and Tibet Watch boards.
- Develop annual and project-specific Fundraising Strategies, reporting on appropriate indicators.
General Responsibilities
- Participating in regular team meetings.
- Participate in events and actions as required, with protest attendance highly encouraged.
- Ensure that volunteers working with your team are managed appropriately.
- Participating in monthly finance/fundraising meetings.
- Provide regular fundraising reports for the FT-TW Boards and Head of Campaigns.

Person Specification
Essential
- Proven ability to look at the big picture of an organisation’s fundraising and prioritise what needs particular attention.
- Proven track record of delivering income across one or more of following income streams:
- Individual Giving: postal appeals, online appeals; emergency appeals; matched giving campaigns.
- Major Donor Fundraising: soliciting and stewarding donations from HNWIs; prospects research; Major Donor recruitment.
- Trusts and Foundations: soliciting and stewarding major grant
- Digital fluency with a deep understanding of how this relates to fundraising.
- Line management of other fundraisers, especially with agile working and diverse skill sets.
- Experience of overseeing the development of team members.
- Excellent knowledge of proper practice in fundraising data and compliance, especially with reference to The Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR principles.
- Confident reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and representing staff interests.

Desirable
- Experience of working in a high intensity environment, working collaboratively and skillfully in response to fast-moving developments in global news.
- Personal achievement/s securing five or six-figure grants, especially for research or human rights projects.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Did you know that every year we need to raise £5m to keep our doors open and only around 20% of our income comes from government sources? The rest has to be raised through fundraising activity.
Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team support these families in our modern, purpose-built building. All our rooms bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.
We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The role:
In your role as Regional Fundraising Manager, you will lead and develop a team of 7 to raise invaluable funds and brand awareness of the hospice. Working with the Income Generation and Communications Director you will work towards a devised strategy for fundraising across key income streams including Events, Corporate and Community. You will plan an annual fundraising calendar of activity and campaigns and work to agreed KPIs and objectives to build a resilient and robust income plan, managing and supporting your team to achieve these objectives. Taking the lead for corporate engagement you will both develop new relationships and nurture existing supporters.
As part of your role as a manager you will be a strong advocate in teaching and demonstrating Bluebell Wood’s culture to your staff and those around you, embedding the vision of the hospice in everyone who works with us. JOB PURPOSE
· Strategic responsibility for fundraising, including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationships with our wide range of funding partners;

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.
You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy
· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;

Communications
· Work with the Marketing Officer to implement improvements to our digital presence, including website optimization, social media strategy, and online advertising campaigns;

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. A proven track record of delivery results in fundraising and/or partnership management

3. Proven experience in securing five figure gifts, managing the donor cycle from initial stages through to stewardship

Overview of Role
This is an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in our fantastic, skilled Fundraising Team in an exciting period of ambitious growth. The role offers many opportunities to develop trusts and foundations fundraising skills and experience.
CAT’s Fundraising Team is responsible for raising vital funds for CAT’s core and project work from individuals, trusts and foundations, statutory sources, groups and organisations. This is essential for CAT to fulfil its charitable mission – to inform, inspire and enable people to take action for a sustainable future. The post-holder will play an essential role within this team.
To successfully raise funds from trusts and foundations, the postholder will work closely with and be supported by other members of the team including the Fundraising Team Manager, the Fundraising Manager for Major Donors & Legacies and the Head of Strategic Funding and Programmes. They may also provide support to these team members if required to raise funds from statutory, corporate, group or individual sources, including by helping to organise events and webinars, and may be required to provide supporter care and administration support for another Fundraising Officer.
To engage and deliver successful strategies for fundraising from trusts and foundations, the postholder will research relevant sources of income; consolidate this funding and project information and provide support for the setting and monitoring of project budgets; keep the project pipeline updated; research, engage and develop relationships with donor prospects and ensure stewardship; submit a rolling programme of applications; and monitor and evaluate feedback. They will also ensure that donors are thanked and receive appropriate recognition, and ensure compliance with CAT’s policies and procedures, whilst maintaining records and managing any reporting requirements.
Main Responsibilities
Trust and foundations:
- To work with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Strategic Funding and Programmes to support the development and implementation of strategies and plans for fundraising from trusts and foundations, including through an audit of trusts and foundations.
- To provide support to lead staff in project development including budget setting, monitoring and reporting
- To research trusts and foundations funding prospects.
- To maintain and further develop a project pipeline and rolling programme of bids.
- To engage with, develop and maintain strong relationships with trusts and foundations and statutory funding bodies.
- To research, complete and submit compelling funding applications, liaising closely with relevant staff within CAT and, where relevant, partner organisations.
- Ensure appropriate stewardship of supporters.
- Ensure funders are thanked and their support is acknowledged appropriately.
- Ensure that the process for reporting on grants is monitored and that teams understand their roles and responsibilities once funding is secured.
- To ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation of funding bids.
- Ensure data and records are kept up to date and that staff follow good practice.
- To assist with staff training, development and motivation, ensuring that all staff receive adequate induction, health and safety and customer care training.

Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. The Fundraising Manager will work with others to research and identify prospective new funding opportunities, write and submit grant applications, and build strong relationships with donors.
